Loving the public art on the 101 Sculpture trail. I just happen to be driving through Geyserville…read moreand noticed the funky fun sculptures displayed throughout the town... in front of shopfronts, the elementary school, private homes, and open fields. After reading a plaque, I found out the art collection is part of the "101 Sculpture Trail". The trail is a collection of sculptures in public places along Highway 101 between Cloverdale and Geyserville. The sculptures change every 12 months. The art range from funky, whimsical, abstract, and classic. The sculptures are scattered throughout the towns. Plus there is a large open field outside of Geyersville that contains several sculptures. They keep the field relatively trimmed. If you have good closed toed walking shoes, take a walk through the field to get a close up hands on look. Just watch out for the prickly weeds and unlevel ground...keep in mind, it is a rural field so pay attention. Each sculpture has signage identifying the artist and name of the piece. One of my favorite pieces was Philip Lynch's "Shimmer" installation. It was a two panel multiple piece wind chime type installation. My other favorite piece looked like a miss mash of a robotic dog. That piece was in front of a private home. I viewed that from the sidewalk to respect the homeowners property and privacy. Plus thank you to the organization and all the sponsors that make this public art display possible. For more info, check out the website.
