And that proved very much to be true in our case as well! We went through a ton of estimates with various contractors. Diego was not the most expensive but also not the cheapest. In a few words, he was very fair and honest with his assessment. And after all is said and done though, we are very happy that we decided to choose Diego to work with. There were many surprises throughout the process, but he was always calm, cool, and collected. When work wasn't done properly, he didn't complain and agreed to the rework as needed. He also took care of random smaller issues that popped up that weren't explicitly stated in our contract. His core crew was always polite, courteous, and respectful of our home. After every working day, they cleaned up after themselves to ensure that the rest of our house didn't look like a warzone. Months later, we've had a minor issue come up with a power outlet, and we can confirm Diego honors the warranty on his work - he sent someone to fix things right up!

When I sought estimates for this carpet replacement project on Yelp, Hardwood Plus was the first and fastest reply. Erik showed up on time and quickly gathered the information he needed while explaining some of the things that could go wrong, like leveling issues or finding something unexpected beneath the old carpet. He promptly provided a quote, and kept in touch via text message (a huge perk for phone call-averse people like me). When we visited the showroom to pick out the carpet and sheet vinyl pattern, it came as a relief that Erik was not interested in upselling - he'd present options, explain the pros and cons of each, and trusted us to make our own decisions. The first issue occurred on the installation day, when Erik messaged me to say the carpet had not arrived yet. He was apologetic and explained what had happened, but we would still have to wait another week for it to arrive. The second issue occurred after his team removed my old carpet: they found the tiles underneath contained asbestos and needed to be sealed, for an additional cost. This added another day to the sheet vinyl install, but this was a possibility he had mentioned early on. The team also accidentally broke my dryer vent, but Erik agreed to fix it with absolutely no fuss. Finally, there were a few little bubbles in the sheet vinyl I had to push out. But now that it's all done, I am absolutely over the moon with how great my new floor looks, and how delightfully plush the new carpet on the stairs and guest room is! Hardwood Plus is communicative, professional, friendly, honest, diligent, and timely. They do great work, take responsibility, and ensure your satisfaction. I can't recommend them enough.

In the end, Andy's was able to provide a 15% better price for the exact same product, pad, and installation options. Installation took two days, the installers were wonderful people. Family and I couldn't be happier. I'll certainly recommend Andy's to my friends.

We went to Andy's 5 Star Flooring in Bothell due to a recommendation from a friend after a failed…read moreattempt for a quote with one of the big box stores. Our job was replacing flooring on the top floor of a split level that included removing tile in the entry and kitchen. We knew our flooring under the carpet was subpar from the carpet install 24 years prior and we expressed this to the salesman from Andy's several times. He assured us they could fix it. The measure, product choices and quote all went smoothly and we had an install date set for 1 month out in October. We started moving furniture downstairs in preparation. The day before the product delivery the sales rep from Andy's told us that it had not arrived. We were given a new install date in November but when the date arrived, same story. Now our install date was early December. The Sales Rep from Andy's apologized and added free furniture move due to the delays so we left our 4 pieces of leather furniture upstairs. Again, no product and install was set for Monday after Christmas. The initial install attempts had been scheduled for a 4 day install but this one was only for 3 and during a holiday week. On day of install, crew didn't show up until after 10am and left about 5pm. The install crew was short one person and had forgotten the tool to remove tile. Someone delivered it several hours later. Removing the tile created tons of dust. None of our furniture, countertops or appliances were covered. The installer complained constantly about our floor level and that he didn't have enough time to do a good job although the crew were very seldom here for a full 8 hours. The 3rd day they left at 4pm as it was New Year's Eve. They had to come back New Year's Day to complete the install. Bottom line we are happy with the final product result. We don't know if the problems of material delivery were in fact the product company or Andy's incompetence. We will place the problems with install on Andy's as they did not give the installers adequate time to do a good job. Especially during a holiday week. We were left with a HUGE mess to clean up with tile dust thick on our furniture, walls, appliances, kitchen, etc. Our free furniture moving for compensation was not performed. We also had to have the installer come back later to clean up glue that was smeared on the new flooring. Although the Andy's rep was communicative and easy to reach, I would not recommend Andy's.

