I have been regular for past few years and had good service till my old stylist was there. Even with new stylist, when services were bad enough to give headaches, I never complained and tipped afterwards hoping stylist will be better next time.But today I experienced an extremely rude staff member who instead of letting me talk to one of the owners after multiple requests, cancelled all my standing hair appointments. When staff starts acting with owner's authority rudely insulting customers, that means customer is not valued anymore and they don't care of quality of service. Never ever going to this place. PLEASE consider going to another salon to get anything done. I have never been so disappointed in a company. My hair was completely over processed, by Regan, to a point where it was so damaged, it broke off and fell out. The owner, Mrs. Swan, refused to take any responsibility, compensate me for the damage or do anything to fix it. She also kept my $1000 extensions that I left there to get treated for my next appointment, obviously before I knew how damaged my hair was, and she refused to refund me for them or return them. I was told. by Mrs. Swan, to deal with her insurance company which was a complete joke. They took over a year to come to the decision that they couldn't prove it was done by Regan even though I had a video, pictures and witnesses. They did not once, have an actual conversation with me nor did they call my witnesses OR the salon, who was completely biased, that I had to visit afterward to get keratin treatments to try to minimize the damage. There are a lot of great salons in Alpharetta so please consider one of them before going to Davao! read more

So I'm a loyal kind of girl. I find someone and stick with them for years, but having recently relocated I was ready to start the search for a stylist all over again. Luckily, the first salon has me satisfied. I read reviews and decided to try Kerri. She was great and I love my cut. I tried to book online for my next appointment - a cut and color and must have accidentally booked Heather instead, but good news.... I love my color. They have an open chair policy and everyone assured me it was ok that I saw two people back to back. I was embarrassed, but now feel fortunate to know I could see either if I needed to get in for a touch up. read more

Davao Studio is a great hair salon. I found out about them via a Yelp search, and after checking out some of the pictures on both their Yelp and Instagram pages, I felt confident that they could get my hair the way I wanted it. My appointment was with Megan and she did a fantastic job giving me almost exactly what I showed her I wanted from pictures. She lifted my old, faded grown-in Ombre to a light ashy blonde and used Olaplex to keep the integrity of my hair. I highly recommend Megan for color and I recommend this salon, as they use great products, have a great staff, and a beautiful studio. I'm excited for my touch up appointment in June! read more

KERI Keri KERI Keri. She's the bomb. Give her a picture of the cut you want and it magically appears on your head. My mom, two sisters, and even my grandma are loyal regulars to Keri. The whole salon is great; we've been coming here since they opened a few years ago. Everyone is always so sweet and accommodating. They offer drinks when you walk in, give great head washes, and converse with us like we're part of the family. Prices are a little steep, but a lot of the stylists are Bumble and Bumble trained in NYC so they really know what they're doing. I came about a year ago to chop of my long hair (almost down to my butt) and get a super short pixie look and it turned out amazing. I did not get my hair done at Davao, but I did get a haircut by Janine, who is a stylist at Davao. Janine took part in the Bumble and Bumble University training in NY and gave me a razor bob cut. So first of all, she is now officially trained in the AMAZING Bumble and bumble techniques. Second, she gave me a fantastic razor bob cut! And third, she is just so sweet. So just as background, Bumble and bumble does a training program for stylists to learn their techniques in cutting hair. People can get free haircuts through this program (as I did). So Janine wasn't even being paid to cut my hair, but she still gave it 100%! What I especially loved about having her as a stylist is that she asked me about my hair, really listened to what I wanted (as long a bob as possible, relatively low maintenance), and was so sweet to me the entire time. She really cares about her customer and about giving you the best style possible. By the time she was done with me (which was faster than most stylists, by the way!), I had a fabulous haircut. All the BbU educators were complimenting her on a job well done, and I've gotten so much great feedback on my new hairstyle. If you are going to Davao, you should definitely go see Janine and get a haircut that allows her to utilize her newfound Bumble and bumble techniques! My stylist I saw for a couple of years did amazing color. After having my child in school, my days and times were limited, as I had to make sure I could make it to early pre-school pickup, and unfortunately my stylist's schedule was mostly open on the times I couldn't be there. But again, she did great color so I made it work. I ended up getting tape in extensions before a family members wedding. One owner or senior stylist, did a great job putting them in. When I went to have them taken out, the other owner did some of the removal, and had her assistant, who had never worked with tape in extensions, help. It was not a great experience, but no big deal. Then I went home and felt clumps of glue or adhesive residue from the tape in extensions still left in my hair. I called and asked the receptionist to ask if there was something I Could wash my hair with, or apply, to remove the adhesive. She said I needed to come back in, no apology, and generally rude (which I had experienced with this person on other occasions, but wasn't too bothered as it was a brief interaction, and she just seemed generally unhappy having to work a front desk salon gig at her stage in life). I said I would have to go pick up my child and would call back if I could get someone to watch my child and get back to the salon. My husband was able to take off work, to watch our child. Throughout this whole, full day, very unenjoyable experience (was only told it would take 30 minutes), I continued to be polite and apologize for continuing to need help. I was scared that if I left the adhesive my hair would end up being ripped out...I called back to tell the woman I spoke with that I would be able to come back. She was so rude, and just asked when I would be there and then literally hung up on me. I went in and she was beyond rude and wouldn't acknowledge me. I respect my elders, but when I'm spending full days, and thousands of dollars a year, I refuse to be treated like this. Although I loved my colorist, I refused to ever revisit Davao after this experience. I had been a customer for over 2 years. Almost in tears, I explained to one owner how uncomfortable the whole interaction with the front desk woman made me. Nothing was done. I now travel to salon off Lenox rd (almost an hour drive vs the 5 minute drive from my home to Davao), to get amazing color and to be treated respectfully. read more

