I called to see if they could install tires on a rim, they said they could. My phone said they close at 5:30pm so I showed up at 4:55pm. The owner said they close in 6 minutes and that I can come back at 8am. I came back at around 8am and he said I could come back in 2 hours and that he already had a load of people ahead of me. I left and came back about 2 hours later at 10:30am. The owner said I would have to wait another 2 hours. I waited 3 hours and went inside to see if I was even waiting for service still a little confused. This worker came up to me and I asked him if I was still waiting. With no response he just points at the door staring at me. I was even more confused and he started talking to me about my car and how I need to wait really really creepy tone barely saying three words at a time. Both the owner and his worker seem a little off, I did nothing but greet them with a smile when I first showed up In my little car. Joe is the definition of an skilled and ethical businessman. Had a really nice slightly bent volk forged wheel that he was able to send to a friend and fixed flawlessly.. saved me $1,200. Took a new set of tires and wheels in to be mounted and balanced. I requested to put the tires to spec PSI 33 front 34 rear. And to torque the lug nuts to spec 95lbs and not just smash them on with the air gun and was told it makes no difference. I stayed quiet knowing it does make a difference. I was also hassled over the PSI request. Again told It makes no difference. so I get the tires put on and I have my 1 year old in the back seat I get on the 101 going to eureka and my car instantly feels unstable and wobbly and unsafe as soon as I got over 30 mph a minute later my TPMS light comes on. I get to eureka and check my tire PSI One tire was almost set to the correct PSI at 40 THE OTHER 3 were all over inflated. One of them was even 85 PSI. I corrected the PSI in my tires and now the car feels fine. I go back to let them know I they messed up big time and I'm Not happy about it and the guy apologized for giving me a hard time and for not doing the job correct and as he was apologizing I smelled alcohol on his breath. I would love to leave a great review about how friendly and good of a job they did but instead they get this honest review. read more

They fixed a flat for me a couple months ago and i didn't have $10 bucks on me at the time - the owner told me no worry and just give it to me the next time you see me... yesterday i needed two back tires for my wifes vehicle, that were not road safe, i was quoted $300 from a competitor, whew and right at the holidays... there goes my families holiday i thought i stopped by arcata used tire just to compare and was told $40 less on a better set of rubber, though it was still more than i had budget for - the owner went upstairs and found a really good set of used tires the right size for the vehicle to get us through the winter, most likely the year, and they had them on the car in less than an hour and i was out the door for a little over $100 bucks... they saved our families holiday and helped keep us safe on the road this year and have always showed kindness and compassion in all my dealings with them and i highly reccommend to anyone needing new or used tires for their vehicles. 00007 read more

First off, I have no concerns about tire quality or fairness of prices at Arcata Used Tires. I did, however, have a negative employee interaction that colors my feelings about the business. First off, it's important to note that I am a woman and my husband came with me so we could drive back in a car together after dropping off the one I drove in with. I walked in first and told the employee, a young man who appeared to be in his 20s, that I was dropping off my car for new tires, as we had just discussed over the phone. He rattled off some numbers at me to confirm what tires I was getting, and when I didn't have the tire numbers I needed memorized, he began to lecture me about how it was "just like memorizing a phone number." I told him my husband might remember the number and he then he proceeded to walk over to my car and made a remark about "unless your husband is the reader of the pair," you can read the numbers on the wheel. This was a very belittling and direspectful way to treat a customer, not to mention misogynistic. I hope that the Arcata Used Tires sees this review and works on the customer service skills of their employees. Customers should feel valued and respected, not belittled. read more

The guys here are awesome ! I would rather go here than American tires or les schwab. My tire pressure kept going low after filling with air twice so I figured it had to be a nail or something stuck. I was on my way to my usual popular tire place in Eureka but decided to check around Arcata on yelp. This place looked legit so I drove by to get an estimate. They were quick and cheap. He got the tire off and spotted the nail right away. Patched me up and I was in and out within 10 minutes. Been a few weeks now and my tire hasn't given me problems since. read more

As a starving college student I WOULD NEVER go here again! AND regret going here. I went on a friends recommendation that they were cheap and fast. Dropped my car off that got a flat due to the arcata pot holes. I asked for a consultation before any major work was to be done --- DID NOT GET THAT! They immediately without asking changed the tire out and charged me 90$! I WOULD NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN! They completely by passed consulting me for this huge expense, as a college kid where 90 dollars is about a month of groceries for me. Extremely disappointed and pissed. PLUS they didn't even fix it all the way they said the wheel itself was bent all they did was slap a tire on there ---- almost a 100 dollar band aid these assholes put on my car! So i have to go to a different place to get my wheel fixed -- all they did was put a shit tire on and charged me out the ass for something they likely got for 5 bucks! I'm only giving four stars because I haven't gone in just yet. I have a feeling it will be a big fat FIVE as soon as I get there. I've been calling around all morning looking for a replacement tire for my Ford Focus. My current tire has wires sticking out everywhere and is so bad my husband won't even let me drive to the grocery store. I had just gotten off the phone with Eureka Tire and was feeling stupid and thoroughly insulted. I ran across this place on Google and gave them a call because of their excellent reviews, and I am glad I did!! They carry my tire and have used ones that fit perfectly into my very tight budget. The guy on the phone was very helpful and friendly, and I'll be heading over to get my new tire as soon as my husband gets out of the shower. UPDATE: It dropped a star. Apparently the size of my tires is the wrong size for my car (I've replaced three different tires at three different locations and they've all given me the same size that is on there) and they don't have my tires used. So instead of paying $20 for a tire and barely being able to afford it, my entire grocery budget just went to paying for two of the "right size" (two sizes bigger) tires on the front. They also apparently charge extra to put the tires on (first place I've ever heard of doing that, other places I've been to give you the price and it includes the tires being mounted) so after borrowing some money from my dad it's still costing my entire food budget, AND apparently it's going to take about two hours! Now I've gotta figure out how to feed my husband and myself until payday. read more

After getting a flat tire on 101 monday night, I knew I had to get new tires as there was no way any shop would repair my tire due to low tread. Was hoping to hold off until I got my xmas bonus :-) checked Les Schwab and Costco ($200 + per tire, and Costco did not have them in stock, 5-8 days). Called Arcata Used Tires and Wheels and spoke with Joe. Told him up front that I was price shopping, and he still was friendly and informative. As I am not a "car guy" or mechanically inclined in any way, I asked him which tires he would put on his own vehicle. He responded with " the first I quoted you ($160). He didnt have them in stock but said he would have them the next day. Dropped of the truck at 9:15 and he had it ready when I got off work a few hours later.
