This was our first time doing an escape room. We did it for my daughters birthday which made it extra special. We had 6 people and did the agency room. We had a blast! It was so much fun. We all worked together to solve each mystery. We were given 10 extra minutes because of the birthday which was supper nice of them. We finished as the host walked in but that meant we lost by about 10 or 30 seconds! ...I think. Either way we all said it was fun and will do it again. read more

Super fun escape room! We did The Agency. A lot of super clever puzzles and when we realized there was a second room we were awestruck! I give it a 4 star because it wasn't the greatest escape room I've ever done, but it was definitely up there as a super fun and well-done escape room. I am a big fan of the horror genre escape rooms so that was the only thing that I wish it could've had but I still thought there was a creepy element to it which was really fun! My company took us here as a team-building event, and we all had a great time and were very interested & involved in finding clues and solving the puzzles. When we made it out, we were so excited, and appreciated each other for each person's contributions. This event really did the job of highlighting the fact that each of us has different skills and abilities to add to our total team success. The staff was great, and helped us along the way. The only thing I would recommend is that they up the AC on these hot days, as it got a bit warm in our room, especially when we started to feel the time pressure! read more

This experience was great! My friends and I did the Hideout. We had four people who are fairly familiar with escape rooms (we've done about 5-6 escape rooms) and we were able to escape! The puzzles were really unique and different from many of the puzzles we see elsewhere. We feel like they were pretty intuitive but did challenge people to really think. This was a perfect birthday experience. I can't wait to go back and do The Agency! Also, we had to get a refund for someone who wasn't able to make it last minute and the process was very smooth. In addition, we were a bit late to the room and they were extremely kind and accommodating. I really recommend this place to everyone. The staff is A+ here!! read more

I did the Mentryville Escape Room! It was so much fun! There was no set time limit. The point is to hear the entire story. The live actor was amazing, and he told the story so well! With an afternoon to kill, my team of two headed up the road to Arcane Escape Rooms in Newhall to venture into the Hideout. We were greeted by a friendly GM who stole the show with her enthusiasm and support during our adventure. She led us into the Hideout which is a single room with decent production. The puzzles in the room were linear, low tech, and fairly logical with some scavenging. We hit a couple of snags along the way for what I felt required some leaps of logic but the puzzles were fun overall. I liked the hint system as it doesn't break the immersion. We were about 30 seconds short of making it out but our GM let us finish which I appreciate. Overall, it was a fun room with some minor issues and comes in at 45th out of 96 rooms I've done to date. read more

This was my wife's and my first time in an escape room. It was great. The owner's excitement about it made it start off right away making us excited. It was very fun and intense once it started. Excellent puzzles, some really innovative mechanisms, solid theming, and attention to detail. The people in charge *clearly* love escape rooms and have channeled it into Arcane. While more traditional "find the key" or "find the combination" puzzles can be quite fun, the care and creativity that went into crafting these designs is a refreshing change that is not only fun to play but exciting to see. After trying out "The Agency" as our first escape room we were blown away by the event! Arcane is totally committed to the guest experience. They were accommodating, friendly and helpful from the moment we expressed interest. They were pleased to answer any questions we had and did everything possible to ensure that we would have a great time. The puzzles were unique, thoughtful and incredibly fun. Our group of five was just seconds away from getting out! I came with 3 other friends and the room we got was the hideout! It was me and my boyfriends second time doing an escape room and the room itself was very cool! The puzzles were very clever and we managed to escape! The host Matt, was very nice and went through the rules with us and gave us tips and advice on how to focus and get organized. Kristie and Matt, who own Arcane, are so passionate about their business - about making it the best experience possible. This was our first time, and it was a family of 12. Half of us did one room, the other half tried the other. Apparently totally different experiences, but super fun!! None of us were sure of what to expect, but many of us had been wanting to try it out for a while! It was not scary, just a bit mysterious, which adds to the thrill. But still, a few in our family were looking for a scarier and I guess "live" interaction. So those ppl were a little disappointed. They were like, "that's it!?" afterword. The guidelines at the beginning helped to not just spin your wheels once you got inside. And when they say you have to work together, they're not kidding. Everyone needs to stay calm, and listen to each other. Our group was a bit rowdy, soooo.... neither of the groups escaped...and apparently we were just one step away We all say we definitely would love to go to another escape room. Although some complained it's a steep price for such a short experience. I took off the one star to account for the opinions regarding the cost and the lack of intensity. read more

The wife and I have never done an escape room before so we really did not know what to expect. If you've never done one I would highly recommend Arcane as a starter. Unfortunately I do not remember the employees name that helped us out, but he was awesome. He took the time to explain everything, but was very careful to not give away any secrets. His instructions gave us enough confidence to think we can do this, but still left us in the dark on what was coming. Since it was just two of us we did the hideout. I assumed these rooms were a couple of tricks and your done. Nope. The puzzles were very complex, but nothing was impossible. It did take a lot of thinking and talking between us so we could figure it out. We were provided clues when we were way off base. We got out with just a few minutes to spare and sounds really helped ramp up the stress towards the end. I'm really looking forward to getting a few friends together and trying out their other room. read more

It was really fun. I think "The Agency" was a little long to try and finish in an hour. The flashlight was a little dim, luckily we had our own, otherwise we would have never made it out. But, still tons of fun! I highly recommend this place if you like escape rooms. This one was more puzzle solving, rather than item finding like others.
