We had Pental Quartz installed through a local company. It has been in less than a month and already we have 3 chips and 2 scratches in the product. It is a brand new kitchen remodel so we have been very gentle with everything since it was installed. We have not dropped or banged anything against the countertops since they were installed. No one else that we know that has installed quartz or granite products has had this issue. I would not recommend this product or company. It appears to be a sub-par product that does not provide the high standards or quality that generally come with a quartz product. read more

My wife and I are remodeling our kitchen, and part of the project includes selecting and ordering new countertops. Pental, Meta Marble and Oregon Tile and Marble were the three places recommended by our designer and our contractor, and we've visited them and several other tile, marble and granite places numerous times. We've just chosen our slabs, and ordered them from Pental. I didn't look at the reivews on Yelp until we reached this point, so I was surprised to see the negative reviews here. Our experience has been very good there, and similar at the other tile and granite places. To dispel some of the misinformation: 1. these places are open to the public. They do ask that you sign in, but that's a formality. We did it once (on our first visit) at each place, and then just went straight to the warehouse to browse the slabs from that day on, without signing in again. 2. These places are working warehouses, and they're concerned about the safety of their visitors. Granite slabs are extremely heavy. So they ask for your cooperation when approached by a fork lift, etc. Just common sense. 3. You do not need to be accompanied by a designer, or to dress for the occasion! We've always gone by ourselves, in jeans, etc. and never felt out of place, nor did someone treat us as anything other than a prospective customer that they were glad to have in their showroom or warehouse. That goes even for the guys operating the heavy equipment. 4. Pental has the largest warehouse, and their stones are easier to view in their entirity than the other places. Lighting is also better in their warehouse than in Meta's. But all have great selections, and are worth shopping. 5. One doesn't purchase granite or marble directly from any of these places these days. You have to choose a fabricator (someone who's going to cut the slabs to your specifications, based on your plans). In our case, we got the recommendations from our contractor and from our designer (yes, we're using a designer to help us select colors, get the right cabinet layout, etc. - No sense making a costly mistake we'll regret for years, on such a significant investment.) The fabricator buys the slabs, and adds in his or her charges for their cuts (which are significant). All you know is the final cost. So having several bids is helpful. Good luck with your project! The bigger it is, the higher the stakes. Don't be dismayed by the negative reveiws below. Shop around, and for sure, don't avoid Pental! If nothing else, their broader selection and best viewing situation will enable you to decide what you like and don't like. Then you can focus your search for those stones at the other places, and see how they compare. read more

If I could give them a negative rating I would. This place is awful. They carry nice looking tile; however they are horrible to do business with. You can find very similar tile a lot of other places. Don't waste your time here. We were looking for tile that wasn't made in China (due to heavy metals including lead being used in tile from China). We asked THREE different times with different people where their tile was made. The answer was always Italy. Our tile installer installed our tile, we saw an empty box stamped with Made in China. When asking Pental about this they first said we can try and get a refund then when it escalated they said too bad we are not refunding you. They took zero responsibility. We also asked if their tile contained lead and were told no. She said very occasionally there is tile that has lead in it and they put in a piece of paper with a warning. We tested the tile we had installed and it all had lead. One of the 3 types of tile was from Italy, one was a company from Canada who has the tile made in China, and the third was a company in Australia that makes tile in China. Very costly mistake buying tile from them. If the company had taken any responsibility it would have helped but they took none. read more

