Once you enter you're greeted with kind employees and great choices in food and beverages. The younger lady in the front is super rude. We came at 7 am when it was slow for my moms birthday breakfast. She was smacking the counter and motioning us to hurry up when we asked any questions such as "is that the Danish behind you" and "can I buy a water as well" After we ordered she tapped her foot in impatience and was extremely rude when my mom who is diabetic, asked if they have sugar free creamer. Later after we got our food and were hurrying to get out of there my poor mom went to go buy my sister a water and the lady rudely made a comment about my mom being slow. Reading the reviews I see the same lady mentioned a lot and unless she is the owner I don't see why she still works here. Mediocre coffee, food, and ambiance. I usually order shots of espresso over ice and have never had an issue with it, the barista prepping the drinks was extremely rude and condescendingly told me that I basically want an americano. I told her that I thought an americano had more water in it and she said that when hot espresso hits ice it turns into water. No shit sherlock. She was visibly agitated and it made me uncomfortable and I don't know why she had to escalate it like that. I like supporting local coffee shops and it was my first time there. I overheard the cashier tell her that she had made my bf's drink wrong and she was mad and threw it out. At that point I just didn't understand what made this woman so angry and I felt uncomfortable even taking the drinks after. It was very strange. My sister got the caprese sandwich and the bread was stale. This place is not it. You're better off getting your coffee elsewhere. read more

If you want baked goods in this town, this is the place to go. The pie looked like a Bon Appetit magazine cover. Ditto for the danish. And the giant chocolate cupcakes made my eyes widen. Old fashioned chocolate cupcake...super sized? Double your pleasure! Some of the freshest looking croissants I've ever seen, & I've been to Paris. They are also on the larger side... Remember what I said about the giant chocolate cupcakes meaning double your pleasure? Ditto for the croissants. I was further impressed w the coffee. My cafe au lait w almond milk was nice & strong. Exactly what I needed, or anyone needs, when you're doing the wine tasting thing. There's a full menu too; soup, salads, & sandwiches. So you can do a full lunch when you're picking up that pie. As far as seating goes, there almost isn't any. There's only one table that serves as seating for the entire joint. I'd say room for 8, max. If there's a free spot, jump on it. Nice that they have figured out a way to serve through the store front window during this crazy time of COVID-19. We stopped for lunch at another restaurant and decided to see what f they had any pies available for takeaway. They did and we were excited because of all the good reviews. We bought a full blackberry pie ($25) and off we went. Got home and opened the box to discover there was no top crust, just some leaves made from crust on top. So much pectin and so little flavor, so disappointed. The entire pie went in the trash, minus one bite. Will just consider it a donation to a small business that is trying to keep afloat during these crazy times. read more

COVID-19 Review I love Murphys and I think if this cafe would have had more of their baked goods available that we wanted (but didn't mid-morning on a Sunday) they'd get at least a 3 star. I only ended up getting a mocha latte and it wasn't very good at all. The coffee was pretty terrible and the chocolate didn't really mask it. I generally only drink coffee when I travel (which happened to be that day) and honestly wished I would have taken my chances at a gas station coffee bar. Also, the drink holder wrapped around the cup didn't insulate so holding the coffee was uncomfortably hot. The woman was very sweet who was taking the orders though she seemed a bit overwhelmed even though there was only one other person who placed an order. Hopefully we came at a bad time. As I love this town, I will give Aria a second chance next year when I'm in the area camping and hopefully COVID is a thing of the past and small places like this can go back to their prior staffing/offerings. The pastries were tasty. I particularly enjoyed the croissant filled with jam. We also got the bear claw and a few other items along with chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate cake but my family devoured those before I got a taste. I got a iced tuxedo mocha and husband got a iced regular mocha - both of those were disappointing. There was not depth to the coffee and was very bland. We got our drinks iced but the ice was just floating on top so the bottom of the drink was warm. Should've just gotten Starbucks. read more

My friends got up early, went over to Aria to surprise us with breakfast. They came back with 2 coffees for themselves (we had a pot going in our rental) and almond croissants for all. My friends reported that the coffee was tepid. None of us liked the croissants. They were heavy, doughy and stale. I don't recommend this place. read more

Great pastries and friendly people working here. We come to Murphy's often and stay at the Murphy's Historic Hotel, and this little shop is right across the street, so generally while the wife is sleeping I head over early in the morning and pick up some treats to take back to the room for breakfast. The cheese danish and plain croissants are our favorites, and what we really like is that while their pastries are sweet like they should be, they aren't overly sweet which allows you to enjoy some of the complex and buttery flavors. As to some of the negative reviews here, I swear some people come to Yelp just to complain or bitch about people not wearing masks. On the former, we've been coming to Aria for years and have never had a bad experience. I used to love this bakery, unfortunately they now serve overpriced "bricks" and call them "pastries." Recently, we purchased 4 different pastries for a small breakfast get together we were attending. We didn't look in the bag before we headed out, this was our mistake. We arrived and opened the bags to slice up the pastries. All in attendance were quite disappointed. Very small, very burnt, and very hard pastries filled each bag. We decided to slice off a piece of a blueberry bear claw, in an attempt to give this bakery the benefit of a doubt. It was dry and inedible. My husband decided to drive the 15 minutes back to the bakery to return the items as all in attendance agreed it would be best to let Aria know. Then this... The woman at the register proceeded to argue with my husband, and subsequently refused to refund him for the one bear claw which we had sliced off a small piece to sample in hopes it wouldn't taste as terrible as it looked. He graciously accepted, but now I am leaving my first (and hopefully only) one star review on yelp. Total bummer. Wouldn't recommend this bakery if you have access to literally ANYTHING else. read more

