Hubby found this place highly rated in an online magazine. Since we had been searching CT for the best seafood restaurants, decided the 1 1/2 ride would be nice since it was also great weather. Arrived around 1:30pm and found the parking lot to be quite large and half empty. Loved that it had a dedicated parking lot. And we could see they had outside seating. Decided to stay inside. We were quickly seated and given menus. They had quite a selection of drinks. Returned quickly to get our drink order and returned quickly with our drinks. For appetizers, we chose the clams casino and NE clam chowder. Then, I chose the calamari platter and the hubby chose the fisherman's platter (which he ended up choosing the shrimps, cod, scallops and clam strip). The appetizers were divine! This was the best clam chowder I have tasted in so many years. The clams casino was also SO good! Definitely worth getting again and again. Then the entrees arrived. Portions were large. The calamari was great! Real calamari, rings and tentacles. So many places just give you soggy rings. These were crisp, real tasty calamari with no greasy texture. Unbelievable. Hubby's platter had so many choices. Fortunately, he shared pieces with me. Felt like I was in heaven. Everything was utterly delicious. And there was more. Normally the condiments and fries are just filler. Not the case here. Took a bite of the coleslaw and knew it was homemade. In fact, thought they used my homemade recipe, lol. Same goes for their own tartar sauce and cocktail sauce - homemade. The fries were also Real, hand cut fries. Not found in a bag. So this place is real special. It tells me they care about what they serve. I have read some of the ratings, post visit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I can say from our experience, this restaurant cares about their food and guests. And no one is perfect. I cook and can appreciate great food when I eat out. This is excellent. How many places make their own condiments? Really? If you want great seafood, this is the place. I definitely recommend this place and will be back! read more

Returned for my birthday lunch and was not disappointed. Outside patio was full so we opted for a nice table in the bar area. Very cozy. Our orders were taken promptly and brought out not long after. Never a long wait. Concerns when they asked if they could bring it all at once and I said apps first please which they did. Food arrived and my I'm never disappointed with the portion size. Always clean and fresh. I ate almost all of them. Then they found out it was my birthday so they insisted I have dessert. I opted for strawberry shortcake. We stopped for an early dinner this afternoon on our way home. This seaside restaurant has been around since 1968, and the interior feels warm and inviting. The bathroom was also very clean, which is always a good sign. Our waitress, Erica N., provided five-star service--warm, friendly, and professional throughout, always with a smile on her face. We each started with a New England clam chowder, which was quite tasty. For our entrées, my husband ordered the broiled seafood combination, while I chose the 1.75 lb baked stuffed lobster. Both dishes came with two sides - broccoli and baked potatoes. As for my stuffed lobster, the presentation was appealing, but the stuffing lacked the seafood I was hoping for. I'm used to seeing stuffing filled with shrimp, scallops, and sometimes lobster meat, but this one seemed to be mostly breadcrumbs. My husband felt similarly about his entrée--he found it just okay. Overall, while the food didn't fully meet our expectations, the restaurant's long-standing history, inviting atmosphere, and especially the excellent service made for a pleasant experience. This was some of the best seafood I've ever eaten! Even more so than places we've visited on the Pacific. Both my Hubby and I wanted to stay away from fried, because when you dine at a place like this, you want their best shot. He loved his Baked Stuffed Scrod, and my Baked Salmon was perfect. So flaky and flavorful. Ironically, my SIL who has never eaten seafood went for Fish & Chips for a first try, and really enjoyed it. But we all know fried seafood is a gateway drug lol. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and it was beautiful to sit on the patio deck on a nice Spring late afternoon. Giving Lenny a second shot, I put in my name at the front desk, and it was a 45 minute wait for lunch on a Saturday. Today's choice was to sit outside on the back deck with a bar. The weather was sunny and hot, and great music was playing. This felt very festive, and very comfortable. The waitress came over with cups of ice water, took a drink order, and also our food order because we were ready I ordered a draft beer, along with the seafood platter with whole belly clams at roughly $35. Within 10 minutes, my lunch arrived. And there it was, whole belly clams, a nice piece of white fish, huge colossal fried shrimp, and some fried sea scallops. Under all this glory of some nicely seasoned string french fries Included with this lunch was a nice order of coleslaw, that was oil and vinegar and sweet based. This hit the spot. So let me get back to the clams and all the fried goodness. After not leaving the most stellar rating the last time I was here, this fried goodness was spot on delicious flavors exploding, a generous portion of the fish, the clams, the scallops, and the shrimp. All of these fresh seafood's could be compared to some of the best fried seafood platters in the