I ordered the chicken arepa, but it honestly felt more like a chicken burrito and I'm not complaining! It was so delicious that I ended up finishing the whole thing. The owner was very nice and took the time to tell me about the menu and his Colombian background. I came on a quiet weekday, and if no one is at the counter, make sure to ring the bell next to the cash register. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the smoothies and some empanadas. Was craving something small and found out about arepas and had to try some. A little discouraging at first since no one was at the front. I found out you had to ring a small doorbell. A nice man helped us, I got some meat, chicharrones arepas, chicken empanadas and mango juice. Never had arepas but regardless it was tasty. Awesome food I got a stuffed chicken arepa and it tasted really good. Service was also nice and friendly and the ambiance was just the food court. The food court when I went was pretty neat and quiet which I appreciated. I went here after a work training to wait out traffic (which never died down???!) but I'm glad I went here. Decided to get arepas instead of eating at the movie theater. The person was there at the counter and was available to take our counter. It was funny to watch people not see that there is a bell to ring if there's no other at the counter to take their order. It only looked like 2 people were working there. This also means that it can take a while to get your food. We got 3 stuffed arepas and was told it would take 10-15 min...it was more like 20-25 minutes. We got the chicken arepa, meat arepa, and the arepa montañera. All arepas came with their own sauce. Three split between 2 people was enough food. The chicken arepas comes with mushrooms. The meat arepa comes with meat and pieces of chicharron. The arepa montañera has guacamole, beans, chorizo, and chicharron. Surprisingly the montañera one was our least favorite. Don't get me wrong it was very good and despite the photo, the guacamole was throughout the arepa and not just at the top. The other two just had more seasoning that we enjoyed more. read more

The food here is made fresh and very tasty. I tried 3 different Stuffed Arepas - Meat, Hawaiian, and Carnitas. I enjoyed all of them but I think the Hawaiian was my favorite. It had ham, cheese, and big chucks of sweet pineapples. I also had a Passion Fruit drink which went well with the food. Their Empanadas are good too which I had in the past. Arepa's was my introduction to Colombian food, and what an introduction it was! Even more surprising is that it's family-owned, inside of the Galleria food court that's home to chain eateries like Hot Dog on a Stick and Panda Express. The person who took my order (who I assume is the owner) was very kind and extremely helpful when it came to suggesting which items to try out. I ended up opting for the Montañera arepa and a beef (listed as just "meat") empanada. Total came out to about $11, which was very affordable given just how massive the portions were for the arepa. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready, but that's because I arrived right when they opened and it was cooked to order. Again, the Montañera arepa was ENORMOUS, stuffed to the brim with guac, chicharron, chorizo, and I believe plantains?? The arepa itself was delicious, toasty and crispy on the inside, soft and tender on the inside. Interestingly, I found the texture inside to resemble that of mashed potatoes, which was surprising, but I'm all for it! The beef empanada was also delicious: the beef was so juicy and tender and the crust was sturdy, yet not too thick and overwhelming. I was worried the meat would be dry, but it was far from it. However, the real star of the show was the ají salsa. It went so well with the arepa and empanada, its acidity and heat balancing the grease and heaviness of the dishes themselves. I would've happily taken home a whole jar of ají, if I could! Definitely don't sleep on Arepa's-- come check it out! read more

Actually, I was surprised how affordable the Patacon with shredded beef! That was really interesting option. If you prefer something different and affordable, then look no further in the food court of south bay galleria. I am now tempted to try the empanadas next. I gave them a 4 star because I really picture the place having it's own restaurant setting and not at this mall. I support them and it's not many people working the counter on weekdays but worth waiting for the order:) the shredded beef was not salty enough if you prefer low sodium. Most ppl probably like it more salty or with a bit more sauce, actually just has cheese on top and I don't think its American cheese or cheddar haha. It has consistency of cottage cheese. The plantain was crunchy and not as soggy as I thought so I was surprised. Definitely worth trying and tasting each options here even the arepas which I haven't. read more

The size of the jugo was pretty big for 4 dollars but I was a little disappointed on the size of the empanadas although they were 2 dollars each. When this place opened, I was excited cause the arepas at Cafe Boliva in Santa Monica are the BOMB and I thought this place would be my local place for arepas. But each time I've come here, no one is at the counter and I have to wait for a few minutes before anyone comes out. I've been here twice now. The first time, it took a while before anyone came out. I ordered the arepa and though it was a decent size, the flavors were just ok. The arepas texture was not great and pretty bland and the meat inside was ok--- not what I was expecting. Am i the only one who found this supbar and underwhelming especially reading all their raving reviews? We ordered the shrimp arepa, only to find out 5 minutes later they didn't shrimp in stock. They then offered to give me any other arepa but didn't offer to refund me as the shrimp arepa cost more. It made me feel bad to try and fight for that difference back since this seems like a small business owner but that rubbed me the wrong way and they didnt even try to make good with any other offers. Now on to the food, the arepa itself texture wise was grainy and flavor was blander than raw cornmeal. I struggled to enjoy either of the two i ordered. I also wish I never got the chicharrons because it was such awful quality. The only thing that I could stomach and put down was their empanadas. read more

Fui a comprar una arepa rellena, una oblea y una colombiana. Llego a la casa y la arepa era solo la mitad de la arepa y una masa con chicharrón. Espere más de media hora que disque se equivocaron con la orden, la oblea súper dura y les llamó q preguntar porque. First time trying this place out as well as it being my first time trying arepas lol. I came yesterday after work and purchased three arepas ( Meat Arepa, Carnitas Arepa, & Cheese Arepa ). They were all really delicious! I liked the Meat Arepa the best the flavor in the meat was so good! I would definitely buy it again. Though the cheese arepa wasn't what I expected but was still pretty good. For some reason I thought it would taste somewhat close to a pupusa but instead it was sweet I was so confused but like I said it was still pretty good. I'd probably consider it more as a dessert. Anyways the man who took my order was very nice and friendly. Also the food does seem to take quite a bit to come out so just be patient. (: The only thing I would "complain" about would be that they should give some type of spicy salsa to put on the arepas and they would've been chefs kiss! lol They do give you this pinkish sauce with it but it's not spicy at all it's actually a little sweet. Not really sure what type of sauces/salsas are eaten with these since it's my first time trying them but just a suggestion that spicy salsa would be soooo bomb with these! We ordered 2 empanadas de carne, 2 pan de Bono's ( cheese bread) and 2 smoothies passion fruit (maracuya) and guayaba. Everything is delicious, good flavor and fresh. The pan de Bono was super spongy and delicious. The empanada was loaded, did not hold back in the filling and the smell and taste was like 'home'. So happy right now. I'm Colombian so I'm picky about my Colombian food. This is located at the food court and it doesn't taste like fast food from a mall. I didn't try the arepas this time. I had empanadas, pandebono, and the yuca with chicharrón. The chicharrón was sooooo good 10/10. The yucca was a tad bland but the sauces it came with made it better 8/10.
