Bears Have Hearts playing a live show!

Great place to see live music! Intimate space, awesome bartenders. There was a cover charge but the money went back to the band.

Solid dive bar that focuses on live music. Any live music. Literally I think anyone could book time on the stage here, regardless of your skill level. Got a harmonica? Cmon in! You and a Kazoo? No problem! When you enter, you tell the bouncer which band you are there to see and pay your cover. Your band will get your cover charge. Pretty cool deal really. You can smoke in here. The air purifiers did OK the last night I was here and I was pleasantly surprised I didn't stink like smoke. Food is pretty limited to what they can put in the deep fryer, the fries were pretty good and it appeared the oil was recently changed. Parking is tough, as they have no lot. Use the Septa lot after hours. Bartender asked me when I came in if I used the lot, nice that he is looking out for you. They have 2 pool tables, chalk, and talc. The sticks weren't in the greatest shape, but the table was pretty level. The stage is small and there really isn't a lot of room for the band or the fans. Generally, when a band finishes, their fans go hang out with them leaving the stage area for the next band and their fans. Interesting crowd here, never know what you are going to get. Got a friend that plays music? Give the Nail a call and get them on stage!

This place is the poster child for dive bars. Check out the picture of the front. If you walk in wearing a collared shirt you are overdressed! Expect to have a beer or cheap simple drinks. Expect loud music. Expect a wide variety of bands on the weekends. You need to be in the right frame of mind to visit here. Remember in the movie Roadhouse the band was in a cage? This place doesn't have a cage yet but it would fit right in!

While a change in ownership occurred recently, the new team has wisely kept the "time capsule" vibe intact--think dark wood, dim lighting, and a total lack of pretension. The kitchen doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, and that's exactly why people love it. The Burgers: Often cited as some of the best in the area, these are classic, juicy bar burgers. They recently introduced a "smash burger" style that has been winning over even the most stubborn regulars. The Cheesesteaks: You won't find any touristy gimmicks here. These are authentic, local-style cheesesteaks--perfectly chopped meat, plenty of cheese, and served on a roll that actually holds up to the grease. This is a Philly sports bar to its core. The walls are adorned with years of sports memorabilia, and when the Eagles are playing, the atmosphere is electric. It's the neighborhood's unofficial living room for Sunday games. You'll find multi-generational fans shouting at the TVs, cold domestic drafts in hand, and a level of camaraderie that you only get in a place that's been around for 90+ years.

I went to a business meeting in the back of this bar because I was looking for a non-descript area to hang out. I was blown away by the quality of the bartending and food service. I ordered a whiskey sour and it was made to specification, including whipped egg whites. The old-fashioned included crushed quality cherries with the classic, full single cube of ice. Gabby, the bartender, may be one of the main lines' most hidden secrets!

I've been driving by this place for years and finally I stopped in just because it was there. This is a neighborhood dive bar that doesn't pretend to be anything but what it is. It's very dim and the bar itself seats about 20. THE GOOD- * Nice parking lot to the left and back of the building. Much better than street parking. * Vivacious and attentive bartender. * Cheap drinks. THE BAD- * Don't come here for craft beers. Beers here are mostly cheap domestics and meant to be guzzled. * And unbelievably foul mouthed crowd. I quickly tired of f**k and s**t from multiple patrons every other sentence. THE UGLY- * This is one of the few SMOKING bars remaining in PA! You can smell it from outside. I returned home, stripped and tossed everything in the wash. So what would it take to entice me to return? Victoria's Secret models as bartenders dressed like the commercials might do it but I'd need to think about it!

Place can be intimidating with all the animals in there having a good time and blasting music but the bartender Sean was very cool and made us feel welcomed. Bathrooms and facilities were very clean. Met a local named Bizarro Miyagi, he was like a god in that place. It was fun getting to know him. We still talk about how great that place is. Way better than Casey's. We decided to stop at The Grog Grill which I had only been to once before in the 23 years I've lived in the area. I recalled that at that time, the Grog burger had been named best of the Main Line so I tried it and thought it was definitely not the best burger. The service was excellent, the pub environment was pub-like, we were seated at a high top at the back of the restaurant and next to a door to to the outside which made it very cold! I wore my heavy coat the entire meal. Cobb salad - 3/5, I think it's hard to mess up a cobb salad, but this was just okay. Tons of bacon bits and not a lot of salad greens, almost like a deconstructed salad which is weird for pub food. Mushroom flat bread - 3/5, just okay What redeemed our lunch was that when we asked for the check, our lovely server told us that the older gentleman at the bar had taken care of it along with the checks for several other patrons that day. That's never happened to me before! I will need to pay it forward...just maybe not at The Grog Grill.
