I think this is the first gas station we have ever reviewed- and it's nice to be able to say an old quote, "service with a smile" - which was true for this young man who seems to be everywhere at once! His name is "John" and today when asked if he could help with our gas card, he was "Johnny on the spot." Decent prices for Costco members. I believe they open at 0530; they have attendant around to help in case you need them. It's right behind McDonalds. I like that they have neon sign on top of the gas pump to let you know if the spot is free or occupied. Usually green for a free spot or red for being occupied. This Costco Gas is normally super packed. We happened to stop by here on a Tuesday night around 8p and it was very convenient. There were empty lanes and no lines longer than 1-3 cars. The premium gas here is $4.99 per 9/10 gallon, which is $.70 less per gallon than what I have been paying at other places around town. Membership definitely has its privileges! I highly recommend coming here on a weeknight vs the weekends or lunch times, less crowded and convenient. read more

COSCTO GAS, MISSION VALLEY! This costco gas is always super helpful, extremely easy to locate and go through. The people there are always nice if you need any help, the gas is cheap ranging from Regular $4.26. I'd highly recommend going through the week days and never on the weekends. Sundays are the worst for gas days where there's an intersection to get on the right furthest lane for gas, and there's two lanes to enter, making it super slow, and wasted time sitting in traffic. Other than that, the price is good, parking is easy if you go around Costco, and it's always clean, and easy to navigate through lines. read more

I'm here for AFFORDABLE GAS but the waiting time is crazy! I appreciate three pumps per row but you need to either go when they open 4:30-6am timeframe or when they close 7:30-10pm timeframe or else you will be waiting at the light. Also I got lost yesterday because Costco Gas is behind the McDonald's. Make sure to go up the ramp! If you have time go because $4.30 is the best deal in this economy period. read more

This is probably the worst Costco gasoline station from a traffic flow standpoint. The queue to get into the station backs up onto Friars Road, and it blocks a driveway for a McDonald's. I avoid this station. read more

We came to fill up at Costco as it is the cheapest in the area and best quality. The only gas we ever use is Costco and Chevron. The gas was $4.39 today, which is great compared to the other gas stations around us. I feel like Costco gas also last a while too. We were out running errands and we try to always fill up with gas at Costco. As always, there's always a line for gas! Every once in a while, I have been able to get in and out with no lines. From the street to the entrance, there's a large piece of road for the queue either to the gas station or into Costco directly. Traffic flow in one direction into the gas station - efficiency definitely checked off! However, the space itself comes off as rather small, and I can imagine that at peak hours getting in can be a hassle. Best gasoline prices in San Diego... I believe that in every city, Costco has the lowest gasoline prices. My initial plan was to fill up at the Carlsbad location - on my way to LA in the afternoon. During dinner with fellow Yelp Elites, Ryan and Emmett, they advised me to go before closing time, but after the main Costco store closes. Smart thinking! The line will be shorter at night! Why wait in a long line in the afternoon heat? These guys are akamai!!! We were having dinner near this particular location, so I drove over (after cruising Fashion Valley Mall). For example, I paid $4.55 at Fenton Parkway versus $4.29 in Chula Vista only 2 days apart. This particular Costco Gas has a terrible layout. If it is busy, you could be a part of the backup on Friars Road just to get in. Then once you do get to the pumps, there aren't very many pumps. Finally when you leave you're competing with regular Costco traffic and Lowes and Ikea. Anyways, best to come to this one off hours. read more

Coming from the 15 freeway it will be a left turn into the center and then you'll need to be in the right lane to turn right into the gas station. If you are coming from the opposite side on friars road you'll have a better chance at getting in faster as it's a right turn in. You need an active membership and a Visa credit card. They do not take other credit cards or cash. But you can use a debit card. They always have the lowest gas prices. The best time to visit is before the Costco warehouse opens. Don't forget the pump is long enough so that you can pump gas on either side of you car. read more

I have been a Costco member for years and now that we can buy gasoline at Costco is super exciting. Great price and it always lower price than the average going rate in the county. Don't get me wrong just because it is inexpensive it doesn't mean that the gas is of a lower quality. I drive a vehicle that takes me from point A to point B and I really don't require the "higher quality" gas. Oh they do sell diesel and higher octane gas just in case you need that. I do love that there are many pumps and have you seen the newest addition?... the pump indicator if the pump is empty or being used. As you know if you are behind a larger vehicle it is sometimes difficult to see it the pumps ahead of you are occupied... Green pump available and Red pump means occupied. Another cool thing about Costco gas stations are the hoses. You don't have to wait for the right or left hose specific pumps as the hoses are super long that it reach both sides of your vehicle. What else can I say but it's worth the wait even if there is a line. read more

Ummm, honestly all Costco need a revamping. People have no common descensy or courtesy anymore. The intersection is packed and I had a lot of driving the past few days and been meaning to hit up another gas station and knew there was a reason I always avoid this one. IT IS HORRIBLE! The price is higher, not sure if it is because of location or its the weekend but I feel like Costco pricing should be universal all around especially in San Diego County at least. That is the purpose of the member, to enjoy the savings regardless of which location I shop that pricing is standard. (I mean different states I get but we have quite a few in San Diego County they should be universal). While this location has 3 pumps per station, there is a handful of rows, but just not enough for the volume of this location as it is always busy. I literally waited for 5 light changes before I could barely make it out of the intersection and into the line I went. Very fearful I was wasting my reserve just waiting to get gas. So here's the deal: 1. Get the Costco Visa card. The cash back on gas is key. 2. Be sure not to block the intersection when trying to get in line. I see so many cars turning left into the line and getting stuck mid intersection! 3. Best time to go- Saturday morning. Typically zero line and bonus: while you're pumping gas, you get to smell the fresh muffins baking! 4. Go to the pumps farthest to the right. Yes, Costco Gas, one of the primary reasons I have a Costco membership. Expressed succinctly: it's top tier gasoline that's always significantly cheaper than competitors. It's true that this location can get busy with traffic overflowing into the road. But there's three pumps per column so things usually keep on moving (I don't recall ever having to wait more than 10 minutes). Plus, don't forget that the long hoses can pump gas to either side of your car, so look for the first available pump. Costco Gas is usually the most affordable option, and it's great to have a location close to home. The reason for the -1 star is the traffic. It's a bit of a cluster upon entering from all directions, and most times - it's packed. Pro Tip: Get gas during off peak hours. The associates managing the traffic are terrific - efficient and hard working. I love that they installed electric signs indicating which pumps are available. The gas lines are extra long so you can gas up your car from either side. There are trash cans to dump your rubbish as you tidy up your car while waiting for your gas to pump. I'm not sure about COVID-19 guidelines here... as I haven't really noticed any sanitizing between fills or even... periodically? That would be great if they started that. Disappointed!!! Once again I am very disappointed with Costco. Very disrespectful workers there. Customer service here is a 0 star if I could give it. I don't know what's going on, especially with this location. Me and my family been going here for at least 14 years. I had a situation I spoke to with someone there and they never got back to me like they said they would. And now I had an encounter with a women who worked at the gas station and she was very disrespectful.
