Really fast service. No drive through. I've never had a mistake on an order, however this was my large fry...

A++ Arby's in Colonie near Albany, NY

Arby's in Albany's Colonie is fantastic! The staff welcomes diners. People all around - no matter how they look, or what they are celebrating, or order, either young or old - get along perfectly. It was an awesome Arby's dining experience. I even went out on a limb and ordered a new item I had never eaten: the French dip and a Coke. There was no wait time. This Arby's was spotless, parking was a breeze, staff the BEST! Delicious fast sandwich that actually looked like the picture. Review: 5

This is what their beef "gyro" looks like.

I hadn't visited this Arby's since my pre-Yelp days. It used to be my go-to spot for a quick meal along Wolf Road. That was because (a) I was an Entertainment Book junkie and they always had a lot of BOGO coupons, and (b) theoretically their roast beef was more of a known quantity than what wasn't always 100% beef in other chains' burgers. I've had a love/hate relationship with Arby's. I've never forgiven them for dropping regular fries (I get indigestion from their curly fries), but I've also appreciated their attempts to come out with new menu items. So replace "Entertainment Book" with "Clipper Magazine," and offer a discount for their new "gyros," and I decided it was time for a visit. The store is very clean and the staff are friendly and courteous. During lunch, they had one employee doing nothing but greeting people and cleaning. The only blemish I saw to the decor was a huge rip in the other seat of the booth at which I sat. They actually have a reasonably priced small fountain drink too. This new "gyro" is okay, if you understand that it's about as Greek as I am. It uses slices of their roast beef in a soft pita with some lettuce, 2 slices of tomato, 2 rings (as opposed to slices) of red onion, and some sauce. The turkey gyro is similar except they use slices of turkey and don't heat the slices. My bigger issue is with their side salad. For $2.19, you got maybe a cup of shredded lettuce, a half-dozen chunks of chopped tomato, and some shredded American cheese. I probably could have poured it all into the packet of salad dressing once I emptied that onto the salad. It barely half-filled the bowl. While it's a sturdy plastic bowl good for take-out, it would clearly be recyclable - apologies if I didn't see a recycle bin, but it seems a waste to throw these into the trash. I wish they could do better. My "word salad" here is bigger than the side salad I got. I'm not surprised that it was very busy here for lunch. A meal here is still cheaper than what you can get at the gourmet burger places, and it's still just as good.

I visit this Arby's (no drive-thru) because it's not in the mall. Other people have the same idea too! When there's a long line (lunch hours or weekends) almost to the front entrance, it may take a while to place your order and get your food. Once at the counter, I usually get a Regular Roast Beef Sandwich (with Horsey Sauce) or a Beef 'n Cheddar Sandwich, Potato Cakes, a large Jamocha Shake, and a Cherry Turnover for the road. The sandwiches are on the salty side and the shake complements the meal. THIS LOCATION IS NOW OPEN ON SUNDAYS!

A regular fries and a drink brought the total to around $27 (!). Food was ready in about 5 minutes (they give you a light-up device so you don't have to wait in line) and we took it to our table. I have eaten at another location and knew what to expect. The burger was very good, though also greasy. I like thin, crispy burgers and they do it well though despite the handy paper handle to hold it with your fingers will get very messy. My son absolutely loved his burger too. The fries were much better than what I had experienced at their other location. These seemed pre-cut, perhaps pre-frozen, and coated in cornstarch. The top of the container were nice and crispy though they got soggy as you went down. I wish they arranged them flat on a plate, which might keep their texture better (though result in them getting colder faster). All in all, I like this place. Their prices are very steep for the small burgers you get, but they are high quality. So, I dunno. I can't come here more than for special occasions but when I do I think I will just stick with the burgers and skip the fries.

Place was cute and inviting. Loved the fact you can pick as many veggies as you want in your stir fry or salad. I went with a chicken and veggie stir fry with spicy Chajang Gochu sauce. Hubs got chicken and veggie stir fry with the siracha ginger sauce along with an order of the pork potstickers. Sauce for potstickers was delicious. Bowls were also very good mine a little sweeter but more spicy. If you like ice tea highly recommend their teas that are brewed in house. Mango green tea was delish and peach oolong tea was good a little too sweet for me but good flavor. Definitely recommend this place and we will be back.

I recently visited the Burger King at Albany Airport after my first choice, Chick-fil-A, was closed for renovations. As expected for an airport location, the menu was a scaled down version of the usual offerings, which was fine. There was noticeable confusion among customers in the ordering area. There are two self order kiosks, and many people were unsure whether using them was required or optional. I personally prefer ordering with a person, especially if I want to modify anything, but the general understanding at the time was that the kiosks were the only option. Later on, an employee appeared and asked if anyone needed help, which added to the confusion about the process. After placing my order, I waited about 20 minutes. If you are in a hurry to catch a flight, this may not be the best option, although Albany Airport does not offer many alternatives. Fortunately, I was not rushed. The order was correct and the food was typical Burger King quality. The portion of fries was on the smaller side, which seems to be a growing fast food trend, except for places like Five Guys, which is always generous. Service overall felt slow and unhurried. Employees did not appear overwhelmed, just methodical. At an airport location where timing matters, quicker service would make a noticeable difference. Given the limited options at the airport and acceptable food quality, this location is fine if you have time to spare, just plan accordingly. 3 stars.

So here's what happened. I landed in Albany and needed to get my rental car and skedaddle to my…read morehotel. It was 7pm and I'd been traveling since 7am. During that time I'd eaten exactly one banana and two mini bags of sun chips. I was hungry. Not a big deal. I travel a lot and normally would just pick something up on the way to the hotel. But, the hitch was, I was staying at a boutique hotel that is only staffed through 5pm. So, the owner was going to leave home to meet me and help me get checked in. So--I felt pressured to, as I mentioned, skedaddle. The takeout dining choices at the Albany airport are limited at that time of the evening. Basically, my choices were Chick-fil-a (hard pass), Dunkin Donuts (I needed dinner), and BK. It's been probably 15 years or more since I'd dined at a Burger King. But, I'd heard they had an Impossible whopper and thought--what the heck? Here's the thing. If you've also sworn off of big chain fast food spots and it's been a while since you've stopped at one. Here's what you forget: They're just so very...fast. I think I was in there for a grand total of 3 minutes and left with my burger, fries, and a beverage. I still made it to the baggage claim prior to my bag arriving there. In fact, I was able to eat all of my fries prior to my bag arriving. The burger I ate while waiting in line for my rental car. Because, there's the other thing: They're also convenient. This isn't sit down food. This is, you need food now and have exactly 3 minutes to hover over a sink and gobble? Burger King has your back. You need food fast and hot? Burger King. You need food that you can eat in a rental car line so that you arrive at your hotel reasonably nourished and don't expose an unsuspecting hotelier to hangry you? Burger King. By some miracle of the Burger King craft, the fries were fairly warm. The veggies on the impossible burger tasted fresh and the burger itself was fine. Was I wowed? No. Well, yes...but more by the speed and convenience. Less by the food itself. But, I guess, that's something. So, when you're in a pinch in the Albany airport, Burger King will get you expediently fed. And, on that day, for me--I was truly grateful. Thanks BK!
