Clean store and great service. I had used the car wash on the premises and it stopped after getting my car soaped. I went in with my receipt, and, without batting an eye, the employee went out with me and restarted the machine and had me go through the car wash again, and everything was fine. This place is my go to. Always cheap. When you purchase a car wash, you get 15 cents per gallon of gas back. All you have to do is take your receipt to the register and they give you the money in cash. Such a great deal. You end up saving a few bucks on a car wash! It's a drive thru car wash so no frills. There is a detailer right next to it though if you're looking for more. I wouldn't recommend the vacuums here though. I put all my coins in only to have the weakest vacuum ever. read more

I can't believe I'm reviewing a gas station. But, hey. We usually end up stopping here for gas, cold drinks or a quick and cheap car wash after spending a few hours at the Swap Meet next door. The gas prices are usually fair, the car wash does a decent job (though I'd be lying if I said it was spectacular...I mean, it's an automated car wash, after all), and the prices for ice cold beverages and snacks are reasonable. The thing I've been most impressed with is the customer service. It surprises me - every time - to be greeted and assisted by a friendly and helpful employee. I've been inside on several occasions, and have never been forced to deal with a rude or surly employee. (Haha, "surly". I love that word. "Zipper's surly!" But I digress...) This is quite possibly the worst gas station in San Diego. Sure- the prices are pretty good and it's a convenient location, but wow- the pumps are ALWAYS BROKEN here. Have had to switch to 2 different pumps to find one that would work the last 4 times. The most recent time, the pump got stuck authorizing my ATM card. Went inside, line of 10 people....forget that. Went back to the pump, and the transaction was cancelled. Went to another pump- same thing- transaction gets stuck. Then the attendant comes out to put a yellow tape around all the pumps "Oh, we are all out of gas." At 4pm on a Sunday??? Wtf. No apology. "If you don't like it, don't come here" attitude. Ok, fine....you've totally lost a customer. Add the constant stream of panhandlers and other sketchy people- this station should be avoided- it's just not worth the headache. read more

It's not my favorite Arco location, but it sure came in handy when I was returning a truck to Home Depot across the street and had to fill it up with gas before returning it. Actually, maybe I like this place more than I thought, because the girl working the register had a nametag that said "Anita Beer." Don't go to the car wash!!!! I paid TWICE for my "premium" wash because you have to wait until the car ahead of you completely exits. Yes there is a sign instructing you to do this. But everyone ahead of you also screws it up because all other car washes tell you to enter the code when you drive up. Finally inside, success..think you'll get what you paid for? Nope think again. "Premium" is supposed to include wheels and wax, neither of which I got. Oh and did I mention they only accept debit cards for gas, and charge a transaction fee? Why would anyone go here. read more

LARRY is wonderful. I came to this ARCO with a car wash code that I purchased from another ARCO in Irvine and tried to get a refund after more than 20 minutes of waiting. The man at the other ARCO told me I could use the car wash anywhere, even in San Diego. The first time I came in Larry listened to my story and gave me a complimentary car wash. I told him I would be back to purchase one because of his great service. I have been back twice in the last couple of months and go out of my way because of his positive attitude. Today I went in to get a car wash and Larry asked me how my weekend went. I told him it was terrible but that my week could only get better. He was so nice to me and complimented my smile. I will continue to go to this ARCO because Larry is so friendly. read more

DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC CAR WASH if you have a dark or new car!!!!!! I bought my car last week, no scratches (brand new). Drove it through the wash for the first time today. When I got home I looked at the car and not only was their left over soapy residue from the soap and poorly dried water, there were tiny scratch marks everywhere from the spinners that they have that beat the car. Granted these are very small almost spiderweb like scratches, they are everywhere!! I called them and he said "well if you were on the freeway the soap would've blown off by now" ... Yes, it did. And it left residue all over the car. Sounds petty as I can easily go re-wash this and solve the problem but I shouldn't have to re-wash my car after paying to have it washed. I also shouldn't have had to pay $6.00 to have my car scratched up. Of course they insist that the car wash cannot scratch a car, any person with half a brain can figure out that this is possible. I went home and googled this problem and it turns out that there are tons of people who this has happened to. It happens when the car wash is not properly maintained DAILY or cleaned. Many times these brushes (not sure if that's what they are) but the giant spinners pick up dirt and sand from other vehicles throughout the day and when they spin around on the next car.... Scratch scratch scratch, everywhere. These people are lying if they tell you they wash and maintain those things daily. read more