I visited Pental Surfaces in early September in order to select two Quartz slabs for a kitchen countertop, that were to be delivered to a local fabricator that I was working with. Upon arriving on a Saturday morning I was greeted by Ravi, who is one of the owners. I had decided on Onixaa Quartz and wanted to select the slabs myself as I was under the impression was that each slab is completely unique. Admittedly, I hadn't done enough homework and thought that there would be large differences between slabs. Ravi brought me into the main warehouse and instead of just going straight to the Quartz section he took the time to answer my many questions. He clearly explained the differences between Granite/Quartz and educated me on why people choose one over the other. We then dug in deeper into how Quartz is manufactured and what different collections are available from Pental. We then approached the section where the Onixaa Quartz slabs were stored. Honestly, the ones I saw all looked very similiar to me but he explained the differences in shade and how the Quartz can differ from one batch to the next. Inspecting a slab isn't easy - it required the help of Tony and Alevs (sp?), along with a forklift and lifting mechanism to maneuver it out of its cradle. Ravi even suggested that they could take the slab outside so I could see it under the light, but there was no need. The two slabs they recommended matched perfectly as they were (a) both from the same batch/mix (slab numbers were very close to each other) and (b) the shade number was the same. Since Quartz is a manmade material the differences from batch to batch aren't very noticeable to a novice like myself, but I did appreciate getting an explanation on why these two slabs will work well together as a single piece for a kitchen countertop. The slabs were immediately put on hold for the local fabricator I was working with. Ravi's enthusiasm for his work was very obvious and it's very evident that he is genuinely concerned that his customers chose the best product for them. It's not often you get handed an owner's business card with a direct telephone number on it - I believe that this shows that he's completely confident in the quality of his products and will do everything that he can to make his customers happy. Spent a full Saturday going to different Granite and Marble locations in Georgetown and were treated the best at Pental. The biggest difference was their willingness to pull out and compair various slabs. They did a great job of displaying them side by side in the day light versus the warehouse lighting. There advise on similar colored slabs was also very helpful and if we didn't like a certain look they quickly adjusted their suggestions. All-in-all an enjoyable experience. If you have time to visit three or four locations make sure you visit this one. read more

We arrived at Pental to view marble slabs which had been unloaded from a shipment the previous day. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and asked to wait while their staff located where the slabs had been put away. Once located, we were helped by Nick - he was very professional and helpful and allowed us to view several slabs to choose from. He also helped us to determine how to achieve the maximum yield from the slabs we chose - and patiently stood by as we took photos of the slabs we selected. Overall a great experience. We have been here a few times and we have always been pleased. Shannon was amazing and provided us with excellent customer service and expert advice. I was shocked to see the bad reviews on here because I am very picky and we have been to every Western WA granite/tile/marble dealer and we keep coming back here because of the excellent selection, comfortable showroom and great customer service. FYI because of the reviews we parked so they couldn't see our car and I went in once in a sweatshirt and jeans. We we treated just as well as when we parked our car in front and went in well dressed. I love their selection now we just have to find an installler we trust. read more

Just finished a major remodel of our kitchen. We made many trips to Pentel in Seattle and Fife. In both places the people were outstanding. In Fife the service people moved granite slabs outside for us and another customer so we could see it in true light. They offered to do this and were upbeat the whole time. On our last trip to Seattle we found the granite my wife had been searching for but the whole lot had been taken. Peter helped us and secured 2 slabs. My wife and I have visited Pental Granite and Marble several times having the pleasure to meet Peter walking around the warehouse on a Saturday morning. It was refreshing to meet someone who is obviously a very busy man, but had the time to show my wife and myself around the warehouse and explain the different grades of stone. As I stated earlier we have visited the store several times, and each time we have been greeted and helped in a professional manner by all of the staff. We visited again on 1/28/2013 and were helped by JR and Tino who were on their way to lunch, but stayed and helped us view slabs of granite. Great experience. I found the sales staff (Amy) to be very helpful and knowledgable. This is a working warehouse so the place may be a bit intimidating and even dangerous for casual mindless browsing. If you can't really pay attention you should not go in there. But, I thought it was fascinating, and the guys working the floor were very personable to me, and I was very aware of where they were going with the forklifts. The selection is mind boggling. If you have no idea what you want this might not be the best place to start... but if you know you will be rewarded. This is a wholesaler. They do not sell to the public. But, anyone can go in and select slabs of stone, put a 5 day hold on your selection (at no charge), and then go to a fabrication shop to arrange for the installation. Again, if you know what you want, have already made the selection, got the slabs on hold, you can get a better deal on the fabrication... or at least that worked for me. read more

