It is dark and impossible to read the menu. The fries were on the greasy side and I have definitely eaten in restaurants that were better cared for by the owners and cleaner; unkept bathrooms are always a bad sign. Attention to detail seemed to be lacking. Salmon and chicken were dry. The dressings and sauces were all canned... mediocre effort at best. Went on a Sunday during the football game, nice atmosphere Burger and onion rings were tasty. Server dropped off my food and never came back to check on me or refill my drink. Had to track her down to pay my bill. Maybe it was just to busy for the 2 servers who were on. Will try again next time in town because the food was good. read more

First time here... very friendly and welcoming environment. Only one lady was handling all of the tables and although there weren't many guests it did take long for service; however based on the atmosphere we could tell this is a laid back place. Wings (sweet chilli) 10/10 ... crispy yet very flavorful Cup of New England Clam Chowda 9/10 delicious, LOTS of clams and good sized bacon pieces. Fried calamari 8/10 huge appetizer portion, well seasoned Steak & Cheese sub upgraded side to fries 9/10 real steak, well seasoned but does need some mayo to avoid being dry. read more

The food very good. I had a bowl of clam chowder which was full of clams and the fish and chips which was very well seasoned and good. My husband had meatball grinder which had fresh meatballs and the marinara was really good. I highly recommend going to Brother Mike's. The food was fresh. The service was good. read more

Just a quick update. Recently went in for lunch and happy to see as always at the food quality and atmosphere has sustained the number of years this restaurant has called Madison at home. However, just a quick suggestion; we have been coming in regularly for years and always order the " Chowder Fries". They are a unique off menu appetizer that is praised by those who know. Unfortunately this visit, the waiter said he had never heard of chowder fries and when I asked him to check in with the chef, the chef said he no longer makes them. I'm hoping the kind and generous owners will reconsider placing this cherished item back on the menu. In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy the great meals, wonderful atmosphere and Hometown connection this restaurant has grown to deserve. read more

Food very good, nice selection, always very loud as it's a sports bar so don't go for a romantic quiet dinner. Fish and chips as well as Greek salad with steak tips recommended. Other sandwiches also very good.....service is usually very good as well. read more

Our first time visiting Brother Mikes. Very nice/small restaurant with a long bar. We were each going to get nachos, but our friendly waitress Holly said that one order would easily feed us both....and boy did it. I did get chicken on the side for the nachos. The portion was so large that I had enough leftovers of the chicken to make 2 chicken salad sandwiches. The wine was spot on with a decent pour. Not a lot of tables so I suggest getting there early. To sum it up....food was great, drinks were great, atmosphere was great and out waitress was pleasant, friendly and helpful. read more

Nice place with very good food. The menu choices are good because there's something for everyone!! The server was friendly and efficient. Only thing I didn't care for is the long table in the middle - but there are booths around the rest of the room. Food is fresh and well presented. 2 stars for bartender being pleasant but hardly responsive. Other than that the drink was tiny.. Aperol spritz in a champagne flute. Way too small a serving although she left the rest of the little single serve Prosecco . The bar was dirty and never wiped down. There was an extremely intoxicated guy next to me who knocked his drink over and splashed on my area and no one blinked an eye... not even bartender. Food menu was unappealing as well. Made a connection from years ago with Dan Mulvey holding up the bar at Brother Mikes. Local establishment at the end of Academy just off the Village Green in Madison. Cocktails, beer and wine, and eat at the bar or table side. Dan is there every Sunday. He is a legend in teaching, mixology and the occasional joke he shares. Menus looks great and servers friendly. Plenty of screens for viewing your favorite sport. read more

Yuck Yuck Yuck. Just moved to Madison from Austin, TX and am completely turned away from this place. They have happy hour specials posted to their website, yet they claim to have done away with happy hour "4 or 5 years ago." I ordered a side of onion rings.... and 10 minutes later, found out they had no onion rings. The design of the restaurant and atmosphere are for the birds. Will go to Donahues from now on. read more

Saw on the menu that they had beer battered fish and chips. even spoke to waitress how I really wanted beer battered fish because one of my favorite places in Madison no longer served it that way. she was surprised and wondered why a restaurant would change. so I ordered the fish and chips. out came an enormous portion of fish that was clearly not beer battered. we asked about it and she was confused as well. later she came back and acknowledged that yes they were no longer beer battered. that was it. did not like the coating as it tasted like Morton's Seasonal. inside fish was very good after scraping off coating. Very disappointed. I will not be back. Please change your menu to properly reflect what you are serving. read more

Didn't love this place the first time we came- dead of winter and so cold- they had just opened for the day. However, we gave it another shot a couple weekends back and we were glad we did! Friendly, efficient service (but not rushed). I had a BLT and my husband had a turkey club. The onion rings were great too. The tuna tartare type dish they had was so fresh as well! We will be back. Great casual spot and GOOD FOR KIDS. We had our toddler and baby and they enjoyed splitting a cheeseburger from the kids menu. read more

Surprised an old friend in Madison, CT and she surprised me with a great meal at Brother Mike's! I knew I was in for a great experience as soon as I was greeted at the Hostess stand. This is obviously a local's favorite, the chatter and energy was lively and friendly. The menu is diverse and has something for everyone. I decided on the CA burger with blue cheese instead of American cheese on a Brioche bun, a must, along with sweet potato fries. I included a picture and only wish I had taken it before I cut it in half. Unbelievable burger. Topped off the burger with a chocolate Lava cake served with home made vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Carol, our waitress was fast, efficient and very friendly, as was every one I had contact with. I enjoyed my meal and visit so much, I returned the next night for another meal. This time I chose the Fish and Chips anticipating it being a tad better than I can get in AZ. The Cod looked like a whale stretching over the plate on both ends and was cooked to perfection. Many times fish and chips have soggy fish due to poor preparation or old oil. That won't happen here. If you're in Madison you must try Brother Mike's, you'll love the food, service, people dining along side you and if a sports fan, the highest quality TV monitors I've seen in a sports bar. Brother Mike's is a comfortable and friendly neighborhood restaurant. A solid menu of apps, sandwiches and burgers along w a dozen or so entrees means there's something for everybody. We've been 4-5 times and have enjoyed wings, a Reuben, wedge salad, patty melts and club sandwiches. The bartenders are friendly and attentive and waitstaff is great too. Give it a try! The hostess was wonderful - and the wait staff was friendly. The place was packed! (Another restaurant in town closed due to a kitchen fire) We were trying to get in and out so as to catch a movie downtown. Our soups came out quickly. The staff was going crazy and the bar was full. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. (We have lost 2 breakfast hangouts in town) It's a pub menu and the menu slants that way and to burgers. Know that going in. Our onions soups were very good and nice and hot. The fish and chips were nice and the spaghetti and meatballs was ok. I would have preferred grated cheese to the melted cheese. The meatballs were good. I felt the sauce could have been thicker. We made the movie. The iPads are in use and made checkout faster. read more

I was at the shoreline, came here last Wednesday evening, the bar area was packed. I was seated at a booth. I didn't know what I wanted from the menu, decided on the Wednesday's special which is BBQ. And that Wednesday was "the brisket". I also have Cranberry vodka mixed with soda. The food didn't take long, it was nice and hot. I was served with three piece of 1" thick brisket, french fries & slaw. The brisket was SO Tender, juicy and savory, the french fries wasn't greasy at all. What a wonderful place to eat and have a beer or two. Brilliant friendly service, delicious food, a great atmosphere and local to us. We had nachos to start and added the steak bites on our waitresses recommendation and boy it was delicious! Followed by the filet mignon again our waitress recommended.
