I would never ever go to this business again. They are liars. I was sold custom insoles for $2000. I was given a hard sell and told these were an investment that would last six years. When after 3.5 years they started falling apart, they wouldn't even repair them (as they promised repeatedly they would) until trying to sell me another pair. LOTS of businesses make custom insoles. As I've learned later, others charge much much less. And their service is far more honest. Stay away from these people. They will say anything to make a buck. read more

I called to see about an appointment for a running shoe fitting and got in to see Matt (jr) on Friday morning. I was asked to bring in shoes I wear to get I sense of how I walk. This isn't your run off the mill shoe store with off the shelf insoles, everything is tailor made to your specifications. It was founded by by Francesco Arciuolo in 1921.They specialize in providing supportive footwear for the entire family. Went in looking for orthotics. Left paying in full $2500.00 for some shoes and four pairs of orthotics to be made. Was told 14 days to make the inserts and someone will call when ready. One month later, no call. I called in and spoke with Matt jr. He was sorry for the delay but they should be ready in a couple of days. Two days past no call, week , no call. I was done, I paid for the shoes I had taken when I went in and requested a full refund for all not received. They called a week later, apologizing and offered @ cost. A 50% discount, I felt bad. Considered it even though I had a podiatrist make me orthotics. Went online to see that Arciuolo's is Foostar maker of the orthotics. You can buy them online for $235 they charged me $495 each. They did me a favor by discounting to cost .? I don't think so. Buyer beware. I support all local business. Your business is why consumers don't trust small shops. I was referred by a customer. Melanie's earlier review is accurate and captures the experience. This is a custom orthotic shop so prepare for the pitch: "I can't believe no one caught this before!" The owner is arrogant, over steps expertise, and discredits any opposing opinion. If you'd prefer to defer to your doctor he will request their phone number to speak to them! I like to try to give my business to local shop owners. So when my son needed shoe inserts I went here. When we arrived there was no one else in the store and 3 staff talking. One lady said she'd be with us in a minute then got on the phone. Finally, we were waiting on and the said we needed an appointment. I mentioned that no one else was in the store and they said the they would see if they could get the foot person. About another 5 minutes later the podiatrist met with us. I love this shoe store! The service is phenomenal and something you don't see these days in most stores. I needed some shoes for my mom who is now in a nursing home, and the folks at Arciuolo's were awesome in finding her prior records for sizing and styles she had purchased before. The shoes they carry are the best and they make sure you leave there in style and comfort! I love supporting local these days and the folks at Arciuolo's make it easy! My mom now is all set up with shoes that fit her - even though we couldn't physically go to the nursing home. I also purchased sneakers for myself and given I was having trouble with my knees, they knew exactly what style I needed to help with the joint issues. I give them my highest recommendation. We are third generation Arciuolo's shoppers, I remember my mom taking me and my siblings to get our shoes when they were located on Naugatuck Avenue, I took my three children to that location too, now I take our grandson to the Milford Center location. Great personal assistance, they take the time to actually measure my grandsons feet, not so easy to do that with a 2 1/2 year old. I highly recommend them!! read more

We had a terrible experience here. Firstly, they only had ONE style of shoes for our one year old to try on in his size. If we wanted to try on different styles, they requested that we have them order AND pay for those shoes for him to try on. Wouldn't you think they'd want to stock their store properly? Also, while there, we overheard the employee who was fitting orthotics telling a customer that they shouldn't see a Podiatrist because they "are not real doctors." Very inappropriate. Strange store. Matt at Arciuolo's in Milford has been consistently wonderful. I wore my orthotics so much the top liner was coming off. He had his specialist repair it while I waited. Matt explains things and is so much more knowledgeable than the podiatrist I was going to in Bridgeport. I had orthotics made with him, but he never checked how I walked in them- my feet still pronated. I also had callouses and that doctor kept me coming back to scrape them off. Matt reviewed the way I walked, and with the Foot Star Orthotics, my callouses are gone and my feet are straight and do not turn in! This is well worth every dollar, you will feel the difference. I am in no way related to this establishment. I was with that other foot doctor for many years, and I can't believe what a difference this has made. I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner. I had the worst experience here. I was recovering from an Injury and needed orthotics and good support sneakers. They were very pushy and rude. They tried to Overcharge me. And , it took them 3 times to get my right pair of sneakers in. I will never go back again. I now go to Hawley Lane and they have amazing customer service skills and do not jip you at all! read more

Every time I've gone here for shoes they NEVER have the size's that I need and it turns into a waste of my time. The last time, they were pushy and to busy for me to ask a question. Way overpriced too- you can get the same shoes for less online at many many other stores. Wont ever be going back. read more
