Super excited to come. However it took forever for someone to come to our table. Once she came over and took our order for our wings, the wings took longer than forever to get to get our wings. So I jumped in here quick because it was close to the hotel. Bar was mostly empty; was greeted with a smile and had drinks within 2 minutes. I only stayed for 2 drinks before having to leave unexpectedly, but the vibe was good and I was sorry to go. The bar is clean and there are 2 seating areas - one in the bar area and one behind a wall. Bartenders were great and the waitresses were all hustling. Nothing horrible. That said we stopped by on a Saturday and were seated promptly. My biggest issue is that as a taphouse, how do you run out of 3 local brews from Burlington VT ? We finally found something decent. Our server was polite, but seemed overly distracted, not sure if she had too many tables or not. We saw our drink order at the bar and had to point her back at it to get them. The food was, sadly, hopelessly average. Not a lot of flavor. We were disappointed overall. Again, not worth the time and money spent. It's a great location, it's clean. We try to avoid the chain restaurants on vacation. Love trying the local places. This missed the mark. My husband and I ordered BLTs. I ordered one with avocado and he ordered just a regular BLT. When they came out, we both noticed there was no tomato on the sandwiches, an essential ingredient on a BLT sandwich. We told the bartender there was no tomato and he said oh yeah "I forgot to tell you we don't have tomato because right now they're really expensive to buy right now." What restaurant doesn't have tomato? Not to mention there's a grocery store about 2 miles down the road that they could go buy a box of tomatoes to get them through the night. I asked the bartender if you could take a little bit off the bill and he took two dollars off that was it. Ridiculous. We ended up going to the grocery store and buying tomato for the second half of our sandwich. So unimpressed by this restaurant. Get it together or you're going to lose customers fast. I also had to ask the bartender to pour me a full beer with no foam on top because in the past every time I've ordered a beer there there's about an inch worth of foam on top which is clearly not a 16 ounce glass of beer. 3 of us visited on a Friday for dinner at about 630. The service was not very good. It took a long time for a server to show up. She took our drinks orders but did not return for almost 15 minutes. One of our party only asked for water and that was never brought. Instead, it only arrived after we asked again when our food arrived. Two of us had the smash burgers and one ordered the fish and chips. The burgers were small, but tasty. Actually, this was the smallest pub burger I have had in many years. The fish and chips was not a traditional fresh fish fry, beer battered and crispy. Instead, it was obviously a frozen fish fillet. Also, the french fry portions were small. We went here because we liked the look of their vegetarian choices on their online menu - come to find out it is a limited menu on Sundays that doesn't include the dishes that drew us in. We were fine just rolling with it so we ordered cauliflower wings and got chicken wings. The waitress apologized and then brought out partially burnt cauliflower wings. My husband ordered a beet burger and got an Impossible burger on a burnt bun. My son ordered falafels on his salad and got three small falafel circles on top of his salad for a $7 charge. Local taphouse gem with decent pub fare. Shelburne tap house has a decent beer selection. Combined with a decent variety of good, the tsp house is a very good lunch spot. We stopped in after a visiting the Shelburne museum, good choice. We had the crazy fries starter. It was definitely a good choice, fries topped with bacon were delicious. My entree was the fat cow burger which was delicious! The food servings were huge. Expect to take food home! ! Our server was friendly and efficient providing exceptional service. The Shelburne Tap House is a throwback to the 1980s. Decor is "eclectic" -- signs, various sports equipment and neon. We have been here twice before, and the burgers and sweet potato fries are quite good; other options not so reliable. I had the taco salad with lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, black beans and corn. I also ordered the $5 chicken topping -- a BIG MISTAKE. The chicken was a steaming, flavorless pile of gray and brown strings. It looked like a gloopy mass of yarn and had a weird chewy texture. Very unappetizing. A good chicken taco salad should include grilled, seasoned chicken breast or slices, similar to fajita strips. For an extra charge of $5.00 I did expect chicken that LOOKED -- and tasted -- like chicken! According to our server what they use here is "pulled chicken." Maybe someone left it in the crockpot too long? Most restaurants serve taco salads with Southwest or Ranch dressing, PLUS salsa & sour cream. However, the Tap House serves their taco salad dry. The idea is