The staff person told me after trying on a few pairs of shoes,that if the pair he was going to show me next didn't fit right, the doctor would have to cut my feet off. If this was supposed to be a joke it was not reassuring. I will not go there again read more

The last few weeks my feet were killing me, I'm on them for 10-12 hours a day, I'm constantly waking up and downstairs, I work in healthcare. I've tried that Dr. Scholl machine at Walmart which tells you which insole you should get. They worked for a while, went to sketchers by Walmart and got their arch fit shoes. I hated them. Returned them the next day. I went to the podiatrist who recommend me grabbing a better quality shoe such as Brooks, New Balance or Ascis. He told me to get the Superfeet green insole and also recommended me to this shoe store in Bethel. As soon as I left that office I drove right to this store. I was greeted by Leah, she was fantastic. She sat me down, asked what I do for work, what am I looking for in a shoe. She measured for my shoe size and got at least 3-4 pairs to try on. All brands the doctor recommended. She had me try on each pair and had me walk back and forth, making sure my posture was in proper form, and to ensure my balance in the shoes were good. Unfortunately they did not have the Superfeet Green insole in my size (popular item). Leah had recommended alternative brands of insole, which I did try but I wanted to stick with the doctor recommendation, she was extremely respectful of that, even agreed stick with the doctors recommendation. She did not try to push anything on me, so I ordered a pair on Amazon. I ended up buying two pairs of shoes from the store. Brooks and Ascis and I love them. Very comfortable. I was extremely pleased with my experience at this store. Without a doubt I will be returning in the future. read more

I needed a pair of blue socks for my daughter for field hockey that afternoon. Several of the local stores were out or didn't have her size. The Athlete's Source had the socks in her size and they were cheaper than the local stores. I will be using The Athlete's Source again. read more

I am a foot and ankle clinician and I refer my orthotic and brace patients to The Athlete's Source for a proper athletic shoe fitting. Athlete's Source fitters are well-equipped to recommend footwear that accommodates many common foot, ankle & leg injuries, as well as custom orthotic devices. They have a very good selection of athletic shoes that come in a wide variety of sizes, widths and shapes. These guys even measure your feet with a Brannock Device like they used to way back when. Athlete's Source is the place to go for a good fitting and great service. read more

We specialize in shoe fitting for all types of feet. We take care of local podiatrists patients on a daily basis. We are experts in the field of athletic and casual shoe fitting. Our new owners have 100 years of fitting experience and are thrilled to help you out with any of your needs.

History

Established in 2017.

Erik and Brian met working at the Athlete's Foot in the winter of 1989. Brian over the years has managed and owned athletic shoe stores and is currently owner of CloseoutKicks a leading internet shoe store. Erik has been managing the New Balance Store in Bethel for the last 10 years and was sad to see it close in Jan '17. Together they have joined with Jay and Chris, both of whom are currently working in the Athletic Industry. Jay is the owner of The Athlete's Source Stamford and Chris is a partner in CloseoutKicks and a master in baseball glove repairing and refurbishing with his company We String It.

Meet the Business Owner: Erik T.

Erik has 30 years of experience helping people with their foot needs. He is the former Manager of New Balance and the Managing Partner of The Athlete's Source Bethel.

I needed a player T-shirt because I was going to wear my actual game worn player jersey but I figured it was going to be really hot to wear the jersey so I wanted to get the T-shirt with the player name on the back just in case. Following an injury to my tendon, I have visited this store three times for special New Balance low motion shoes and orthotic inserts. The store had exactly the products my doctor recommended. The strength of the store was the expertise of the employees, especially Erik, who spent a significant amount of time with me to be sure that I had what I needed to help my injury. I am also grateful for their help with special orders and I look forward to ordering more shoes from them. It is difficult to be faced with an injury like this and to have to wear a special brace, but Erik's sensitivity and knowledge of shoes has helped make this problem a little easier for me. The staff is incredible with the Managing Partner Erik bringing over 30 years of fitting knowledge to his store. They carry the BEST over the counter orthotics as well Custom Molded Innersoles made in 10 minutes! They have all the New Balance shoes that any New Balance store would have plus Asics, Brooks, Stride Rite, Merrell, Under Armour and much more. They measure everyone's feet and analyze gait.
