    Classic roast beef sandwich
    Daniel G.

Dont come to arbys much but the classic roast beef sandwich 2 for $6 was ok for what it was worth. The horsey and arbys sauce was good on it. The sandwich wasnt super fresh but wasnt bad.

This place has definitely been cleaned up since its bad reviews a few years back. The seating area was neat and clean, my order came out super quickly, and it met my expectations (I mean, it's cheap fast food). To push it up to a 5-star review, they need to work with their employees about customer service: smile, greet the customers, look like I'm not bothering you by wanting to order! The cashier just stood behind the counter not saying anything to me, so I wasn't sure if she was ready to take my order or what. Her friend was also visiting with her at the counter, and that was clearly of more interest to the cashier than my order. Finally, I just went up to the counter and just said my order out loud which she eventually took down. My roast beef was pretty good, I just wish it had been warmer; it had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. Basically, you get what you pay for, people!

Consistently bad the only thing good is that you 100% know you will get the wrong orders, missing items, and cold food always.

The turkey was a hot sandwich while the classic was a cold. The location itself is small, feels like a hole in the wall bar with great cozy vibes. We were lucky enough to bike over on a nice day and so we sat in the outdoor space which is also small but got the job done before we were back on our bikes with happy bellies. We will definitely be revisiting so we can try more of the menu!

But if you were open to just having a nice casual dinner in a retro easy place, this is it. My fiance and I went to meet up with some friends from out of town and from a list of places I wanted to try, they chose this one. Between the two of us, we spent about $60 for this meal, which I suppose now adays is on par with what you can get away with. We also left with half a sandwich because honestly, these guys are huge! -Hot Beef Sando with Cheese (extra): this was a massive sandwich, packed with flavor. The ah jus was on the side and needed for dunking. It hit the spot, was a messy affair, but was very good. The meat wasn't melt in your mouth, it was actually quite dry, but the mix of everything together and the dip made it good overall. - Chili Cup: well spiced, super small cup and charging a dollar for each addition of onion, cheese, and sour cream is murder. Pass on the fixings, the soup doesn't need it, but it's not something i'd get again as it wasn't knock out of the park good. -Homemade Orange Soda: this was great. I love the nostalgia of using Tang and it was more earthy because they put some spices in it. Overall, would get again. -Coleslaw was asian inspired and made well, especially with the mint on top. Be warned though, its the same slaw on the pulled chicken...which speaking of: -Pulled chicken sandwich: It's their meat americanized fusion version of a banh mi. I know they have a vegan one on their menu, but this one felt less like a sandwich. The spices weren't quite asian tho and was interesting with the slaw. I wouldn't say it was my favorite but I did eat a whole half. Happy nomming!

Order at the counter for takeout or bring it over to the bar area to enjoy. I will say having it attached is a huge perk for those wishing to absorb the great vibes (and beverages) the Muskellounge has to offer. Moving to the food, I walked away unimpressed. A solid C with perhaps the exception being the biscuit in the chicken tender basket (a solid A). After hearing about their burgers, I opted for their special. Perhaps my fault but the burger was completely overdressed with flavors that overpowered the beef patty. On the other side was the chicken sandwich. Pedestrian. Rather flat and under seasoned. The chicken tenders were fried well but lacked salt. Perhaps I set the bar too high for Hank's but plenty of places in Madison to get your fix on burgers and fried chicken.

We were kind of shocked when out food was actually ready in 5 minutes like we were told, that's some efficiency! The specials for the day were a cuban and a meatball sandwich. This cuban sandwich was one of the best I've ever had and I really hope it's on their menu more! The meatball sandwich was also very tasty with a spicy giardinara to give it some extra flavor. We also had to get the waffle fries with Hanks sauce because it's just so tasty. Always a great option, especially if you can eat it next door.

While they seem to be known for their sandwiches, and for good reason, they have a lot of great artisanal items rooted in Italian cooking. This includes oils, wines, sauces, spices, treats and more. The "more" also includes fresh-made pasta, hand cut meats and cheeses, gelato and a few other absolutely delish items! Back to that sandwich...we were not hungry, but could not pass up a good sandwich, especially one freshly made on locally sourced and baked bread! The bread was the absolutely star of each bite, I mean...sheesh! The sandwich in full was great, and definitely worth the stop in on its own. The store itself is small, but mighty, and well laid out, stocked with all the goods, flows well, clean and in great condition. Service was stellar as well. We were greeted upon entry, checked on while browsing and chatted up while being rang out.
