FOOD: 5.0 | SERVICE: 4.0 | AMBIANCE: 4.0 *Review for their house roasted Turkey sandwich only!* ARGUELLO SUPER MARKET right outside of the North side of GGP is this well-stocked and nicely curated grocery store. Great place to sticking for an impromptu picnic! Their surprise culinary asset is the deli counter of salads and sandwiches. Their crowning glory is their HOUSE-ROASTED TURKEY SANDWICH! I come here as often as I can when in the neighborhood nearby. You walk into the market and the deli counter is to the left. Joining the line to order I'll look over what salads to pick up along with my sandwich order. My go-to FRESH ROASTED TURKEY sandwich order is on a Dutch Crunch or Sourdough roll, add Swiss, everything, NO MAYO. If I think I can finish the sandwich in one sitting I'll include the mayo. Everything on the sandwich is the ubiquitous lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, pickles, onions. Can also ask to add jalapeños or pepperoncinis. I SAVOR and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the sliced fresh roasted turkey so no additional peppers for me. Yes, I love Thanksgiving! Freshly made, and ready to go. There is small daily selection of soups at the end of the counter but I'll usually add a small one of the salads offered in the deli case and I'm good to go. There's a table or two outside to enjoy the sandwich or you can take it to the GGP for a quick picnic. I'm usually running errands so I'll take my sandwich to go and dig into it when I can. When in the neighborhood, remember Arguello Super Market for their FRESH ROASTED TURKEY SANDWICHES! See you there!

We are known definitely for our food like Cioppino, sourdough, Mission District style Burrito, Salt & Pepper Crab, garlic noodles ,pizza and also Dutch crunch sandwiches. We have lots of places where the world famous star of the show is the dish. We see lots of people on social media flexing and showing off and being performative with these world famous dishes. Some have become world famous celebrities and received accolades for making these famous flavored dishes. You can also get a piece of a world famous dish . At this place there is a World famous sandwich called the World Famous and you can get it at Arguello's Market. On a Spring stroll through the World Famous streets of San Francisco I landed at Arguello Market. Inside you will find plenty of food and drinks as it's a grocery store. You will find anything from wine and world famous brands of food. I had to try the World Famous sandwich. It had roasted turkey and the essentials such as lettuce , onions ,pickles, and cheese in SF .The sandwich was like eating a carved turkey which aren't Thanksgiving leftovers. It had generous cuts of roasted turkey and the flavor was savory and tasty. You can now get World Famous at Arguello Market. Some want to get World Famous for extra attention and has become really "normative " on social media and some are trying to give another point of view that's "alternative"while some I find very "informative" then there are so many others which are so "performative" I was planted in the soil born and raised and still live in the city and watched it "grow" to become World Famous IYKYK "if you know you know" in the now social media world famous words ,"Let's go", "San Francisco !"
i'm happy to see this spot still thriving. as a USF alum, i've walked and driven by this place countless times but probably only came in a few times during my time on campus. i don't remember if i ever had the sandwiches, so i decided to try it out. it definitely did not disappoint. i looove that the turkey isn't your normal sandwich meat but whole, thick slices of turkey. i wish it had a few more pickles and a smidge more mayo (will ask for more next time). you can never go wrong with the dutch crunch roll! my partner got the roast beef sando and it was also pretty yummy. there was no one in line, so we got our orders pretty quickly. i'll def be back to try more things!
Make the trip! This is my local last-second grocery spot and go to for the best lunch sandwiches and coffee in a pinch. They have great produce and a large selection of drinks to pair with your sandwich. It is really a special place and so convenient that it is next to the park. Everyone is super nice, and the vibes are awesome. Run!!
Great local market. The turkey sandwich with cranberry was delicious. Dutch crunch was very fresh. An awesome place if you are local in the area or even if you're heading into the presidio.
Came here for the turkey sandwiches with my friends and it was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The line was fairly standard I was perhaps 5th in line but service was slow on Saturday afternoon, it look at least 30 min to place an order. Definitely call ahead if you can. I was very hyped for the turkey sandwiches - esp seeing the turkeys spinning on the rotisserie. I ordered a hot sandwich with everything in it. I saw them put the sandwich in the toaster but it must've been only for a short short time bc when they handed all of us our sandwiches it was cold to the touch! I was surprised and asked (just to double check) if they've been toasted, in which they said yes. Thinking perhaps it was just the paper wrap keeping the heat in or something, I shrugged it off and we went outside to eat it - when we all opened the entire sandwich it was still cold....turkey was not very moist and size/quality just did not live up to expectations especially for the price. I'd recommend R Image in Mission or Lucinda's or Luccas
Me and my girlfriend love this spot we go here all the time and do their turkey sandwiches. They also have a soup bar which is always good to dip the sandwich in. Service here is super fast and reliable and they always accommodate you.
tldr neighborhood market serving up freshly made sandwiches with the classic fixings ordered a roast beef sandwich on a toasted dutch crunch at the counter, sandwich comes with the classic fixings but u can ask if u don't want something including the pickles. you can pay more to add cheese, avocado, among other things and order some sides like their various potato salads this was on a busy sunday so would suggest you can call and order ahead if you don't want to wait as i saw some people doing that. for about $14 not bad for a freshly made sandwich in sf. the market seem clean and staff were friendly. food 3.75/5 service 4/5 ambiance 4/5 value 4/5
Favorite market in the area - feels like a mini whole foods (just missing the hot bar). They have a good selection of kombucha brands and flavors, and also had several deli items and a coffee shop inside. The broccoli gorgonzola salad was delicious.
Really good quick deli sando no special sauce it was simple but very delicious. I went with hot pastrami the other options look really good.
THE BEST FRESH ROAST TURKEY SANDWICH! Arguello Market Deli does not mess around. The deli is located within the market where they have fresh turkeys slow roasting. The sandwich is absolutely excellent with everything on it, some cheese, and the white + red meat of the turkey. You can even add cranberry sauce, avocado, pepperoncini, or any other condiment you like. Service is quick and efficient. The market has a lot of amazing delicious finds. The whole place is just a great vibe, and conveniently located right across from Golden Gate Park! It's great to pick up a sandwich and walk over to enjoy it. Highly recommend.

