I am on my annual Spring kick of visiting nurseries in the DFW area before it gets too hot here in Texas. It's also time to start planting my Spring and Summer gardens so it was a good time to visit this place that I have heard about for years but never been to. Fort Worth is off my beaten path, but it sounded like it was going to be worth the trip, and it was. There is an ambiance about the place that puts you right at home. It's an old school vibe that takes you back to 1934 when Archie Sr. founded the place. They have a nursery and also a landscape division, so if you are not a do-it-yourself person, they can take care of things for you. When you park and enter in, the first thing that hits you sit he size of the place, it's huge! They have an amazing selection and it is accompanied by fantastic customer service. And these are just nice friendly folks, they are extremely knowledgeable and can pretty much help you with any horticultural or landscaping need. read more

Now this is a quality garden nursery with great service. They helped me pick out two Texas Sage plants and mulch. They brought the plants to my car and used plastic to protect the car and loaded everything. A great overall selection and variety of flower garden plants too. This place is a family owned hidden gem that was established in 1934. They have a variety of pots, plants, tools, soil and merchandise for sale such as stickers and clothing. They have a decent outdoor selection of indoor and outdoor plants. They have a separate room for pots and plant care items. The staff are friendly and I got to meet the owner who inherited the family business. I picked up a couple of pots and plants at a reasonable price. I selected low maintenance plants for the office that are thriving and a beautiful addition to the office. I look forward to returning. read more

Not a bad little nursery. It has the look as this it's been there for quit a while in the same spot. Backs up next to a neighborhood and they've made some playful fun with the decoration against the fencing by by adding some facade that looks like old barns and old town shops. Looks real nice. Plants at this visit were a bit limited, tho this is going on across the DFW complex due to the heat and time of the season. They still had many annuals and a lot of the usual trees and bushes. They do have a really nice old greenhouse attached to the main building that houses house plants. Staff is always nice, we've been here a few times. I showed them a picture of an area I wanted to add plants and they advised me which would do well there. All the team members are friendly and approachable. I have always enjoyed going to Archies, even paying a little more due to the selection. However, after spending aa bundle just a week ago. I purchased many plants to redo the yard due to the ice storm damage. I selected 11 plants with the assistance of their knowledgeable help. 11 shrub plants at 19.95 each. We have been covered with rain since Memorial day. without question. I have watered the plants although the rain has done its bit. Out of the 11, 3 are green as can be. but the rest just curled up like there is something wrong. They told me they were dry. How can 3 be ok and the rest dry. They were all sitting in the same place to be planted and received the same rain and watering. I took them back with the receipt only wanting a replacement for the ones drying up. I was told "we don't guarantee our plants' and there was no replacement, period. Folks I had them a week!!! With a nursey as large as this and priced so high, this is just poor customer service. This place makes me feel like I have a green thumb even though I truly have 2 brown thumbs. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. Archies is such a cute place! The flowers are gorgeous and the atmosphere is so peaceful. I really enjoyed how my wife and I were able to shop freely with no pressure. Since we were knew we really didn't understand the process. I would have really liked for someone to have greeted us and asked if we were new to the place. But the Capricorn I am, if I need help I will ask. So when we were done shopping, I kindly mentioned that we were new. A gentlemen explained the process and we were good to go! Sooo bonus!! Here is a tip in my review lol: when enter the place, grab a wagon, pick some flowers and plants to your liking and then park your wagon by the gate. An employee will write up your ticket and then you go inside to pay. An awesome thing too was that they will box up the flowers and help them out to your car! Super nice!! Love this place! read more

With Spring in the air and my garden looking pretty sad I decided to look for a new nursery to try out. After doing some searching I found Archie's Gardenland. I went in the early afternoon of a weekday in the middle of the week and I was surprised how busy it was. There were a good number of people searching the aisles and getting beautiful looking plants to take home to their gardens. The location is tucked away just off Camp Bowie so it's easy to miss. Once you walk into the gates there's a lot of fun and whimsy to the nursery. There was a good selection of plants and all the prices seemed to be a lot better compared to some other nurseries I've been too. It also looked like they grew a lot of their own plants which is a plus to me. With a good selection, good prices, and a friendly staff it's defiantly a place I'll come to again. read more

This place is amazing. I ended up here because I moved down the street and it caught my eye every single time I'd drive by. I've always loved the outdoors and nature but I've never tried planting anything on my own or any type of gardening. That is until I set foot in here and felt inspired and intrigued. I'm a beginner and I knew nothing when I first started trying out the hobby of gardening and the employees here are so helpful. They offer help, suggestions, advice and secrets to anyone that cares to listen. Everyone I've ever encountered there has been very knowledgeable and excited to answer all of my questions! It's cool to have people to talk to about your new hobbies and stuff you're into and I appreciate that they hire all fellow plant lovers. I've never seen an unhappy employee there. I'll attach before and after pictures of my front garden to show just how much this place helped me find my love for gardening! Even if you don't want to start a big project it's just an awesome and interesting place to walk around and explore all their different rooms and plant sections on a day you find yourself out shopping or browsing. We've been to Archie's before and enjoyed the selection, but after our visit today we will not be going back. We brought my 73 year old mother as part of her birthday gift, to select some plants for her yard. It was our first time visiting since Covid started and we had called ahead regarding masks, social distancing, etc., and were reassured when we saw the sign in the parking lot saying that all employees have to wear masks. Unfortunately the first person we were greeted by was a blond woman wearing a see-through thin piece of colorful fabric with straps holding it to her head at the top, and the bottom was just flapping in the breeze. It was not a real mask at all. She also tried to come right up to us, multiple times, which is a trend we noticed with the employees, not really respecting social distancing or personal space. A few minutes later we round a corner and another employee is taking her mask off...to sneeze and blow her nose. At this point we're done. We helped my mom pick some things and head back around to the front where the sneezing employee and the fake mask employee are both standing by the front door. The sneezing employee asks us if we need any help and fake mask employee says in a snarky tone loud enough for us to hear "They're afraid. They don't want anyone near them." I told her as she walked by that no, we indeed did not want anyone with a fake mask near us. We got some attitude from the sneezing employee as she wrote up our ticket too, because we stood at a social distance. We've spent quite a bit of money at Archie's, but we will never go back. To have employees be allowed to blatantly disregard the company policy and be rude and condescending to customers who are concerned for their health and safety? Done and done. read more

I was just in Archie's and was going to purchase a macrame plant holder. I couldn't find a price so the lady checking me out said, "I think it is 49.95." She walked into a back room and came right back and said, "Yeah, it is 49.95." The price sounded very high in comparison to the others for sale and the other 2 I previously bought there. When I told the lady the price didn't seem correct she said, "Do you want to wait?" I looked closely at the holder again and found the price which was 29.95. A lady standing behind me said..."Wow, that's not even close!" The lady checking me out didn't even apologize for almost charging me double!
