Update: so disappointed to have to update my review. I took my Shih Tzu here for years for grooming. And the dog I have now I boarded a few times and take her to get her nails trimmed. The last time she was boarding she came back with a bunch of dried blood on her ear. It was similar to the color of her so I didn't notice until after we'd been home for about an hour. They hadn't said anything when I picked her up and when I called to ask if something had happened they said that yes there was an altercation with another dog. That dog was no longer allowed to board. When I asked about the blood they said they must have missed it. Really upset they weren't planning to mention anything. I picked her up on a Wednesday in the altercation happened on Saturday before. I wish they would have called. And they were hoping I wouldn't notice the blood and weren't planning to tell me or they didn't do a good job of looking her over. read more

I've had good and bad experiences here. I flew off the handle when my 60 lb sheepadoodle wasn't done in 5.5 hrs. They never finished her and I paid full price. They blamed it on a dog bather that didn't show up. Wouldn't a call or text to me been a good business idea. It's not the groomer's fault. It is management fault. So 1.5 yrs later they do the same thing with my part border collie. I am furious they use the same excuse. Bad management. They should have called to reschedule. I cannot say nice enough things about my experience here! This was the first time I've been and will 100% be a regular. First off the staff was super friendly over the phone and when checking in to my appointment! They sent reminders and gave me an estimate cost of the service! Super great info to have before arriving! The place is a smaller shop but very clean, even smells great! You can tell they take a lot of pride in their shop and work. The stylist/groomer that took care of my pup was so kind and got down on my dogs level and made sure to interact, touch, and begin the relationship with my dog. She noticed quickly the different textures of my dogs coat and was really in tune with what I was looking for. The appointment took about 3 hours and everyone was so kind. this is amazing service for an amazing price. Briana is amazing!! She's groomed our Australian Bernedoodle 2 times now. It's always nerve racking to find a new groomer who properly cuts doodle breeds in fear that they shave them too short. I've had zero worries with Briana and A Walk In The Park. She does such a good job with doodle cuts, is very detail oriented, and a clear communicator about expectations and maintenance to maintain his cut. For reference, our dog's cut, bath, nail trim, etc. is $70 which we do every 6-8 weeks and we also do a bath in between which includes nail trim and sanitary cut and is ~$50. read more

I highly recommend A Walk In The Park. They treat dogs of all sizes, temperaments and health with love and care. My husband and I have been taking our dogs here to get groomed for almost 2 years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I do recommend that you plan ahead since they book up. Yes, it's annoying to have to plan your dogs grooming 3+ weeks out, and yes this would normally make me want to go somewhere else, but they're the best in my opinion and absolutely worth the wait. I will never take my dogs anywhere else. More details if you want them: For the record, we are absolutely those crazy dog parents. We don't have human kids, our dogs are our kids. One is a senior and the other is middle aged with major separation anxiety. They're both relatively large and get skiddish around other dogs due a devastating attack from another dog at a dog park (I was hospitalized for weeks it was so bad). Bc of the potential for behavioral issues we get nervous with new places. It's my biggest fear that our dogs have an incident and cause another dog the same trauma they encountered. The folks at a walk in the park went through every detail with us to ensure our comfort and the safety of everyone involved. We have never had an incident and our dogs don't seem traumatized when we pick them up like has happened at some other places. Additionally, as our senior dog aged her hips were getting very bad. They have these great tables that lower to the ground to make things easy for everyone and they took great care with her so her last grooming wasn't too physically taxing for her. We had to do a last minute cancellation as she became ill and they were beyond understanding. I have had nightmare scenarios with terrible groomers who should never be allowed to work on animals, and not so bad scenarios but my high strung dogs were totally freaked out by the dog management system. Grooming has always been a point of stress for me and since finding A Walk In The Park that stress is non existent. Knowing we have this place with reliably kind staff who will treat our fur babes like their own has been such a source of relief. read more