Now, while there's obviously a lot more to Arguello Market than just their aforementioned sandwich, it seems like a good number of folks who come here do so just for their sandwiches. Not that I blame them - the first time I came here, I headed straight for the deli counter without looking at much of anything else. Which just so happened to include their menu board, as I already knew what I was going to get before I even set foot inside. However, as I waited for my order, I actually found their offerings interesting enough to come back to try something else. While they cover all of the basics you might be looking for, the range of their selections isn't super deep (limited cuts of meats, fewer varieties of brands, only your basic produce, etc.). What's more, their prices trend a bit high ($3 for a can of corn, for example) and parking isn't always the easiest. Given that, it's not so bad if you just need one thing and you're already here getting a sandwich or if you happen to live nearby. However, if you're looking to complete a longer shopping list, you just might be better off heading over to the likes of Lucky or Safeway. All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be perfect, but I'm rounding down for now. The sandwiches are probably closer to four based purely on taste, and you certainly won't regret what you're eating, but when factoring in the price, it's hard to ignore the fact that I can get more of something that tastes just as good elsewhere.

Ordered the famous fresh turkey Sando and the rotisserie chicken. The turkey one was a bit more moist. Chicken one was dry between layers. Definitely needs a special sauce, jalapeños or more pickles to make it more special for my taste. Service was average, not overly nice and quick. Store is very clean and great selection. I will come back for the groceries if I am in a pickle. read more

So after working in the city for around 20 years, I decided to finally give the spot known as having the "world famous turkey sandwhich" a shot. Things I noticed when I first when walking in was the staff members greeting me as I walked in. That's always nice. I went earlier in the morning around 10:30 so it wasn't busy at all. Store was pretty clean. Back of the store made me feel a little cramped up but nothing that was uncomfortable or worse than some other markets in the city. Ok this might just cause some chaos and I'm sorry but, I have to be very honest about the sandwhich. I ordered the world famous turkey on a wheat roll (yes I'm that kind of crazy). As far as topping I got the basic stuff lettuce, onion, mayo, mustard, and Jalapeños which I asked for. I found the turkey very dry and lacking the flavor of a perfectly cooked rotisserie turkey. The turkey it was cut off of was sitting on the counter not looking happy. The employees behind the counter were pretty friendly which was nice. The sandwhich was just under $14. The size did not impress me and honestly nothing about it really gave me that "WOW" factor. I'm not a huge believer in "first time impressions" and believe in second chances. That being said, I would LOVE to try the turkey fresh out of the rotisserie. With all the other amazing sandwhich shops around the city, I just can't get past the price for such a small sized sandwhich. read more

My bf and I came here to check out the self proclaimed "world's famous" slow roasted turkey sandwich. Unfortunately, it was so underwhelming, I forgot to take a picture of it. It was a cold sandwich with thick chunks of turkey and all the regular toppings (lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickles, etc.). Decently sized, but could probably go to other deli's for the same sandwich. Not sure if we just got a bad batch of turkey, but we thought the sandwich was a little dry, even with the mayo. The sandwich I did enjoy was their pastrami. It was a warm roasted sandwich with the same toppings (no tomatoes for me tho). The pastrami was flavorful and tender and all together we thought this was a better sandwich than the turkey. The workers were so nice, even if they were in a rush to get everyone's order ready in a timely manner. They answered any questions we had without sounding annoyed. While waiting for the sandwiches to be made, we walked around the grocery store. It's a fully stocked grocery store and perfect for locals to come by for a quick pick up without having to go out of the way to the big chains. There are a couple tables and chairs outside of the store where we ate our sandwiches. Luckily, it was a nice day in The City and we were able to enjoy the sun without being too cold. read more

Walking back from my doctors office and decided to walk on Arguello Street. Lucky me to decide to pick up a few things for tomorrow at Arguello Super Market. Loved the friendly people and the selection is good. I read other reviews and will go back for the Roast Turkey sandwich. They had everything I was looking for. Then when i was leaving I saw there is a coffee area. I drank an Americano, and wow was the best i ever had. No after bitter tastes. Thank you for such a great experience. read more