state. Also, on the side was a nice lemon, which, along with red cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce. Both had nice flavor to them. Sitting on this deck, enjoying lunch, listening to music with good friends, reminded me of all the best of times in Florida at the beach. If you don't mind the sun and heat, or it's really nice out, I would highly recommend sitting out on the back deck for lunch or dinner. Lenny's is a solid choice for fresh well-prepared seafood. Our recent visit was the restaurant choice of a friend for her birthday. The vibe at Lenny's is friendly and welcoming. The waitstaff is accommodating without smothering the guest. Our order of steamers was immense and satisfying. The birthday girl raved about the scallops - sweet and fresh. My friends and I visited on a weeknight. We ordered stuffed clams, clam chowder and lobster bisque as appetizers. The stuffed clams were ok. My friends seemed to enjoy their soups. We each ordered a different entree and shared an order of onion rings, which were good. I ordered the fried seafood platter. Breading was a bit heavy on the clam strips and scallops were a bit briny, but overall good and was a nice portion served with french fries. Coleslaw and tartar sauce were tasty as well. First time at Lenny's for lunch today with a group of 11 from the Senior Center. The atmosphere and food were good. Unfortunately the waitress Riley wasn't very kind. Three of the eleven sat at our table. We asked before we ordered if we could have separate checks, and she said yes. When it was time to pay for our meals, Riley brought over three small clip boards with each of our bills on them. Two of us clipped our credit cards to the appropriate bill, and the other paid in cash. Once they were retuned to us for signatures, we realized she had charged the wrong debit card for our dinners. We brought this to her attention and after waiting about 10 minutes, Riley came back with new debit card slips for each of us to sign with the appropriate charge, but did not have card slips showing that we were credited the amount for the incorrect charge. I asked if she could provide us with these slips. This is when it got ugly..... Riley's whole demeanor changed to sarcastic, talking down to us, using a stern voice stating that their computers don't do that and you'll see your credit in a few days, and this happens all the time here! My question to Riley was what if it doesn't go through and we have nothing to show that the credit transactions took place? Now the two of us have 2 dinner charges on each of our debit cards until the 'credit' is posted to our cards 'In a few days'. There was no need to get sarcastic or talk down to the customer. Possibly Riley is in the wrong line of work?? Sorry that we won't be returning to Lenny's. I will be letting the Senior Center know our experience also. read more

Glad to have finally eaten here! I had lunch on a Sunday afternoon with two partners and the ambiance was very nice and not too crowded. I got the NE chowder and it was just like NE chowder is supposed to taste! I also got the stuffed clam appy and it was equally good. My partners got a cold lobster roll and Cessar salad with grilled chicken and they loved them both. The fries were very good as well. Honestly, the biggest problem was the entree was too big! I was doing an overnight and couldn't bring the fries with me. Also, the popularity of the ice cream and lack thereof for me also made me sad. Anyway, there is outdoor parking and the lot is huge. The lot was also very full, I was lucky to find a spot close to the door. The interior was very wood, and I was offered to eat outside by the musician. I went for inside because I could use the light after all that driving. The lobster bisque was a good consistency and real lobster! Very tasty. The local oyster also delicious, very chilled. The fried clams had a great crunch and good coating, and even though I enjoyed the fries, I couldn't take them. Sigh. But overall I had a fantastic meal. Everything was clean, including the restroom. I ordered the fish and chips, and my wife ordered the baked stuffed shrimp. What we liked was my meal came with two large pieces of scrod in a delicious thick batter. My wife's meal came with four baked stuffed shrimp, and the stuffing was delicious. We also ordered a pumpkin cognac cheesecake for dessert. Service was non-existent. Hostess sat us, didn't ask if we wanted a cocktail. We sat there for almost 15 minutes. Nobody came by other people were being seated and served. Worth the wait...there are two bars one inside and one on the deck overlooking the marsh. A bit loud as would be expected on a Friday night during the summer. We frequent this establishment when wanting fresh , delicious and large portions seafood.However, we went Christmas eve 2025 at 3 pm party of 9. First time that the food portions were very skimpy . This little gem is in Branford. It is a busy little (primarily) seafood spot. There are also a handful of non-seafood options. I typically grab a grilled chicken salad, hot dog or burger. All have always been delicious. The back patio and boat bar are the key spot on a beautiful summer day. There is a balanced amount of sun and shade. Boaters sometimes dock nearby and stop in for a visit. There is also a low gravel level for more outdoor seating. If the outside is not your thing or it's cold outside, there is a large indoor bar and seating area. In the summer, this place is like a party! It's always fun to stop by for a bite and a cocktail.
