    Strawberry shortcake - delicious
    Robin S.

Returned for my birthday lunch and was not disappointed. Outside patio was full so we opted for a nice table in the bar area. Very cozy. Our orders were taken promptly and brought out not long after. Never a long wait. Concerns when they asked if they could bring it all at once and I said apps first please which they did. Food arrived and my I'm never disappointed with the portion size. Always clean and fresh. I ate almost all of them. Then they found out it was my birthday so they insisted I have dessert. I opted for strawberry shortcake. Now it seemed like the short cake was homemade. If I'm wrong then they have an amazing place to order from. It was a fantastic birthday lunch. I'll be back

This was some of the best seafood I've ever eaten! Even more so than places we've visited on the Pacific. Both my Hubby and I wanted to stay away from fried, because when you dine at a place like this, you want their best shot. He loved his Baked Stuffed Scrod, and my Baked Salmon was perfect. So flaky and flavorful. Ironically, my SIL who has never eaten seafood went for Fish & Chips for a first try, and really enjoyed it. But we all know fried seafood is a gateway drug lol. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and it was beautiful to sit on the patio deck on a nice Spring late afternoon. I will say after reading the poor reviews for this place, that some folks are really just too needy and miserable. Lenny's is amazing!

Food was delicious... sat on the back deck. The views of the marsh were beautiful and the wildlife. Weather was great... atmosphere was friendly. Good music playing... waitress was very attentive and pleasant... would DEFINITELY go back!!

Giving Lenny a second shot, I put in my name at the front desk, and it was a 45 minute wait for lunch on a Saturday. Today's choice was to sit outside on the back deck with a bar. The weather was sunny and hot, and great music was playing. This felt very festive, and very comfortable. The waitress came over with cups of ice water, took a drink order, and also our food order because we were ready I ordered a draft beer, along with the seafood platter with whole belly clams at roughly $35. Within 10 minutes, my lunch arrived. And there it was, whole belly clams, a nice piece of white fish, huge colossal fried shrimp, and some fried sea scallops. Under all this glory of some nicely seasoned string french fries Included with this lunch was a nice order of coleslaw, that was oil and vinegar and sweet based. This hit the spot. So let me get back to the clams and all the fried goodness. After not leaving the most stellar rating the last time I was here, this fried goodness was spot on delicious flavors exploding, a generous portion of the fish, the clams, the scallops, and the shrimp. All of these fresh seafood's could be compared to some of the best fried seafood platters in the state. Also, on the side was a nice lemon, which, along with red cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce. Both had nice flavor to them. Sitting on this deck, enjoying lunch, listening to music with good friends, reminded me of all the best of times in Florida at the beach. If you don't mind the sun and heat, or it's really nice out, I would highly recommend sitting out on the back deck for lunch or dinner. Our server was prompt, courteous, polite, professional, and service with a smile. She well deserved the 25% tip. Lenny's whole belly claps are some of the best in the state. I hope you get to try some and enjoy the experience.

My friends and I visited on a weeknight. We ordered stuffed clams, clam chowder and lobster bisque as appetizers. The stuffed clams were ok. My friends seemed to enjoy their soups. We each ordered a different entree and shared an order of onion rings, which were good. I ordered the fried seafood platter. Breading was a bit heavy on the clam strips and scallops were a bit briny, but overall good and was a nice portion served with french fries. Coleslaw and tartar sauce were tasty as well. Waitress was unremarkable. No personality whatsoever. If able to give half stars, this would be a solid 3.5.

A delightful Fall day to sit on the deck and enjoy some fresh seafood. We shared a plate of whole belly clams, fries and coleslaw. The serving was plenty for two . It was lightly breaded and delicately seasoned. The clams were the best we have had all season The fries were also hand cut and delicious. Perfect lunch

Honestly, the biggest problem was the entree was too big! I was doing an overnight and couldn't bring the fries with me. Also, the popularity of the ice cream and lack thereof for me also made me sad. Anyway, there is outdoor parking and the lot is huge. The lot was also very full, I was lucky to find a spot close to the door. The interior was very wood, and I was offered to eat outside by the musician. I went for inside because I could use the light after all that driving. The lobster bisque was a good consistency and real lobster! Very tasty. The local oyster also delicious, very chilled. The fried clams had a great crunch and good coating, and even though I enjoyed the fries, I couldn't take them. Sigh. But overall I had a fantastic meal. Everything was clean, including the restroom. The waitress was trying not to show she was moving people along, but it was also near close so I admire her patience and good manners.

First time here, place was packed. My mom and I were able to grab the bar. For how busy it was the bartender was good. The lobster roll was amazing. Lobster was fresh and tasty. The green beans are amazing too. I will definitely be back.

Have never had a bad meal at Lenny's. We visit 3-4 times a year. Honestly the best lobster roll in CT. We also LOVE the walk-up dairy bar. (I don't believe they'll ever have chocolate ice cream though- only vanilla.) The service is always friendly.

We came here for a quick bite before heading back to Manhattan. The oysters were fresh, the clam chowder was good, and the fried clams were crispy. I've never had fried clams before and thought they were good. This is an old school diner, so if you're looking for fancy, this isn't it. The food was pretty decent, and the service was friendly.

