Argent Solar is a top notch company to work with. I contacted them in late October 2020. Craig Bloom came out the same day for a quote. Not only were they the least expensive of the quotes we got (with same panels and inverters) they also were the only ones that were willing to commit to a completion date before the end of the year. They did not disappoint. Craig kept me in the loop as we were going through the process and by Dec 15th 2020 our system was turned on. The installers were fantastic and even fixed a small roof issue we had. The after sale support has been fantastic as well. I interviewed several companies before choosing Argent SOLAR. So far, I am satisfied with my selection. Today is five days after my installation. The install process was smooth once the permits and all were done. They answered questions and kept me informed of the progress with the city and electric company. The design of the installation looks pretty nice. The workmanship looks excellent. The clean-up was excellent. The application to monitor the production (pc or phone) of energy from the panels is pretty easy to follow and understand once you read or you're trained what it means. It's user-friendly with a bit of technical information. Now I'm waiting to see the first few bills. With the wait, the question of is it all worth it shows up periodically. Hopefully, I am on the right new electric plan that will benefit my family: the solar and electric hybrid electrical plan. (To be updated in a few months) read more

Here's how getting solar from Argent went: I chose Argent because my neighbor was pretty happy with them and he would get a kickback if I did. I didn't shop around for other solar companies, so maybe there are better options, maybe not. If you decide to get solar because of this review, message me - keep the kickback chain rolling! PROCESS: I got a quote for solar installation from and Argent rep in March of 2017 - came to the house, recommended a system and panels for our needs, and explained the process and financials. Once we decided to do it, Argent connected me with the loan company (Mosaic) and helped completed the applications and permits with APS online. The applications were incomplete at first, after 2 rounds of edits, they were approved in July. The system was installed over 2 days the last week of July, then APS came out to inspect it that same week. They found the crew hadn't installed the grounds, it took 2 weeks to get them back out to fix it, then APS inspected again, found the site diagram was missing, Argent brought it out the next week, then the system passed inspection, APS swapped out the 2-way meter, and turned the system on. I can use an app to check my daily/monthly production, accurate to a few hours and by the panel, all via wireless signal from the converter. POWER BILLING: The solar panels give us credits that can be applied to our bill. Overflow credits can be saved and applied throughout the year (i.e. in the summer), but the overflow credits reset every year. SYSTEM BILLING: Our loan is front loaded, so we have to give Argent the tax credits we get from installing solar (roughly $6k combined) by 2019, otherwise the monthly payments go up from $95 to about $140 a month (system was $20k total for us) SAVINGS: My power bill has gone down to between $30-$40 a month, before it was between $150 and $300 based on the season. Combined with the solar payment, about $130 a month. I estimate it will save me $600-$1000 a year, but most of the payments now go to paying off the system, which will add value to our home, and eventually we can pay it off and our bill will be very low and consistent each month. ARGENT: While the system is as promised, there were mistakes made in the applications and installation that unnecessarily delayed the timeline, and poor communication along the way. I felt like they didn't really care about the customer, my calls were always rushed, and I was told "Don't worry about it" too many times when I called because they had made mistakes. We shopped several companies for solar panels and came up with multiple quotes that varied by 10s of thousands of dollars. It was frustrating as we tried to sort out what was right and what was a sales gimmick. Trying to understand the differences in price some companies used terms like "it's the way we balance the system" "it's difficult for the consumer to understand" and several other sales pitches. We found none of it to be true and passed time and time again. We got in touch with Marty at Argent solar and were immediately impressed by how forthcoming he was. We asked questions we knew the answers to and he gave us the answer you would expect from a friend, not a sales guy. When the quote came in we had plenty to compare it to and we found Argent to be priced well below most of the competition, using as good or better quality rated panels. When other companies seemed to be adding the tax credits to their price, Argent was not. During the installation Diego and his team were prompt, professional and knowledgeable. At each step of the process they were on top of it, coming out the day after APS and city of Phoenix approved the install to power up the system. We purchased (vs leased) a fairly large 14.28kW system (51 x 280Watt panels) installed by Argent Solar in the summer of 2015. We shopped around a LOT, comparing purchase vs lease, installers, panel manufacturers and configuration options (normal string inverters vs the power optimizers). Argent was up front with us (our rep was Charlie, but he might be retired by now), well-priced and timely in everything they did. No problems getting it approved by APS & turned on. Our power production this last 3.5 years has been exactly as forecasted (clouds are the biggest variable, but that averages out over time). We've been very happy with Argent. While I know the up-front cost to own your system is scary or undoable for most, it is really the better option in the long run if you can swing it. If you do lease, make sure to read the fine print. For example, a lease installation by SolarCity would have saved $ up front, but the price we paid for electricity from the solar panels was automatically going to increase by 3.5% per year. That's insane! You go solar to get AWAY from price increases! 3.5%/year over the 20-year lease means you're paying almost DOUBLE by the end. In countries like Germany that have pushed solar & wind power very hard, the cost of electricity has dropped dramatically, and likely that will happen here, too, once we get enough adoption here down the road. You don't want to be paying a ton MORE down the road while everyone else is paying LESS. Neither will people potentially buying your house when you move. Most leases are a 20-year commitment, regardless of the owner. The wrong solar lease is a liability, not an asset. We ended up getting panels that had black metal edges instead of silver/aluminum, so the panels are black-on-black, which looks very sharp! I did a lot of research on panel manufacturers, to include calling a guy I know in CA that runs a solar install company and settled on SolarWorld panels. There are plenty of other great options (LG, Sunpower, Kyocera) but SolarWorld had the best cost at the time and we wanted to make sure to stay away from cheap Chinese makes for peace of mind. We also went with SolarEdge power optimizers & inverter rather than the more normal string inverters. It's a little more cost up front, but having a power optimizer at each solar panel means each panel will produce as much as it can. Despite being the exact same panel, the power rating is a minimum, as slight manufacturing differences can enable some panels to produce several % higher. (Looking at my current totals for the week, my best panel has produced 8.42kWh (kiloWatt hours) and my worst panel only 7.80kWh. That's almost an 8% difference between best & worst. The average difference is probably 3-4%.) For a normal string inverter setup, a bunch of panels are all connected to the same inverter and all panels are limited by the worst performer on the string, so you'd never get that extra production. If you have a shadow from a tree or something on your panels part of the day, then the panels in the shade are going to limit your production over all. Is it enough of a difference to make up for the extra cost? I don't know, probably. If you have a shade problem, though, I think it DEFINTELY would. Several of the SolarEdge power optimizers have gone bad during the last 3.5 years. I'm not sure if I got a bad lot or what. You have a graphic depiction of your system to monitor via a web page, though, so as soon as you see a "black hole" in your system, you just call your installer and they replace it free of charge. Those power optimizers come with a 20-year warranty, so SolarEdge ships a replacement part and pays the install charge. Argent Solar has been great for this, replacing the part within a couple days usually, as they have replacement parts on hand already. Anyway, I've been thrilled with our setup. When I first ran the numbers, the payback was going to take just short of 8 years (including the state & federal rebates). Then APS put through not one, but two, price increases of nearly 8% each, so that shortened my payback period closer to 7 years (due to the extra cost of electricity that I'm NOT paying). And when you think that the value of my house has surely increased (due to owning the system; not true for a leased system), there's a good chance the system has already completely paid for itself at just 3.5 years. Your numbers will be different, maybe better or worse, but probably an excellent investment if you're going to stay in your house for even just a few years. read more

The price was excellent, but the customer service is out of this world. We are working with Craig Bloom and this guy handles everything right away.