If you don't feel like reading all of this just know that the following products may be used on your hair: Redken, Calura, and Fabuloso by Evo. And when your hair is washed, make sure the stylist washes the chemicals completely out to avoid long term skin irritation. Also, you will not get undivided attention from your stylist, because there will be multiple clients at the same time. I saw one of the main hair stylists a while back. It was my first visit and I had high expectations being a Bumble and Bumble salon. When I sat in the chair I realized I was one of several clients that the stylist was working on at the same time. She had a blonde assistant who was clearly being overworked. I wanted a color and a cut. The stylist had the assistant wash my hair first, which the assistant did a good job at. Then I went back to the chair and the stylist cut my hair. She had the assistant mix the colors, meanwhile the stylist is going back and forth to her multiple clients. I tried to accept it thinking that she's probably just that good that everyone is willing to pay a lot to get a good hair style. After the stylist dyed my hair I was asked to be seated in another area. I observed her assistant running back and forth, and appearing to be super tired at that point. When it was time for the assistant to wash my hair she forgot to put anything under my neck so my neck was touching the sink directly (unlike the first time she washed my hair). She rinsed and washed extremely fast and was really rough. My neck hit the sink when she was trying to towel dry my hair. The stylist came and looked at it, didn't think it needed toner and said it's fine, so I was asked to go back to the seat. At that point the assistant did the rest while the stylist worked on other clients. The assistant asked me to let her know if the blow dryer was too hot - I believe she wanted it as hot as possible to get me out the door. When she first started blowing drying my hair she actually burned my scalp - so obviously my reflex reaction along with my verbal cues informed her it was way too hot. The problem is, I left there pleased with my new hairstyle. Once I arrived home it was a different story. In the middle of the night I felt burning on the back of my head. I touched the skin and realized there was still some leftover dye on my scalp. I went and washed my hair immediately but damage was already done. The part of my scalp that got burned from the blow dryer was red and irritated, and the area at the back of my head near my neck was extremely irritated, burning and itching. I attempted to get ahold of the stylist. She finally called me a couple days later. I told her about everything that happened. She was apologetic. And that was that. But then as my skin got worse, I had to make an appointment with my doctor. I tried getting ahold of the stylist again, explained to the person who answered the phone I need a refund because this is going to take some medical treatment. The stylist never called back. It took nearly 2 months to completely clear up the irritated scalp (antibiotics, creams, and multiple doctors visits). My doctor advised me to get the name of the dye or dyes that were used so I could steer clear of them in the future. I emailed Davao and got odd responses. First they said it was Redken. Then I asked if all of the chemicals used were Redken (Because I got color and highlights). Then they answered that it was Organic color by Calura. I emailed again to ask if that included the highlights or if that was the color. I was informed the product was Fabuloso by Evo. I contacted again to see if both of these were Redken brand since they originally told me it was Redken. I did not receive a response. I emailed them again later that month to ask if 3 different companies were in fact used, and to ask exactly what were the specific colors. No answer. read more