Really unsure why this place doesn't have higher ratings when it's to die for. We showed up around 6pm on a Tuesday with a party of 3. There was about a 30 minute wait already - we got some drinks at the bar while we wanted. You will need to close out your bar tab before moving to your table. We ordered the lobster roll and a dish to share. You might be asking - where's the roll? It's buried under all that fresh lobster! So delicious. Can't wait to be back.

Sitting by the water gives the restaurant a laid back, summer seafood spot feel that makes it easy to enjoy your time there. That said, if you're looking for a restaurant with a wide variety of seafood options or more creative seafood preparations, this probably isn't the place to go. We started with the chips and guacamole appetizer, which tasted good, but the portion size was pretty small for the price. The raw little neck clams were one of the highlights of the meal, very fresh, clean tasting, and exactly what you'd want from a seafood spot. For entrées, the cod sandwich was surprisingly solid. It was a nice size, fairly priced, and felt like one of the better values on the menu. The ahi tuna wrap was also good overall, but it felt like it was missing a stronger or more flavorful dressing to really bring everything together. The lobster roll was decent, but for the price, there simply wasn't enough lobster in it to justify the cost. Overall, there were definitely some enjoyable parts of the meal, especially the fresh shellfish and the waterfront atmosphere. The biggest downside was the pacing of service, as there were long waits between dishes throughout the meal. Still, for a casual waterfront stop with straightforward seafood options, Nellie's delivers a decent experience.

This is something you would get as part of your dinner experience in another restaurant. Especially none of the meals come with a salad. My appetizer was the Stacks. Waitress said it came with seasonal vegetables to include squash etc, it didn't. It had kalamata olives and lots of capers. It made for a salty bite every time. I picked out all the capers. It was a very small portion of fish and risotto for $40. The farro salad, we added ahi tuna. Tuna had no flavor, no seasoning or crust. Very little farro or butternut, mostly lettuce. Cuban, heavy bread ratio. Otherwise was good. Three drinks were good: passionfruit mojito, guava coco margarita, were the average price for a drink out these days. The Oxford spritz was $25 dollars--that's insane... if we knew that price, would never have ordered. Apps: king pao dumplings, wish I took a picture -- they were beyond mini. Waste of money IMO. Yuca fries were a little undercooked to be creamy (we've had them other places better). Shrimp tacos were good. On a Friday night: only two tables outside were filled, 3 other tables inside besides ours from 630/830. When they first opened, you couldn't get in without a reservation as people were getting in to try it. My guess is people aren't returning. We wouldn't either unfortunately. Restaurant scene is competitive in Branford and for price and portion, it's just not gonna meet the mark--in my opinion

The view from the deck was also excellent, and the cocktails themselves were delicious. A lot of the appetizers were very good. The tuna tartare and the mussel curry were both inspired dishes; the mussels in the sauce had great flavor, though the portion sizes overall felt small. The blistered snap peas with preserved lemon were also delicious. That said, for a place with "oyster" in the name, we expected a wider or higher-quality selection, perhaps including some from Canada, rather than the fairly standard options from CT and MA. Unfortunately, the main dishes missed the mark for us and didn't offer enough food. The sea bass was overcooked. the accompanying lima beans weren't cooked all the way through, and the dish lacked depth of flavor. The shrimp main also fell short, with the shrimp having a very odd, mushy bland flavor. To finish, the pot de crème had so much cream and so little actual chocolate that there was almost no chocolate flavor. On a separate note, navigating the QR code menu was pretty obnoxious. Restaurants should really just offer traditional paper menus; people stare at screens all day and come out to engage with each other, not look at a phone again, and constantly have it on the table. While I appreciate Fair Haven Oyster's creative concepts, their tinned fish with pickled sides, and their great starters, the execution on the mains and the portion sizes left something to be desired, especially at these price points. This was probably our sixth time going to Fairhaven Oyster. We've been going over the past few years and my overall takeaway is that I will definitely return for the drinks, the great atmosphere, and some appetizers, but will not be ordering mains.

Our table was cramped on an uneven edge of the fireplace. The positives: The arancini was amazing, great flavor, and a great sauce. We had the blackened scallops and risotto which was fantastic! It's clear this is a staple in town, however, we didn't leave with that impression. The cons: the salad came out pre-dressed which wasn't mentioned on the menu. It looked great presentation wise, however, not everyone likes Balsamic and it didn't say that on the menu. We would have asked them to make another on but the server/ bartender was incredibly busy. The water jug that they placed on the table was dirty. The chicken piccata was packed with flavor- however- the pasta was clearly overcooked. It was discolored and breaking apart; evidently cooked a few nights before and reheated in a pan. The pasta did not taste good. It is a large portion, and I'm sure it would've tasted better if it was fresh. We let our server know and she was apologetic. We asked our server if the desert had nuts in it. She stated the desert did not. We got a sambuca and double espresso that had biscotti. Unbeknownst, a few bites in, we discovered that there were in fact nuts in there. After the disappointment with dinner, we would have thought they'd comp at least a coffee since we barely ate any of it. We called the server over and asked for the bill- letting her know we had to get out of here as soon as possible to get the EpiPen. Overall, I'm sure their other items are great. The menu has a lot and it was hard to pick an entree. It is disappointing that this was our first experience there. We were there for 2 hours and will probably not be returning back.