Very happy I found this groomer for my mutt mix (kinda chow, kinda shepherd, super cute). Their website is very detailed in giving prices for different services. My dog loves to shed, and I don't brush her enough, so I choose the furminator bath (with shampoo/conditioner and super shedding). Usually when I bathe her myself, she is shedding as soon as I pet her. Not so after this treatment. She feels soft and fluffy and doesn't leave a cloud of fur after snuggles on the couch. Another plus- she doesn't smell like old lady perfume when she's done. The grooming (haircut) here is also perfect. I've never been upset about her cut. I'm usually nervous about getting a dog back that I don't recognize, but they never cut her face/ears too close to make her look silly. The first time we went, she got a lovely bandanna. The second time, she came home with 2 little bows. Hilarious, but a thoughtful touch. read more

My dog is no judge because he hates the groomer and was unhappy from the moment he got out of the car. But he's the dog that doesn't even like other dogs..The customer service was great and they even let me pick ink pens from their assortment! The groomer came out to the lobby area to greet Carmelo and advised that she would text/call after his appointment. I opted for text. The lady in the office explained the additional services offered such as boarding and how personal the experience is. This location is about ten minutes from my house and that's another plus! Drove from WestCo to go to the best rates dog groomer in STL. Beautiful little building ans they really made good air of the space they have in the city. I have a 7 year old malamute who has been getting groomed every month for the last 5 years. I told them I wanted a deshedding bath, brushing out all of his coat he was losing, and to trim the hair between his paw pads - this is what's important to me. He came back looking so shiny and soft - but still gobs of hair falling off of him because they barely brushed him out. It's now several days later and he's still lumpy with buckets of hair falling out. I expected more on the brushing front and initially that's all I was upset about... and then I realized they shaved his groin. No one asked me if I wanted this (and by his face DEFINITELY no one asked him either), he came in the building *never* being shaved in his life, and he was a little (extremely) upset about it. I'm not happy because 1.) you don't shave a husky or a malamute and 2.) no one asked! If a dog comes in un-shaved ... ask before you shave their hair off??? Nice people but I'm concerned about education of the staff if they think it's ok to shave a husky/malamute. read more

I took my dog Harper here for the first time today. She's an 8 year old dachshund mix with epilepsy and IVDD. I was pretty nervous to take her to a groomer because in the past she's had a seizure after coming home from the groomers. I've been grooming her myself for the past 5+ years but thought it was time to let the pros do it again. Jill was her groomer today and she was great! She asked a lot of questions about what I wanted done and listened to my concerns regarding Harper's epilepsy and IVDD. I paid an extra $10 to have her "expedited" meaning they called me right after she was done so Harper didn't have to wait in a cage. She was finished in an hour and 15 mins and she looks wonderful!! Exactly what I wanted and Harper seems happy too :) I will definitely return to have Harper groomed by Jill again. read more

He came out 3 hours later, sleek and velvety with a perfect mini-mohawk. Plus, he smelled yummy! The price was reasonable. It is always difficult to find a place to get a cat groomed. Not all groomers are cat people and some don't like working with them at all. That being said, I was so happy to read reviews and find A Walk in the Park! I have a 10 year old domestic longhair (Angel) and she is very fluffy. I have taken Angel to other grooming places before and the experience has always been just okay in my opinion. AWITP was a wonderful experience for me as an owner. I called to make an appointment on a Tuesday and they informed me that Angel could get in that Friday. I was shocked because usually I have had to wait a week or longer. I scheduled the appointment and after talking with the groomer I actually felt good about this place. She seemed friendly and caring. I dropped Angel off this morning around 7:30. When I arrived I was greeted by the groomer and she asked me to fill out some paperwork. I also had to provide the rabies vaccination record to her for their files. Thankfully she informed me of this earlier in the week so I was prepared! After filling out the paperwork and giving all of the information needed it was time for me to say goodbye to my little fur-ball. She would be ready soon for pick-up. I was expecting a phone call in the afternoon, but the groomer called around 9 to let me know she was all ready to go. That was fast! Angel has a nice new haircut (a complete shave) and she smells nice too! Thank you A Walk In the Park. I know we'll be back again soon!
