Stopped by ARCO Gas Station to try the $6 car wash honestly, good price. Machines worked fine and it was quick. Just a heads up though, there's no spot to dry your car and no vacuums or parking to clean it after. It's really just a fast in-and-out wash, nothing extra. For six bucks though, can't really complain. Over all experience 3 stars parking issue - dryers don't dry pro tip : the dryers don't really dry your car that well, so you might want to bring a microfiber towel and finish it somewhere else. Cashier here is really money hungry. Few months ago I asked how much is the orange, she said, $1.00. after I gathered all my stuff at the counter she try to charge me $3.00 for a single orange. I refused to buy it. 4/14/26 came in the late afternoon for a dollar coffee and two pastry for $3.00, total should be $4.00. she try to sell me the water bottle for $1.00 if you buy coffee. I told her I already have water bottles in the car. The total price comes out to six dollars and some change. She said I needed the app to get the coffee for a dollar, never heard of this before. I must've been to 50 different ampm arco gas station (including out of town) and never had anyone mention an "app". The new price comes out to $4.11. I said I owe you 11 pennies, she said when will you pay me, I said right now. I'm an honest person I will come back and pay you that's just how I am. After she saw I took some pics, she try to offer me the water bottle. She said the .11 cents is for the water bottles. Doesn't make sense, the total should've been $5 and some change but I did not give her permission to charge me for the water bottles. read more

Rarely do I post such a review, but in this case my experience merited the extremely poor rating. I stopped by this AM/PM because it was convenient and nearby where I was at the time. My goal was to pick up a couple of small, wrapped sandwiches to put in a cooler for lunch the next day. I was aware that ARCO fuel stations do not take credit cards at the pump. What I didn't realize was that the store inside only takes cash or debit as well. In this day and age, why would a large chain not accept credit cards? It's not like ARCO is a mom-and-pop setup in Chinatown. Are they trying to cook the books and under-report their income as a company? What made things worse was the fee they charged for the use of a debit card. I have never heard of such nonsense. Pretty much all merchants accept debit the same as cash. Why was a $0.35 surcharge levied!? If I swipe my debit card to buy groceries, then I don't get nickeled and dimed by that business. The attitude of the cashier was crappy too which didn't make this visit any better. If there was a prototype for an "inconvenience" store, then AM/PM embodied that with their customer unfriendly policies. Avoid at all cost and go patronize a 7-Eleven or anywhere else. read more

Was desperate for gas. Stopped here. Wished I kept on driving. Getting in was a hassle. Lines were backed up and it's off of a busy intersection with drivers with no patience. A little stressful. Didn't go inside. Just paid at the pump. They have Apple Pay. But they kept prompting me to buy a car wash. I pressed no several times but the buttons were stuck / slow response. Finally, got to pumping gas. Was a little higher than other Arco locations. Didn't see any thing to clean my windshield. Not the end of the world but would've been nice. The car wash is a bit hidden. Because there were a few cars poking out, you can tell that there's more behind the building than meets the eye and I imagine that just because the entrance looks clear, doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a few cars there and waiting read more

I normally love coming to this incredibly clean, organized, and conveniently located store. I guess Elza was having a bad day today. She gave me the wrong product and had a bad attitude when I asked her for the correct products that I was paying for. I'll keep it as my favorite nearby store but it was a bummer on this beautiful day. read more

AMPM pretty much sucks. Nickle and dime you with that .35 chare every time you swipe a card, and half the places advertise having restrooms, but then they don't let you use them after 10p or something. Just left the one on Rosecrans and Lytton here in San Diego, and after walking in because they advertised having restrooms, went to then to diacover they needed a key to enter, went to the attendant and had to wait for him to finish counting his cigarette boxes, just to be told that both bathrooms were closed after 10pm. Really? Go fuck yourselves. My time is too valuable for this BS. Mental note: No longer go to AMPMs. read more

It's hard to find a gas station around downtown with a drivethrough car wash. So I was glad this one, between point Loma and downtown, has one. They start at $6 for a soft touch express up to $12. There are two touch-free options for $8 and $10. Friendly cashier and they are currently raising money for JDRF, the kids' diabetes foundation, selling $1 little paper shooties that they stick on the store wall with your name. I got the $6 wash and it seemed to do the job and had clearly lit-up instructions as you sat in your car. read more

This Arco is convenient because it's located on the corner right across the street from Liberty Station. It's easy to get to if you're heading to the freeway and the price is pretty reasonable in comparison to other gas stations. It's also very clean and nice. My main issue is that the screen prompts you to buy a car wash but only gives you the option for the $10 ultimate car wash. They don't give you the option for any of the cheaper ones. I didn't want to have to deal with purchasing the car wash separately and having to pay another 35 cents in service fees so I just bought the $10 wash while filling up. But when it was time for my receipt to come out, it didn't. So I had to go inside and grab it. Once I went to get my car wash, I didn't realize there was a line of a few cars. The line is hidden behind the building so you don't know until you drive around. The car wash takes FOREVER!! I waited for two or three cars and it took almost 20 minutes. But there was no leaving because I was trapped in the lane. I'm surprised it takes so long. It's hard because you can't check to see if there is a line. You just have to take the chance and go. Not ideal. read more

This place has the worst most deceiving Car wash ever. It looks like it is empty and then when you turn into the car wash line it is a 40 minute wait! The way the car wash is set up blocks the view of the long and slow line. You get trapped there for 40 minutes with no way out. And the actual wash sucks. Not even worth it. The people here are super nice. There's an owner that drives a truck that always talks down to them. He doesn't seem as nice. Maybe it's because he seems to deal with criminals on a daily. There is constant rotating collogue of security shots in this place with people that I should "Call the police" if I see. Weird. Service: Who cares it's a gas station. I visit this location regularly, as it is close to my second job. I usually always visit around the same time and have never had any problems until tonight. I stopped in at 11:10-15 or so and only had cash, so I went inside to pay for my gas. There was no clerk in sight. I waited a few moments, and then called out "excuse me" for some help, as I was on my lunch break and pressed for time. After a few minutes of calling out and waiting, I poked my head around the counter to see if anyone was even back there. I spotted an employee and said "I'm sorry to bother you but I just need to pay for my gas real quick". She comes to the counter and says "you can't do that", I presume meaning poking my head around the corner to look for help. I replied and let her know I had been calling out for quite some time already. She said "I was already right there". So...why didn't you say anything?! No "coming!" Or "I'll be right with you!"?! Mind you, I really try to come correct in instances like this. I've worked retail for 10+ years, I still work two jobs myself. I know the struggle, and I never want to be "THAT customer". In the moment I was in a rush so I took off back to work but looking back on it now she really pissed me off. I'll be looking into contacting her manager tomorrow, no doubt. read more
