It's $35 and assuming you take the time to soak it all in, it will take about an hour. Be patient and watch all the moving pieces and read the placards. When you get to the big room, take a seat or lay down and enjoy the beauty unfolding. And color your own art at the end. This is such an incredible way to experience Van Gogh's art and I highly recommend it.

In the late afternoon on Saturday, decided to purchase the basic ticket online for $49.90 and took myself on a solo date to The Tower Theater. The staff had some technical difficulties finding my ticket in their system when I arrived, but eventually they found it. Before you go into the experience, you can grab a drink, which I did. I went for the "The Van Gogh". It was a very light cocktail, and I wasn't expecting much from it. It was interesting to read some of Van Gogh's life and to see his paintings in a moving visual or in a 3D dimensional type of way. Afterwards, you can color one of his paintings with medium sized crayons and/or do the virtual reality (which I did not purchase). I think the price for the weekend was way too expensive for what was offered. The entire experience was decent. Also, was able to find nearby street parking and downloaded the needed app for meter parking.

I've never been disappointed with my food here, and you like pub fare you're sure to find something on the menu that will hit the spot. The brisket grilled cheese was phenomenal (though more meat than cheese) and their roast pork rivals anything you'll find in the city. They have a wide variety of options on tap too. Worth checking out.

I ordered the roast beef sandwich with fries...my friend ordered muscles and the ham sandwich special. The muscles arrived cold. Not warm, not tepid...just cold. They were sent back for a trip in the microwave which is a place that shellfish should never journey too...if you want them to remain tender. When I ordered, I asked about a few items and was assured that "people love the roast beef". Now I've had "French Dip" style roast beef before at other restaurants, and when done right...it's a memorable experience. Crusty toasted torpedo style roll brimming with thinly sliced hot beef...provolone cheese melted over the top and down the sides...served with a side of au jus dipping sauce, that you would want to slurp down a soup bowl full. But this...was not that! The sandwich arrived on a hamburger style bun...the meat was piled "adequately" in the center but sloped off considerably as it headed for the edge of the bun. There was no need to worry about meat falling out as I took a bite...as none of it protruded past the buns edge. The cheese was there...a single uninspired round slice covered the cold and somewhat soggy bottom of the bun... and wasn't melted...at all! I suspect that the kitchen assumed that the meat would melt the cheese...but the meat would have to be hot for that to happen. In this sandwich...the closer you got to the middle of the "meat mound"...the colder it got. And little did I know when asked if I wanted provolone on the sandwich...that it would be an additional charge. Now for my fries. They weren't hot...they weren't even warm...they were "ice cold"! I sent them back light heartedly joking that there must be a door open in the kitchen (it was a cold evening) and the server returned shortly with hot fresh ones...minus the pickles that were on my plate. This goes to show that fries can reach the table...hot. The hot ham and cheese sandwich "special", served on a pretzel bun, wasn't hot...and wasn't special. I saw no melted cheese...only thin dry slices of ham, stiff as roofing shingles, protruded from the roll. There was no mustard...no sauce...no "something special" to make the "special", special... just stiff little sad ham planks...wondering where they went wrong On both recent visits...the service has been "spotty". (I know that cell service in the pub isn't spotty, because on my first visit...both servers had their heads buried in their phones). It doesn't seem like there's a real system in place for insuring that the customers receive "attentive" service. To their credit...they did remove the muscles from the check without us asking...but I never got a feeling that the next party to walk through the door...would have a better experience. When you find a good local pub with great food...it's like going to eat at grandmas house. You know that you'll always leave feeling warm, wanted, and fed really well. And you'll be excited by the thought of a return visit. I'm still looking.

