Getting black hair to the right color (not too brassy, red, orange, or blonde) is extremely difficult. I have walked out of various hair salons multiple times extremely upset, and had to come back for color corrections many times over the years. However, Hasna at Argan salon does AMAZING work every single time. I never have to worry about how my hair color comes out after finding her. She is experienced, kind, and really listens to what you want. She does baylayage so well and will get the color to exactly what you ask for. I know many people that go exclusively to her, and all of us get so many compliments on our hair. She really knows how to blend the color, and it looks very natural. I moved to New York a couple years ago, and tried to find someone there that does consistent work as well as Hasna, but to no avail. I make sure to book an appointment with her for my color whenever I am in town. The salon is also very beautiful. It's updated, clean, and modern. They are always playing good music and everyone is very respectful and nice. The prices are also extremely reasonable for hair treatment, at $180 for baylayage alone before tip (more with a trim). Came here because I had acquired a Groupon and it was burning a hole in my pocket. Turns out the Groupon doesn't work on weekends. Turns out I can't make it here during the week due to my work schedule. Turns out I was already annoyed before I even walked into the door. That being said, it's a small salon and I was treated quickly and they did exactly what I asked. Kind of. They never got around to the waxing I had scheduled, but I didn't have to pay for it since it never happened, so no big loss. Kind of a wham-bam-thank you, Ma'am type place. No thrills and no great expense is lavished upon you while here, but they do what you need them to do, and it's done quickly. We needed our bridle party's hair done on Sunday morning early. Argan Salon opened up just for us at 6am to get the bride, flower girl, maid of honor, brides maid and mothers of the bride and grooms hair done. They were totally amazing! They took the bride into a different room and worked on her while they got the rest of us done. On a side note, and not to reflect on this salon, they also had a freelance make up artist there to do our makeup. Never in my life have I had a worse customer service experience. I was literally lied to twice by this salon! I was going to purchase a groupon and called them to confirm pricing. It was $52 for a highlight, a cut and a conditioning treatment. I was charged an additional $40 for toner and low lights. They color was also a bit darker than I wanted because of the $25 toner. So I contacted the salon and they said to come back so they could fix it. So I returned to the salon. They charged my $35 for fixing it saying that my color was different that the picture I showed them. The owner also said very rude things about my 18 month old that I had to bring this time. She scolded her and threatened to charge me to a nail product that my daughter had touched. I am horrified and wish I could get the $75 back that was an over charge. read more

Seriously Mia is a magician! A couple months ago i got a keratin treatment in my hair which i just loved. My hair is in a weird lob stage so i figured to get some extensions, highlight my hair to match said extensions and get some layers in my hair to add some volume in it. Omg Mia was on the same page with me throughout what it was i wanted and executed it with so much patience and attention to detail. She was spot on with color matching and styling the clip in extensions in with my natural hair and cutting both into layers so they'd blend beautifully. I hate trying a new salon for a haircut, but I was visiting family in the area, and badly needed a trim. I made an appointment online at Argan based on previous reviews. I showed up about 5-10 minutes before my appointment in the event there was availability for an early start. That didn't happen, as I waited 15 minutes after my appointment time. No worries, an apology and offering of a beverage was made. Mia was the stylist my appointment was with and she was friendly, gracious, and did an awesome job on my cut. She works fast, but knows her craft and does take the time to ask questions and make sure you are happy before you leave the chair. I will definitely visit Mia again on future trips to the area. Best salon in town! My mom and I come here all the time. Whether it's to get my hair done or eyebrows threaded. They treat you so well and they do a great job! They are also honest with you, if they are not happy with their own work they will adjust to make it work. My only complaint is that they do not have eyebrow threading chairs and they make you sit on salon chairs and my neck will sometimes hurt, you can just ask to get moved to the spa room though. read more

Wow, what a way to run a business! I had purchased a groupon for this salon that included a single process color. When I arrived for my appointment, the colorist that I was scheduled with had to get the owner to figure out what color I wanted. I really don't understand why they would put a new client with an inexperienced associate. Then she told me that the groupon only included color for the roots, ie. a touch-up, but that was written no where on the groupon. I showed her the exact wording of the groupon purchased and she said that a single process color is in and of itself just a touch up of the roots. That is absolutely 100% incorrect. The words touch-up or roots only should have been accurately stated. As if all of this weren't bad enough, the extremely rude owner of this salon then looked at me at 8.5 months pregnant and said that they couldn't do color on me anyway. I asked why and she snickered, "because you are pregnant!". I have never been so humiliated and infuriated in my life. She said that they would need a note from my doctor indicating that it was ok to color my hair. Not to bleach it mind you, only to color it. I would run away from this salon. If you like your hair, then great, but if you don't like the quality of service they provide, then you are OUT OF LUCK. There is not an ounce of customer service coming from this owner. read more

I purchased a groupon for a partial, haircut and conditioning treatment. I give 2 stars because Fatima, who did my hair, was fabulous! She was lovely, personable and did a wonderful job cutting and coloring my hair. It looked great! Also, many of the other women in the salon were courteous and helpful. That being said, the owner's attitude and customer service was terrible!!! When I went to check out, she accepted my groupon, then proceeded to tell me I owed $50 more!!! I was like , excuse me?? By the way, her expression and demeanor was defensive and rude. I said I don't understand. She then tells me, the extra cost is for the additional color and toner that was put in my hair. I said , I had a partial done (same amount of foils whether it's one color or two) and didn't ask for toner. Nothing was communicated whatsoever to me as far as extra cost while my hair was being done. I told the owner that it was ridiculous that I was being charged all this extra money! She then has the nerve to say to me, I'm not making any money on your hair then...with a rude expression. And then tells me, she spent all that time on your hair !! And we're not making any money on it....somehow trying to guilt me for buying the groupon.? I couldn't believe it! The worst customer service ever and from the owner!! What an awful example for her employees.!! I said, I'm not paying 50 extra dollars when nothing was communicated to me as far as being charged extra until I went to pay. She goes, fine, do what you want then! I then went to get tip money for Fatima and left. Even though I liked my hair, nothing can make up for how I was treated by the owner. I went here and I'm not happy with my haircut at all. When they thinned out my hair they cut it my hair at the root all around my head so now I'm scared what it will look like when it grows out. My hair doesn't fall naturally it just looks bad. She didn't cut off the damage parts, she insisted that the damage was the natural texture of my hair. The lady who cut my hair didn't know how to cut long hair at all. The girl in front of me left with her highlights making her look old, they were still grey even though she wanted them blond. And her haircut looked choppy. I was nervous getting into the chair and now I'm going to regret it for years because she cut my hair at the root.
