I like this place most of the time, but I stopped in today and the cashier/manager on duty was nothing but rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. I realize in a busy environment orders can get out of hand but having such a rude worker at the front cashier is not a good look, to say the least. proceeded to leave us hanging to check on something mid-order. Husband and I stopped here after a long day of traveling and brewery stops. The Archie Burger and the VT bacon Cheeseburger totally hit the spot and was just what we needed to end our day. Date night! I was so happy to see that they had cheerwine soda from down south in the fridge! Never seen it up north and have always wanted to try it. That alone just made my day. I got a philly cheesesteak and the amazing flavorful chips! There was no disappointments from my end only damn, its all gone! My husband on the other hand, didn't like his burger, it was undercooked, too pink in the middle and apparently it tasted strongly like pickles. I concur the food is great. I'm vegetarian and had the Greek salad. It was amazingly flavorful. Spouse had Horseradish burger with first bite he stated "Oh man that's yummy." Extremely slow service. It took one hour and forty minutes minutes to get two burgers and fries on a Thursday night. The food is great, but it's not worth the wait especially when it took forty minutes longer than the pickup time we had received. When we arrived at our pickup time, they said it would seven more minutes. We waited fifteen and then they said it would just another minute. We waited a few more minutes and they said it would take fifteen. No apologies, just "we're busy". read more

First time checking this spot out and it in its new location. The outside is still under a bit of construction but appeared to be wrapping up. The inside was clean, new and had great energy. Fast food-esque but with a fresh spin to it. The menu had a variety of options, local booze like Citizen Cider, Frost, etc. to pick from and homemade ice cream (so damn good). I went with the chicken tender sandwich with fries - and I was NOT disappointed. I couldn't put it down. The French fries received two thumbs up! And I ended with a maple Heath cliff milkshake which was a happy ending to our visit. Prices were a bit more than I'd imagine but serving sizes matched appropriately. Super quick lunch stop here while I was in Vermont. Nice and simple atmosphere, good food, and quick service made it an all around enjoyable meal. I'm a sucker for anything with mushrooms so I got the chipotle chicken sandwich. It was a good size and it was packed with flavor. It's a pretty cool concept in that it's almost like a fast food joint, but with higher quality fresh food. I believe they even have a drive-thru. Archie's is the best place around to grab a burger and fries. This is how I would envision an old-school burger joint to be. They source their food locally and cook to perfection. It's a great place to bring the kids, or just to stop by for a quick lunch when you are in the area. It's usually packed at lunchtime, so if you don't mind waiting until after 1:00 PM to eat, you won't have to wait. They also make their own homemade chips, which are fantastic. read more

The first reviewer got it right: there is no joy in Archie's. Here's the thing. The formula for success in a local burger joint is more than local beef, recipes and location. It's making your customers feel welcome. It's a simple smile. It's an apology for being forgetting someone for a full 15 minutes on the phone as they attempted to call in a takeout order. The burgers are good - not great, but a solid product. The sweet potato fries were pretty tasty, and my hubby's onion rings were quite good. But the service? What service? Our food sat in the pass and got cold for a full 10 minutes while I waited for one order to be taken for four people. Mine was a to-go order, but there was no expediting, and now attempt to move things along any faster. Will I be back? Given that Charlotte is a food desert and this is so close, probably. We certainly won't be running back, and we will not likely be chatting it up to our friends. Take a page out of the book of Folino's, treat your employees (and yourselves - I am nearly certain one of the owners was one of the unhappy four souls I encountered) well. Great little burger joint! Great when you want to indulge in fast food style but want it to be fresh incredibly grateful that they use local beef! Sure the wait has been a bit long these days but everyone is trying to figure out new practices with covid flipping back and forth. I'm pretty sure they're one of the best at adopting a new system. If you order online they tell you exactly when it will be ready and you can literally drive through to pick up your food! Also to the reviews about how no one in the restaurant smiles.. I've never noticed this but maybe that's because I don't expect people to be ON 24/7. Just because some one is publicly making your food does not require them to be happy go lucky just for you! What an over privileged attitude! Stopped by after visiting the Shelburne Museum as we didn't see anything else that we thought would be quick & different. Burger were good, maybe a little small & maybe a little slow considering there was only 2 others in the restaurant but it wasn't a big deal. I had the Vermont Bacon Cheese burger which was good, came with a good amount of fries as well. They also have "Archie's Chips" which have Parmesan on them I think? They're OK if you'd prefer them over fries. No waiter service, they just shout your name when your order is ready & you bus your own table (unless you're a slob like someone did when we were there.) read more

