This may be the smallest of the Archie Moore's restaurants but it does not lack in service and good vibe. Service was excellent in bar area. Several televisions broadcasting sports. This is my first time in Branford; I usually go to Milford even though it's further for me. I go for the wings and the nachos and was afraid they'd be different between the two locations. They were just the same. The wings were pretty good but the nachos are insane. The toppings are though out the entire pile of chips, not just on top. Proud of myself! Been going to Archie's for year ( primarily New Haven) and this was the first time I order something different, well in addition to wings. The grilled cheese was filled with cheese. So gooey and yummy. Forgot to ask for a side of mustard, so I dipped it in the wing sauce. Yum!!! Had the cucumber Mule, I recommend stirring it first before drinking. Lol. Tucked in a courtyard with indoor and outdoor seating this New Haven Restaurant chain has been in Branford a few years. The reviews state it is known for its wings. They were ok, but just that. On the night we arrived we were sat quickly and kindly by an attentive staff. The environment was clean and pub looking. Both tables and booths are available. There are two big flat screens showing sports. (One had the Red Sox Game one had the COPA soccer tournament, neither had the Yankees game. Either a good thing or not depending on your loyalties I guess). Along with beer we ordered appetizers including the 24-buffalo wings and warm pretzels. Honestly maybe I bought the hype about the wings and though the wings would be really good but they were very dry and tough. The sauce was very good but I got the sense they had no idea of how to prep cook and serve the order. For $25 I felt very disappointed. Maybe a bad night in the kitchen. The pretzels were good and the sauce they were served with hit the spot. They went well with the large selection of crafted beers we chose from. For dinner we had the bison burgers. They were cooked well and served with a generous portion of fries. As I mentioned the staff was attentive and polite. On a Wednesday night the place was full and the fun-commotion of a full restaurant added a nice note to dinner. Aside from the disappointment from the wings I will say that for two guests who ate 2 appetizers, two burgers and 2 beers a bill of $105 prior to the tip seems a bit of a bite (pun intended). My husband and I (black) came in and stood next to them since there were no available seats left at the bar. Our friends let us know that the first round of drinks were on them. My husband and I have been waiting for this Archie's to open for what feels like forever! We are so excited to have a casual, family friendly restaurant, with great bar food on the shoreline! When we lived in Milford we went to Archie's a few times a month and lived for the Buffalo chicken nachos but have since moved up the shoreline. Happy to report that the nachos in Branford did not disappoint... layered nachos with cheese and toppings, so well done!!! I think we went the first or second Sunday they were open and they did an amazing job! Great service as well as tasty food, they even split our kids meal on separate plates for them. Finally got to go here on Friday. Went around 4:00 p.m. there wasn't that many tables inside full perfect time to go. I love that there's a beautiful outdoor eating area in like a courtyard as well. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich with cheddar cheese that was delicious, both of my parents ordered the Asian chicken salad but my mother's a vegetarian and she had a beyond Burger on top which was not an extra charge. They also have I guess special menus for days of the week and they ordered for appetizer green bean fries which were actually pretty delicious. Also ordered two items to go that she said she would wait until we were almost done to put in I ordered a 14-piece Thai chili chicken wings & a Greek salad w/ grilled chicken. I didn't even ask but they put the grilled the chicken it in a separate container so the salad would not wilt. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! So glad we finally got to go so many menu options huge menu front / back. I'll definitely be going there more often as well as ordering takeout. This is definitely what Brandford needed it's like elevated bar food as well as some delicious concoction/inventions. The atmosphere was very different than the New Haven location, the music was terrible they had playing I'm guessing because most of the dining room staff were young that's why the music was not the good pub music like that of the New Haven location. While we waited for our food a waitress (not ours) with dark hair was going back n forth into the kitchen and each time she came out she was using her Vape! NOT sanitary or good manners while working in a restaurant!