This is my usual station to fill up cause it's always cheapest around and easy access. The mini-market is standard, window squeegees at pumps always have water to wash windows, and the employees get through the lines of people effectively. There is a car wash, $6 and up, for drive through wash. There's also a detail area if you want to pay for vacuum, wipe down and detail work - I've only done the basic drive thru wash which gets the muck off. If there's a line for the car wash it can take 4-5 minutes per car to get through. read more

This AM/PM location has quite the set of balls. First, they do not accept credit cards. Second, they charge $.35 if you pay with a debit card. Third, they own the world's largest ATM machine conspicuously placed next to the pumps. Wanna pay with cash? Gotta go inside and wait in line? Don't have cash and want to use the worlds largest ATM machine? $4.00 transaction fee (plus whatever your bank charges). No thank you. About a block away is a Shell station. This location was so difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. They were very tricky and charged .35 to use a credit card. It was confusing for an out of town guest and we almost left it we hadn't spent so much time trying to get into the parking lot. read more

Messy, sloppy, dirty counters at 10pm after a Gulls game, and the same mess the next morning! (We stayed at a nearby hotel and came to this Arco twice.) Employees standing around talking when coffee pots were labeled 'empty', counters and floor filthy! The owner of this location should take a serious look. read more

Don't go here my credit card number was stolen on 12/4 and was used twice at a Lowes while I was at work. Luckily my bank caught it but one of the charges was approved so I'm fighting to get my money back. I will never go here again and I wouldn't be the last one surprised if someone that works at this location is stealing the numbers from customers a police report will be filed. read more

No squeegees to wash your windows with! Really slow when you go inside. I understand it's a gas station so my expectations are pretty low to start but when you don't even come close to meeting them. It may of been an off day or two the two times I've been there, but who knows. read more

Not that any Arco is good or AM PM because they charge you 35 cent fee to use a debit card but this one is especially not good. not very customer friendly I guess because of all the concert goers. I would look for some new employees. The guys here are rude and the attitude is as outdated as the 35 cent debit card fee. I'll try very hard not to walk in this store again read more

I don't want to rate this location less than 5 stars because of the outside atmosphere due to the location it is in...but the transients are plentiful and while most are very nice and clean..there are some that make myself and others very uncomfortable. But...the staff are all friendly and I like that they are very easy going and make me feel like a friend rather than just another customer. Too bad this place doesn't hold it down. Perhaps leading by example isn't implemented here. It's local but convenience isn't every thing. Last time I went I paid inside by $20 card and the pump stopped halfway through. Attendant had me move to a different pump and slide card again for a whole new transaction. I had pay the 35 cent per transaction fee again. He said he didn't know what to do otherwise. I have yet to check to see if the remaining balance returned to my account from the first transaction. read more

Worst customer service I have ever received in my life! Stopped in today to get gas. Went inside to pay and Larry was behind the cash register, I purchased $40 in gas no words or eye contact was exchanged. Left the store to go pump my gas and find my 83 yrs. old father who had been waiting in the car for me now doing the "pee pee dance". He uses a Walker and we slowly made our way back in the store. At this point he really had to use the restroom. I rushed ahead to scope out the bathroom situation and noticed you needed a coin to get inside. Larry was ringing up another customer and I very politely asked if I could get a token and explained it was an emergency. Larry didn't acknowledge me at all. I asked him once more and he still ignored me. Even the person he was helping looked at me and Larry in disbelief. My dad is now begging for a token still no response. I look over an notice Shawna who I later find out is the manager over by a glass soda/water case. I begged her and even told her I just purchased gas my father is about to pee his pants can she please give me a token. She looks at me rolls her eyes and tells me to get the token from Larry. I explain that he is not only not giving me the token, but he won't acknowledge me. She says he will give you a token. At this point I'm at their mercy, because we are not making it anywhere else. The man who was being waited on leaves the store shaking his head in disbelief at their treatment towards us. What I didn't know is that while I was begging shawna for the token. Larry has placed the token on the opposite side of the counter so when I went back to see if he would acknowledge me. He rudely said the token is on the counter, but didn't tell me where I finally found the token and ran to my dad who was completely humiliated and let him in the restroom. I calmly told Larry and Shawna that what they did was so mean and cold hearted. My dad emerged from the restroom and he had peed his pants. The whole ordeal took about ten minutes from the time we walked in to the time I finally was able to let my dad in. So needless to say I will never ever go here again. I urge every person to boycott this store due to our experience. I've never been treated this bad and if the owner reads this you need to fire them both! read more