The Palombaro Club is one of two private social clubs in Ardmore. They are both on the same block of County Line Road, hence the name "Big Club" (the other club, the IACCA, is the "Little Club" because it's 1/3 the size). They have been here for a very long time, easily 40 years or more. The venue itself has an upper floor with a large hall, stage, long bar and catering kitchen. There's also a coat room and restrooms in the vestibule. The space with catering tables could hold 75 with a dance floor, 100 - 125 without a dance area. It is clean, well kept, not 'elegant' but also not 'tacky'. There are two flat screen TVs above the bar, for us we had them broadcast the playoff game which made folks happy. There is no smoking permitted in the large hall. The lower level is the social club with a larger bar, smaller tables, much more of a bar/club environment (people do smoke cigarettes down there, but you could not smell or hear anything from downstairs when on the upper floor). They sometimes will rent that out (Superbowl party, anyone?). This is a club run by the members, Charlie is the 'coordinator' for rentals, he is a sweet, straight-talking guy who works professionally as a glazer. He can be a bit hard to get and is not always at the club, but he is a seriously nice and accommodating man. They do not have a website or a club email, you call the club and ask for Charlie. He does return calls pretty quickly. Now the BEST part? Almost shamefully inexpensive. Your party dollar will go far with them. They supply a bartender and the alcohol (you can specify what options you want to offer, they run an open tab for you or you can cash bar). You supply the caterer, they do not have restrictions on who can be brought in, and you supply the entertainment (band, DJ, iPod). Plus, you're supporting a longstanding social club in the area. We had a wonderful event there and will definitely be back!

I'm going to check them out one day. I'm grateful I finally made "one day" happen. I received the weekly email reminder that The Larry Price Quintet was scheduled to perform. I read the bio and really liked that Larry Price had his students accompanying him. The Venue: Intimate and cozy with a fantastic sound system. The Cuisine: Asian fusion with healthy portions that are huge on flavor! What We Njoyed: Deep Fried Wonton Strips - w/sweet and spicy Asian dipping sauce. 5/5 Suyun's Famous Shrimp Fried Rice (mild and medium) the medium has jalapeño heat and it definitely has a little kick. 5/5 Jamey's Special Wild Caught Rock Shrimp Tempura w/garlic chili aioli, broccoli florets and jasmine rice. 5/5 Lemon Drop Martini and Mitchell & Mitchell Cabernet Sauvignon Everything was delicious and I'm not sure what they season their broccoli with but ummmm yummy! The Performance: Superb.... Standing ovation!! As Jamey mentioned when he introduced Larry Price, "He's been around the world more times than Santa Claus"! Mr. Price certainly has Santa Claus energy and magic on the saxophone. He has to be an extraordinary educator as well since the 4 young men that made up the whole of the quintet sounded as if they have been playing for decades. I wish all of them much success in their future endeavors! The Staff: We were greeted by Jamey when we walked in. The gentleman working the bar, the lovely waitress that single handedly worked the entire venue and the Chef's were all delightful and a major part of why I'll return. If you enjoy live music, great food, great people and a cozy lounge atmosphere, treat yourself to a show at Jamey's House of Music. It is an impressive, contemporary space with a very wide selection of art including wall and free-standing sculpture. When asked for prices the range was quite wide from $900 to $50,000 (yes, $50k). Given some of the pieces displayed and artists represented I imagine that range goes well beyond $50k as names like Picasso, Matisse, and Warhol come up on their website. The gallery has three locations and represents around 175 artists meaning that what you see in store is only a very small sampling of their actual collection. Though I always am looking for new pieces for my collection, today I went in to have a small print framed. Caitlin, one of their consultants, ably showed me an incredible selection of frames ranging from contemporary to hand-carved, hand-detailed wooden frames worthy of the Louvre and works of art in and of themselves. Having chosen to forgo a mat (not needed with this piece) and a fairly simple thin frame, the price caught me off guard: $216. While the financial part of my brain said "no!" the artistic side said "give it a try." I paid the fee and was told my print would be ready in about two weeks. Caitlin offered to have it delivered to me and installed which I may take them up on. Conclusions: Merritt is a great gallery and framing shop. The price lowers my rating to 4.5 stars (I'm a budget conscious art collector). The only issue I had was when Caitlin and I went upstairs to figure out my invoice she left my print exposed on a framing table. I didn't think much about it till I had left, but I wonder when/if someone went down and secured the print from damage. This lowers my ranking to 4 stars. Otherwise a good experience.