that you will mix in the little condiment cups of salsa and sour cream. You can do this, but the salad will still be dry. I asked our server for some balsamic vinegar dressing, which greatly improved things. (I scraped off the chicken goop.) One bright spot of our visit was our server. She was wonderful -- professional, kind and attentive. So one star for her! It's good to have a neighbrohood restaurant that can be an inexpensive, no-frills gathering place. But the FOOD should be delicious! The Tap House does have some reliable offerings, like the fries and burgers mentioned above. My husband had their coconut shrimp tacos, which were crispy and sweet. He said the dish was interesting, but he would not order it again. (He usually gets fish and chips.) I truly don't like to be unfair to a place like this -- it serves as a gathering place for the community, affordable and unpretentious. I am a foodie and I am judgy. Last night my family and I ate here and our meals were in my TOP 3 of all time favorite food. The winner??? Poke Nachos. Went with my friend for dinner and a few drinks. Waitress made weird comments about my friends ID at the beginning of the meal and I should have known it wasn't going to be a good experience from then. The food was fine but the service atrocious. When my friend went to order another drink, the waitress told us she couldn't serve us another one because our table was reserved for another party and that we would have to leave so she was going to bring us our check. When I questioned the fact that they don't take reservations, her response was "we don't but we do for special people." She brought us our check and I let her know that she left a horrible taste in our mouth and as paying customers we deserved more respect than that. The waitress became defensive and started arguing. I am full blown Celiac. Went on Saturday night with two friends. I told the waitress my condition and I said that the kitchen usually cooks my wings in a separate pan, which she said they would do. The only other thing I ordered was a side salad. It was brought to the table with croutons in it and I explained that she would have to get me another one because I could not have them. She just looked at me funny, but took the salad. She brought it back, and I almost said something because it looked like the same salad but didn't. I was glutonized. Obviously, she just went back to the kitchen and took the croutons out. I was in the bathroom all day Sunday, and will be paying for this for many days. It doesn't just go away in a few hours. I went to the restaurant today and asked to talk to the manager, because I think it is important that a staff be trained as to what this disease can do to a person. After waiting for quite a few minutes the hostess came out and said the manager could not come out as she was too busy cooking. She said I could tell her and she would let the manager know. I told her the story and she was completely unfazed and did not really apologize or even ask for my name or phone number. Maybe I should have said on Saturday that I couldn't have any gluten instead of saying I was Celiac, but I honestly think anyone in the restaurant business should be well versed in either word. Once we were finally seated, we were greeted by our server, but she proved to be not the friendliest or most efficient I've ever had. We ordered a burger, nachos, and soft pretzels to share. The nachos were burnt and it was basically one big flavorless heap of tortilla chips; our server didn't ask about our nearly full plate when she collected it at the end of our meal (she didn't check in with us during the meal, and she wasn't visible to us to get her attention). The burger was ordered medium rare, and it was cooked close to well done. The soft pretzels and beer cheese were good - but that's hard to mess up. My boyfriend asked about bourbon selections, but the server never followed up with him about whether he wanted to order something. The beer on tap was good, but not much selection for a "taphouse." Overall, poor service and poor food; it was a disappointment, and we won't be returning. read more

We have been coming here for many years but skipped about 18 months during covid. The food is great. But tonight we were witness to their new menu changes and we could not stop raving. We had mussels in a unique broth with baguettes for an appetizer which were outstanding. Then they added a new steak filet that my husband had over mashed potatoes and I had lobster and short rib pieces over a delicious fettuccine alfredo. To say our meal was an outstanding would be an understatement. We could not stop raving about it. Everyone should check out their newest menu. You will not regret it at all. Was in town for work from CA. Stumbled across this place being close to our hotel. I loved it. It was so cozy on a cold evening. The service was all warm and hospitable. Server recommended fish and chips and they were some of the best I've had. My coworker enjoyed the beet burger. I wish I could've tried more from the menu. Great place! read more