After some research I hired GroutFix to clean, seal, re-caulk & restore a master bath shower in my home in Sammamish, WA. The price was great and the scheduling was easy, but that's where the "good" ends. Louie and one other individual showed up and spent roughly three hours at my home providing the service. The results were less than satisfactory and completely contrary with the Company's own information related to Cleaning and Sealing. From the Company's web site: "Clean & Seal Grout and Tiles get dirty with time especially in showers. We can professionally Clean your grout and tiles, in your kitchen, bathroom, floors, and exteriors. Whether you have Ceramic Tile, Travertine, Porcelain Tile, Slate Tile, Glass Tile, we can make them look new again, then apply a sealer that will protect your tile and grout for up to five years." The part of the above statement that is of particular interest is the "we can make them look new again". My specific issue with the work performed was that many of the glass tiles in my shower SILL have some kind of film/buildup on them even after the restoration work was performed. When I pointed this out to Louie he stated that it was hard water stains. I said OK, but did you try to remove the hard water stains with an appropriate hard water stain remover based on your experience. The answer I got was "I didn't say I would remove stains from your glass tiles". Well, OK then...enough said. Based on my experience I would not hire Louie and his company to do any work in my home. This is the second time we have used GroutFix. Louie and his guys are professional, on time, and will look for ways to save you money. We had them come to our home in Issaquah and remove tile to fix a shower with a mysterious leak that was draining through our floor and out of the ceiling below. We had a plumber come first to investigate the leak and determined it was in the shower drain. When the GroutFix guys arrived, they quickly determined that the leak was actually originating from a separate part of the shower plumbing. They could have easily tore up the whole shower, but these guys have integrity and were interested in fixing the problem at the lowest possible cost to the client (us). After discovering the true source of the leak, both the plumbing cost and tile work were minimal. GroutFix probably saved me over $1000 in additional cost. On top of all that, the shower looks good as new. Will use them every time for grout and tile problems in the future. read more

I'm extremely pleased with the work Louie did from GroutFix. He arrived right on time and finished the job in exactly the amount of time he estimated on the phone. I had a full sized shower that needed to be completely regrouted and recaulked. In addition, the glass door had to come down and be reinstalled to complete the job. Everything looks brand new and all the old cracks and missing grout is gone. I am quite confident that the leaks we had before due to the deteriorating sealing are well fixed. In addition, when the job was done, Louie recommended checking the pipes behind the shower water knob, which he did free of charge. Groutfix regrouted our large slate deck as well as 2 slate patios and in the process replaced several of the 2'x2' slate tiles. Louie and his helper did a terrific job. The results of their work exceeded our expectations and Louie did a bit more tile replacement than was included in his written estimate but didn't charge for it although I was more than willing to pay for it. For me, when I noticed a small area of tile was missing grout, he came within a few days to fill the grout. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that their white grout can have a tendency to turn yellow over time. I also later learned that many professional tile installers refuse to use Laticrete white epoxy grout because of this issue. Because epoxy grout cures as hard as cement, the problem was extremely difficult to fix. To make matters worse, the contractor who originally installed it refused to fix the problem. I spoke with several professionals and was told that the only options were either to remove and replace all of the tile or use a grinder to remove the yellowed grout, which could chip and damage the marble. After doing extensive research, including using ChatGPT, Sir Grout was recommended as the best company for the job. There was only one person at Sir Grout who had both the experience to remove Laticrete epoxy grout and the willingness to take on such a challenging project. His name is David, and he is awesome. Not a single tile was damaged during the process, and he used a different manufacturer's white grout that will not turn yellow. Sir Grout also provides a one-year written guarantee on the grout work. In addition, the white tile itself had begun to show yellow staining, and Sir Grout was able to remove almost all of those stains as well. The scope of the project changed slightly (20% larger) after I accepted the bid and sent in my deposit. After that, numerous additional undisclosed fees kept creeping in: different grout, picking up the tile I purchased through him, shelves for niche - the stone for which I was told I needed to purchase myself and separate from the additional niche fee, dump fee which I told him I would handle, and that extending the tile higher in one section would cost 240% /sqft more than his original quote. The bigger overcharge was that he jacked up the sqft on the bill wildly - the final sqft of the tile put in was 110 but he billed for installing 160 and only used 130 sqft of tile. He claimed this was due to the additional "complexity" of the job but had already billed me extra for the minor additional labor involved and never explained what about the project justified 50% higher install charges. I raised this issue multiple times along the way but he repeatedly ignored them and I had already sent in my deposit/scheduled around him so couldn't cancel at that point. I've hired many contractors on various projects around my house, and a couple times encountered reasonable additional charges if the scope or complexity changes materially. But this has been the first time I've been hit with so many upcharges/overbilling/undisclosed fees vs. the original quote.