I was looking for something to pick up curbside and wow!! I got the cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese and chipotle sauce.. divine. The homemade chips on the side were delicious and a great bonus. I put them in my burger for that added crunch. A little weird to put cucumber on a burger but I won't penalize them I just took them off. Delicious burger and they were super mindful about the hand off. The worker at the pick up window had gloves and a mask on, I really appreciate that. It made me feel safe! Location is a bit out there for me to frequent regularly. A wide selection of burger choices are available. Side salad is made up of good ingredients. I've been eating here for years and it's such a fun spot but I haven't been impressed with the service or food the last few times I've been. It also took a very long time. I got the horseradish burger last time and it had so much horseradish it was unbearable. I got it again today hoping it was just a fluke the other time but again it was so thickly smeared I was tearing up. I scraped it off but it was still very spicy and my stomach was burning for a good 30 minutes afterwards. It took 40 minutes for 3 burgers when the restaurant was busy but not packed or overwhelmed at all. I glanced up at the order board and things looked pretty manageable, not too many orders. I would have expected things to be coming off the grill quicker. Having worked in food service before I understand there are many challenges but I think there are some things they need to work on. read more

Had lunch with colleagues and it was great! The restaurant was clean and the décor was nice. Staff were pleasant and friendly. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese. It was prepared beautifully, loaded with meat, cheese, onions & peppers. The fries were hot & crispy and the home-made pickle on the side was yummy. I was especially impressed at the use of local products in the establishment, Lunaroma hand soap in the bathroom. It's so refreshing to see that kind of community cooperation! I am sorry to have to post this. We went to this the location on our way to a outdoor venue in Shelburne. I was pleased with the design and atmosphere of the new location. That's where the 3 stars stopped. I now need to cover the most important thing SERVICE. I deducted 2 stars for that, and another for how rude the attendant that yelled my name out 2 feet in front of me. When I approached and clarified if the chowder was in the bag that was above my head before I removed from the counter and spilled hot soup on myself, he replied "Have you been smoking, or something" of course it is in there. When I asked if there are crackers in there he was even more indignant about its all in there! (Not a smile to be had) When I turned to collect a spoon as I figured I would be safe to grab one even if it was already "all in there" in order to enjoy my soup. As I left the establishment my daughter explained to me that she heard the man I just described was asking his co-worker if he had heard what that idiot just asked, "are the crackers in the bag?" "Why don't you look? And use your friggin hands." I sat at my outdoor venue and ate my food with out a napkin to be had, but enjoyed my meal and wanted to take a minute to share my experience. I will be back and ask for the owner to share my concern of him being successful with this type of poor service. Ohh, the food I enjoyed my well prepared meal and vanilla shake. ;) read more

WOW! First time at the new location. Love it! The Horseradish Burger absolutely eclipsed all my expectations. My friend visiting from out of town went bonkers over her Archie's in-house made Veggie Burger. She offered me a bite because sitting across from me her meal looked so good! The fact she was making constant yummy noises while chewing made me curious too. Well, It was very tasty indeed along with the homemade chips. Archie's is now one of my favs. Luckily I live just down the street. May have to modify my eating out budget to fit a monthly visit. read more