I recently read about Arguello Super Market in the local paper, so decided to try their world famous turkey sandwich. The turkey sandwich is alright and really nothing world famous about it. The attitude is a bit rough from the sandwich dude tho. Cut me off to let me know that he can only work on one sandwich at a time when I wanted to order two. I get it, but it's the way he said it that bothered me. Very condescending. So guess what?! I just ordered one (to share with my hb) which is just fine since it wasn't that great anyway. The cashier guy was nicer and joked with me a bit to lighten the mood, so an extra star for him. Probably won't be back anytime soon or if I'm back; won't get their sandwiches. read more

That turkey! What the heck?! Nothing processed here. This is the real deal. Slices of gorgeous turkey straight off the bird! Cooked perfectly and delicious on a soft white roll sammich. The sammiches are nicely portioned, not too big and not too small. I loved the soft white roll as my bread selection. They have lots of bread selections for your sammich. A few red onion slices with pickles and lettuce, mustard and mayo, all wrap up to create one of the best turkey sammiches you'll ever eat. It's like Thanksgiving! They have many other sammies, too. The Arguello Market folks have been in the sammich biz a long time and they sure know what they're doing to lure us hungry citizens in! Please give them a try if you're in the neighborhood. It's been over eight years since I learned about this place. A recent newspaper article (https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/Arguello-Market-world-famous-turkey-sandwich-in-SF-17060002.php) brought me back to confirm or reaffirm what the author described. Coming in on a pre-Christmas Wednesday morning, I parked at one of the green zone spaces (ten minutes) right in front of the market at around 9:30 am. I walked to the deli counter and waited as the gentleman was working in the back. A minute or so later, he saw me and took my order. My friend and I shared a turkey sandwich on sourdough, everything but mayo (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=uBZvx4kDl356Wn3wSVtFGA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); it was as I remember filling wise with the fresh roasted turkey is the star of the show. In fact, you'll see a couple being prepped as you wait (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=n9D7NCNVAaYluvWZkOwJBw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). A half sandwich was plenty, especially when, while waiting, I saw two salads in the cold case that had my name on them. I asked for a half pint each of the creole potato salad and macaroni salad (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JnqRcGtVUwrm0fmf5dt-PA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). The mac salad was your standard stuff with a not-to-heavy amount of mayo and pimentos being the dominant flavors. The creole potato is deceiving as it looks like an ordinary potato salad but, after my first bite, my lips and eyes perked up from the hint of spiciness. I traded bites of these two with bites of my sandwich for lunch. I finished the half sandwich but only had about a third of each of the salads in satisfying my hunger pangs. After getting my items, I went to the grocery cashier area and paid for my items. The cashier wore a t-shirt touting their famed sandwich and rightly so. I'm upping my rating here to four stars as I definitely enjoyed this more than I did the first time. Perhaps it was the bread (sourdough versus Dutch Crunch). Perhaps it was from holding the mayo. We were on a bike ride it was suggested we pick up a rotisserie chicken or turkey sandwich from Arguello. It was after 2pm On a holiday Sunday so they had already run out of rotisserie chicken and Dutch crunch bread so I opted For a roasted turkey sandwich-on a sourdough roll with pepper jack cheese. There was too much bread. I should have asked them to hallow out the bread. The turkey was good but it could have some pepper and maybe some salt. I guess I have to return to try the rotisserie chicken on a Dutch crunch. I also wish they had a garlic spread To make their sandwich more tasty. And my sandwich was not "hot" as indicated on the wrapping. read more
The little sandwiches here are not bad. There's a wide selection of beer and wine as well as groceries. We like Arguello Super Market because it is conveniently located on the bike route we take from the Richmond to Golden Gate Park. I had their roast beef sandwich on Dutch crunch with Swiss $13.45 and a 19oz IPA $3.25. They have outside tables to enjoy the food. This is cool for cyclists because we like to keep an eye on our bicycles. Indoor dining means locking the bicycles up. Staff is fast and friendly. read more

Summary: A well constructed sandwich in a quiet food mart. It overhypes the turkey, but still has some pieces worth buying on the menu. The sandwich was about $12 which is a lot for a sandwich in reality, but for the convenience and quality, you likely won't be disappointed. Good: I overall enjoyed the roast beef sandwich - very classic and clean construction. I really really loved the dijon mustard; tied the whole sandwich together. I think if they lean into more sauces, it would really be amazing (mayo, dijon) Bad: For as hyped as the turkey is, I was sorely disappointed by the bite I took of my friend's. I always fear that turkey ends up dry, and this sandwich confirmed my fears. I liked the overall texture of the Dutch Crunch, but it was just a tad too thick to be comfortable as a sandwich. Ugly: It cost like $1-2 for a slice of cheese on the sandwich :( read more

Oh Arguello. One of my favorite places in the city to get sandwiches. Their fresh roasted Turkey sandwich is honestly so delicious! I love getting it on a sourdough roll with pepper jack. Arguello + golden gate park = great day! read more