I will not name the hair stylist, but, she is one of the more expensive women working at the Salon. Have been to her several times and each time I'm more disappointed than the last. She works with an assistant and the two of them color my hair and blow dry it in tandem with very little personal touch or caring. This last time, the assistant, who is in training, blew out my hair by herself while the stylist, worked on some one next to me. Also, the color came out completely wrong. I complained at the desk but, since each stylist seems to work independently I realized that nothing could be done except that I would never go back. I had recommended my daughter to the salon, and she also had a very bad experience there and she too would never return. read more

I was looking forward to my appointment. Long, stressful day at work and the thought of getting my hair done got me through it. However, after showing up on time, I was disappointed that after 25 minutes, I was still waiting. Not only that, several people arrived after me and I sat and watched how the receptionist asked them if they wanted anything to drink while they waited. Apparently, I was chop liver just sitting there. She even came up twice (once to say she will be right up and then to fill out a form), however, never asked me if I wanted a drink. I switched to Davao after my original hair dresser did a really crappy job moving me from highlights to ballayage. I went to another girl who did an ok job of trying to fix it, but she charged me an arm and a leg and I had to go back two times and was charged that same huge amount each time. The owner of Davao (Luz Swan) is a new friend and suggested I come to her. I am so glad I did! I have been three times now and every time is spot on! She really listened to what I wanted and the balayage is beautiful! I get compliments on how natural it is. And she charges me a very reasonable price every time. Ask for Tara to do your shampoo- she gives the best scalp massages! Tara also suggested I have this new "sealing treatment" (not sure what it's called but it bonds your hair back together) and it really worked! My hair is course and dry at the ends and it is seriously stronger (harder to snap). I didn't ask how much the treatment was, but my bill was totally reasonable. The atmosphere is fun and hip and they didn't give me a funny look when I asked for a glass of wine at my 2:00 appointment (no kids, where's the wine!). I really can't say enough great things about Davao. All product and service recommendations have been great and the owner really cares about your experience at her salon. read more

I wanted to love this place but, I feel wronged. I had an appointment on Jan. 25th for a full highlight, haircut, toner and style for $215. On March 10th my appointment was for a partial highlight, hair cut, style and toner for a total of $205. BUT I did not receive the hair cut. In my head I thought it was just a scheduling issue. No big deal - moving on because this isn't that big of an issue. The problem lies in the fact I was charged for the hair cut. Also, I found it crazy that the difference in price between the two appointments was only $10. I did find out the stylist has a $5 increase per service in the time being. Still, not the issue. The issue is I was charged for something I did not receive and was not caught by anyone. I had to call and get detailed receipts to find out why. When the issue was discovered, charged for a haircut I did not receive, a refund, or credit of $15 was offered. But, if I booked a hair cut, with style it would cost $49. Please note "style" is just blow drying my hair because it was not styled at all with flat iron or curling iron (the service name is misleading in my opinion, still not the issue). Apparently, I received the "style" with my partial highlights, which I was told cost $25; so the math does not add up. Not to mention the fact that I did not receive the style and haircut together was not my fault. Long story short: received $15 back but, would be expected to pay $49 if I just booked the service I already paid for at another time. If you want good stylist with customer service, maybe not your place. ABSOLUTLY GET A RECEIPT. Oh, and I was asked to come 45 mins early, so I could get out of there sooner - good gestured that backfired because when I arrived I had to stand in the lobby for close to 20 mins waiting for the stylist who did not have another client. Irritating because I had to leave work early for to make the new time. read more

I had an appointment with Jess to get hand-tied extensions. The experience and service were excellent from the moment I entered this hip salon. I'm a bit older, and sometimes we older ladies don't feel as if we fit in with the hip crowd. Jess and all the girls were so friendly and sweet! They make everyone feel like they are one of the crowd! The service was excellent and my hair? OH MY HAIR! It's the prettiest hair I've ever had! The color is just perfect for my skin tone and the extensions were cut to perfection! Just exactly what I wanted. Davao will now be my number one salon. No more salon hopping for me! read more

I have tried to like this place. I've been multiple times and have always left disappointed. Caramel highlights ended up brassy and red in some places. During another color session, I had all-over color in order to cover my gray. Once I got home I realized there was a ton of gray that somehow got missed. I got a haircut during another visit and it was completely uneven. I will say the salon was more than happy to fix each problem but im worried that some of the stylists may just be inexperienced. I ended up trying the Michelle Coultier salon across the street and they did an excellent job with the color and the cut. read more

