When I needed to find a new care giver I was concerned since she had been at the humane society twice, so I wanted the best environment I could find for her. Williamsburg was one place recommended to me. When I visited, I felt very good about the facility and people. The facility was very clean, well organized and staffed. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in the animals under their care. My dog certainly seemed to enjoy her stays (and for a time she was there more than she was at home). She came to know the staff and was always happy to see them. The staff knew her and always treated her so nicely. She was always happy to arrive and just as happy when I came home. While I no longer travel as much, Williamsburg remains the place I trust to take care of my dog. She always seems happy to see the staff and I've been very happy with the service I have received.

The cut is uneven, particularly around her face, which appears choppy and not well blended. Her paws were also not cleaned up to the standard I expected. The areas of greatest concern are her armpit and belly, which were shaved extremely close. Her skin appeared irritated afterward, and there is a small area on her belly that looks consistent with a minor nick from the blade. I spoke with management to address these concerns and am currently requesting a refund based on the result and condition of the grooming. Overall, I am not satisfied with the service provided. If you have a long-haired or double-coated breed, I recommend clearly confirming grooming expectations in advance.

On the way to the hospital, he pulled it out with his teeth. I brought the nail into the hospital with us. During the visit, an exam lasting roughly 10 minutes was performed. When my dog was returned to me, I was asked whether the injured paw was the left one. I clarified it was the right paw. I was told that all paws had been checked and that no puncture wound could be located, though antibiotics and pain medication were prescribed as a preventative measure. They said he likely didn't step on it which was invalidating given that I saw him with it embedded in his paw. When I returned home I was able to immediately locate the injured area between the paw pads. Rowan remained in significant pain and distress that evening and required additional medication. The following morning my regular veterinarian examined him and documented swelling, inflammation, and trauma in that same paw. He was prescribed more medicine to manage his pain. My veterinarian explained that injuries from nails can puncture the paw and seal quickly due to surrounding inflammation, making the opening difficult to see hours later. Because the source of the injury was not identified during the exam despite being present, I requested a refund of the exam fee. The clinic declined. Emergency clinics are busy and I understand that, but missing the injury I came in for and then refusing to reconsider the charge was disappointing and concerning.

Everyone got along fine and we were all set to board our pups when my wife took ill and couldn't make the trip. I went without her and she was home with our dogs. Flash forward to December. We went to Las Vegas for 3 nights and left Tango and Jack with Mike and Beth. Communication was good and Mike sent us emails with photos and even a short video. The dogs are our "babies" and although we missed them very much, it did a lot to ease our minds about the care they were receiving while we were gone. I can highly recommend Mike and Beth of Howling Good Dog Boarding to anyone who needs to board a fuzzy family member. Now that we've found them, we will always leave the care of our dogs to them when we go out of town. Thank you Mike and Beth for taking such good care of our "boys."

Mike was great about sending me video & picture updates while we were on our trip. He's very knowledgeable about dogs, answered all my questions and my dog, Ozzie left happy and worn out! I felt MUCH better about leaving my best buddy in Mike's hands than at a big boarding facility where there's SO many dogs, so much potential for accidents, and not personalized to your dog. Mike is also insured (for peace of mind) and understands that dogs have quirks (mine has food allergies & separation anxiety). I'd give him 10 stars, if I could! We will be back!