Still in the midst of a home remodel, but feel compelled to write an "interim" review. We have been to the showroom once, which is large and laid out well. Was thinking about heading with a Jerusalem Stone and had a couple of follow-up questions and sent an e-mail before planning on heading back to the showroom. Within minutes I got an e-mail back from Peter Pental on New Years Day saying that they were closed on the the following day (Jan 2nd) so their employees could enjoy a long weekend on the New Years Holiday. I believe that any company that (a) values their employees and (b) values their customers enough to reply to a very mundane e-mail on New Years Day is a company worth my business. read more

I visited Pental to choose three slabs for my project. Don and Jason helped me in the warehouse, and they were friendly, professional, safe and patient. There were three possible places for the stone I'd chosen, and two were in the back portion of your warehouse. Don and Jason had to move several slabs to get at my choice in each of the first two spots, only to discover that once we got to it, the slab didn't meet my expectations. When I apologized for all the handling, one of them said "Don't apologize, this is what we're here for. This is what we do. You're going to look at this stone every day, and we want you to be happy with your choice. Take all the time that you need." I honestly cannot remember the last time someone spoke those words to me. I was so impressed; what an excellent crew you have! When we got to the third location, they took the time to set out three slabs where I could see them side by side, and they were perfect. Have gone here twice to pick out our granite, the place is amazing with a ton of slabs to choose from. It is quite overwhelming to say the least. The reason for my review was to recognize Jesse and Jr for their outstanding help in picking out the perfect slab. Without their help we might have left or picked out the wrong color. Jesse's expertise was very helpful, they even lined up three different slabs up for us with a smile just to help in the selection process. Very bad experience. I was provided with bad product. Pental refused to acknowledge it and did nothing. I met with the person who I was told was the owner. He was very rude and made no attempt to acknowledge the problem. I see no reason why anyone would want to engage in business with this establishment. read more

We have been looking for a couple of granite slabs for our new home's kitchen. We have literally been camping out at Pental over the last 3 weeks. We met both owners Peter and Ravi Pental during our visit and both of them as well as the rest of the staff have been very courteous in helping us make a decision. Mr. Ravi Pental also went the extra mile trying to help us chose the background tile and explained to us the nitty gritties involved in the cost of the granite. We visited a few other granite stores in the area including MSI and OTM, but Pental has the largest selection as well as the best looking granites for the same variety. When I came to write this review, I was actually surprised at the negative reviews because I did not have any such experience and I went there atleast a dozen times. I also noticed the reviews are about a year old, so that might explain it. Thanks Pental, you definitely helped make our kitchen better read more

We visited this big showroom and was very happy with the response and help we got from them. I met the owner Ravi there and he was very friendly and kind enough to show us all options. We revisited the showroom after a week with confusion about type and color of granite and as it was our first project and we were remodeling kitchen and bathroom both.But thanks to the staff and Ravi they were very patient and helped us out they even manage to bring all big slabs next to each other so we can compare. They are pretty busy but they never forget to ask us if we need water or coffee. Mr Ravi also suggested and gave us tips on which one granite/marble we should choose for longterm and keeping under our budget.We selected all our granite and few tiles and marbles for bathroom and the whole process was very smooth. I am shocked to read such horrid reviews of Pental. I went to just about every granite merchant in Georgetown and Pental was by far the best. They display their granite so that you can actually see it full on with great lighting. I thought it was amazing that in other stores we were expected to select such an expensive item while seeing the stone at an angle and in very poor lighting. And the staff was incredibly helpful and well informed. They gave me samples and made suggestions about how to go about picking an appropriate pattern for my kitchen. I thought they were terrific each an every time I went - and I went there a LOT of times, as I am a bit indecisive. The granite I chose was just smashing and not available anywhere else. We also bought porcelain flooring from them specifically because they are so helpful and have an outstanding selection. Plus, we could go out in to the showroom and match the tile to the granite. If you're looking for granite, go to all the other places first and then go to Pental. You'll see what I mean about the selection. As for those who found them not helpful at the outset, they may be waiting for you to approach them with questions. read more