I've been going to this salon on and off for about five years, but this last visit really did it for me. Waited almost half an hour for my stylist to get me from the waiting area without any explanation. I will say the receptionist was apologetic and went in the back to see what was taking so long. Anyway, the stylist took me get a shampoo and neglected to put a smock on me, which resulted in cold water running down my shirt. All this while she tried to sell me their latest no-frizz products. Not a good start. I then showed her a picture of what I wanted...chunky layers, a little bit of length cut off, and bangs trimmed so they aren't in my eyes. What did I get? More length off than I wanted, thinned out hair underneath the top layer that just makes my hair look limp and flat, and bangs that fall in the middle of my face. Oh, and there is so much product in my hair that it looks super greasy an hour later. Nevermind that we have family pictures tomorrow...these shots may not make the Christmas card this year. All for $65.00. And, I have tried numerous times to contact the salon to voice my concerns and every time I call, I am placed on hold for a long amount of time... read more

I started going to Davao about a year ago. Luz did a good job cutting my hair but a really poor job foiling my dark hair. My oldest son said it looked like someone took a paintball gun to my head. So, I left and went somewhere else. About a year later, I went back to Luz. I was in a bind and needed a haircut. She did good on the cut again and since I had cut all my dark hair off and was now blonde I figured she could foil it. I was wrong. She could not lift my hair and it was yellow. I was there for 3 1/2 hours. She charged me for "special cotton foils" around my hairline so as not to break my hair and then she did not lift it enough, so she charged me for a toner. I had booked a color correction appointment, but then got sick and had to cancel. By the time I felt better, I did not bother to re-book the color correction because I felt it had been two weeks and I just did not feel right about going in that far after my color. Meanwhile, my son goes in to see Megan. Megan is a junior stylist. She had cut my younger son's hair, foiled my older daughter's hair and cut my husband's hair. Needless to say, Luz had a LOT of business from our family. So, I saw no problem with my oldest son going in for a haircut with Megan. When he walked in the kitchen from getting his hair cut, he had a hat on. He was super upset. When he took his hat off - I had NEVER seen anything so uneven. It was two days before Thanksgiving. His head was literally shaved all the way up with a shaved part on one side and it was so uneven! It was the worst haircut I had ever seen. I called immediately. The receptionist put me on hold. She came back and said the owners were busy and she would call me back in 10 minutes. About 15/20 minutes later, she called back to say the owners were still busy but she had not forgotten about me. It was about 7:15pm. I told her we had family coming in the next day and I needed to have the owner- Luz try to even his hair up either tonight or first thing in the morning. The young girl assured me she would call me back in 20 minutes. Forty minutes later, my son and I decided to just drive up to Davao. He was beside himself. We walk in and the receptionist is just sitting at the counter. I think she was on her phone and the place was nearly empty. I told her who I was and asked her why she had not called me back. She blamed it on the owners. She went to get Luz. Luz comes to the front and I show her my son's hair. We expected her to be shocked and express how sorry she was that someone who worked for her could mess up a haircut on a 16-year-old boy that bad, offer to even it up, refund our money - something! Instead she was irritated with us. She said that her policy was to let the stylist fix it. She did not offer to refund our money until she sat him down and saw how incredibly uneven it was and how upset we both were. I told her we had already asked for the receptionist to refund our money when we got there but more importantly could she do something to even it up. She said, "no it just had to grow." Yes, goodness knows it needs to grow, but more importantly it needed to be even. She just sat there and said, "Well, what do you expect? Megan is a junior stylist." And yet you want me to take him back to her to "fix" this mess, I thought. My son and I just walked out. My 71-year-old mom, who owned a salon for 26 years, came over the next morning and evened it out. My son looks like he has joined the military, but at least it is even- despite the shaved part and slight whole in the back where she went into his scalp. Today, I get a letter from Davao. You might think it was an apology. I don't know - anything but what it said. It was to inform me that I needed to take my services elsewhere in the future due to the poor treatment the staff received. We had no intention of EVER going back to Davao. Honestly, the owners are crazy people. Please do yourself a favor and take your business to owners who do not treat people like this. This has been an awful experience and I would hate for anyone else to have to deal with the people at Davao. read more

So, I typically take my business to a barbershop. I was house sitting long term for a friend and couldn't get to my usual barber, so at the behest of my girlfriend, I made an appointment with Laura. She may not have given my neck a straight razor shave, but she took the time to talk to me about what I wanted done and executed it perfectly.
