I've driven by this place a few times and have always been curious about it. This place is a kids…read moreparadise - tons of games that you play for prizes? I mean, come on, what's better? I'd be interested to come back on a slower day, because it was difficult to be in charge of kids here during a very crowded, overstimulating, busy weekend. We came here for a birthday party on a Saturday afternoon and all of the kids were given a card to swipe on all the games. The points you won were automatically uploaded to the card. I was so nostalgic for when you used to get actual paper tickets at the arcade! This is not the case here, and probably most other places nowadays. The staff was friendly and the arcade itself was much cleaner than I was expecting. Some of the games weren't working and there wasn't any signage communicating that. The group of kids I was with LOVED the merry go round and the little rides catered to the smaller kiddos. Those games obviously don't accrue any points, but they did win some points and were able to pick up some prizes at the end. If you get overstimulated easily (like myself), this place probably isn't for you - lots of noises, lights, bright colors and carpeting. It is a fun place for families, and even with it being busy, we didn't ever have to wait long for the games we wanted to play. Would be interested to come back during the week when it's less busy!

Prizes are frequently rearranged so you have a good chance of having something reachable and in a position to grab. They also let you trade up smaller prizes for larger prizes and have a good variety of things you can win.

The advertisement said it started at 10am and there would be free corndogs, but we showed up and of course there were no corndogs. They told us that corndogs would be arriving at 12, so we came back at 12, and guess what... still no corndogs. So they gave us false info not once but twice and wasted our time. As for the games, the machines were set to let you win 1 in every 8 plays, and each play is a dollar. How do I know this? Because one of the machines displayed this info in the settings. So for $8 you can expect to win a small knockoff plush that has a hole in it. They also had a couple of small machines that weren't up and running yet. The staff wasn't unfriendly, but I wouldn't exactly describe them as friendly either. They seemed about as unenthused for a grand opening event as can be. Unlike some better claw arcades, they weren't offering to help reset or fluff up machines, in fact they didn't talk to us at all while we were playing, and it's not like there was a large crowd. The brick-and-mortar support for them. We've seen a few iterations of this over the last year or two in SLC, and this is another fine example. Of all the complaints people lodge against food trucks (and I'm not beating up food trucks--I love them), the fact that you don't have anywhere to sit is probably the biggest among them. It's really cool to see the Gateway solve this problem using the asset they have: space. The concept is this: use an empty store, fill it with tables and arcade games, and invite food trucks in to park nearby. People come to eat, have a (climate controlled) place to eat, and everyone wins. The space is fun. It's not overdone, but does have a large bank of tables and chairs, as well as a handful of arcade games to keep you entertained and occupied. It's directly adjacent to the fountain where the trucks park, so you're only a few paces off from when your grab your meal. I ate here a while back, and it was buzzing with other lunch-goers from around the area. It's a nice option, and certainly brings in more traffic than if you leave everyone to fend for themselves without seat, in the rain and snow.

The Gale Center was a great place for my four kids and I to spend a rainy morning to learn some…read morelocal history and play. The hands on experience in the playrooms was my children's favorite, as it made the history we read about come alive. My kids are 2, 6, and 9. The play areas are definitely designed more for the 5-6 and under crowd, but we all had fun. All my children loved the walk through mine experience and the model train exhibit. We just had to ask a staff member to turn it on, and the kids were thrilled! As a family we spent about an hour there, it could have been longer if my little ones had more stamina. The staff had organized a cute scavenger hunt activity which was lots of fun!

Did you know that the city of South Jordan gets some crazy wind? In fact, the Gale Center Museum…read morewas named after the gale force winds that the city encounters. That was one of the many bites of trivia that I learned on my most recent visit to the museum. This museum has a modest amount of historical artifacts on display-done in a creative way that resembles your grandma's house. There are also some interactive exhibits where kids can play with the food in the grocery store, dress up in the small house or walk through a coal mine cave. It's really well done and is a nice place to poke your creativity. There's no fee to enter the museum and there's plenty of parking. Make it a day and bring the kids for some fun!