This is a tiny town so I was soooo happy to find an amazing pastry place. Truly a hidden gem. The outside looks like nothing crazy but as soon as you walk in and peek at their display you're hooked! They have a great balance between sweet and savory options. During our weekend in town we got to try their coffee, cinnamon roll (yum!), croissants, savory ricotta and spinach rolls as well as a ham and cheese! Absolutely love this place for the last 10 years coming in many times but today we walked in to order breakfast for a family while power was out and they were friendly to everyone but us. We watched others get kind service but gaylene was irritated the minute we walked in. We asked what they offer for breakfast and if we could order a large coffee container of which set her off. As a manager I would never allow the yelling and frustration to a paying customer as she did to us today. Will think twice before coming back here in the future- such a shame. Let me start by saying that I LOVE Aria. From the sandwiches to the gluten free baked goods. The food has always been amazing. I would say best sandwiches in town, fresh baked bread and different gluten free sweets. Very big drink menu. The one problem is some of the staff being under trained, uneducated, with an attitude. I see someone new working here almost every time I come in but they really don't know what's going on or what anything is that they are selling. I had to ask what a couple different things were and then she had to either look it up or ask someone and she started getting annoyed with me or herself and it showed in her attitude. We ended up not getting some of the baked goods because she was about to lose it. Train your staff!! And if it's too busy, hire more staff and get a great system down for success! read more

We have always loved Aria! It's been a stop every time we go to Murphy's. Excellent pastries (The almond croissant is to die for!), artisan breads, sandwiches and coffees. I found out a year ago I have a gluten allergy and thought Aria was no longer an option. I went by two weeks ago though and they have gluten free pastry options and gluten free foccacia bread! The choices are limited- so it's best to either get there early or call ahead to have them set aside something for you to pick up. The gf choices are delicious! The foccacia is amazing! A light pesto topping with parmesan cheese melted into the crust make it perfect! I would never have guessed it was gluten free. The best news is that I had nobad reactions after eating the pastry or foccacia. Aria is back on our "must stop" list! read more

MUST GO! 1) super friendly and accommodating baristas 2) delicious coffee shop food (muffins, scones, breads, etc.) 3) coffee was made well and quickly! I ended up getting a bagel with cream cheese, the scone of the day (blueberry), and 2 cookies (chocolate chip, and molasses). Everything was amazing, but the scone was the best! Tarts, pies, cookies, cream puffs, & eclairs are delicious! Tempting Treats of every kind that make that Wine taste superb, either before or after. I ate half-a-dozen during my strolls in Murphys, & each was better than the last! Most of us went out the door with bags to take home, or across the street to the wonderful Park. Unfortunately I've had the worst experience today. Granted we are in COVID times where Aria is the only bakery in town while tourists are going home, but I'm not sure if that excuses a 25 min wait for subpar iced coffee. I went to dive into my danish and found a long hair all the way through the crust! Needless to say the cashier's attitude towards customers have not been helpful during this stressful time. It makes me not want to shop local when I can get the same thing at Starbucks for $7- $10 less. I ordered the pesto/avocado/cream cheese/cucumber turkey sandwich and there was hardly ANY avocado and very little pesto/turkey with one slice of cucumber. The young lady at the front counter was very annoyed when I asked for the bread choices for my sandwich. Unfortunately I didn't notice my poor sandwich until I got home so I did call the business and they refunded me for 1/2 my sandwich, although I feel like I should've received a full refund on the sandwich. What a lovely little bakery in the heart of Murphys! All this review can speak to is the wonderful, friendly service and the deliciousness of some of the baked goods. My boyfriend and I stopped in while wine tasting throughout town. We both have a sweet tooth, so we stopped in when delicious looking cookies caught our eye. I ended up ordering a coconut macaroon and a chocolate chip cookie. The macaroon was delicious and melted in my mouth. I ordered two more to take home to my Dad - who LOVES macaroons. They were only $1.70! The chocolate chip cookie was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - loaded with gooey chocolate chips. It was hands down one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. For only $1.20 (I think). What an awesome little bakery - I would come back here in a heartbeat (next time I'm in Murphys). read more

Aria is a tiny spot off Main in quaint downtown Murphy's. It's more bakery than cafe and take out only. All the fresh baked aromas permeate to the front as soon as you step foot in here. I didn't get a chance to indulge in their sweet treats, but the turkey avocado pesto sandwich I had was scrumptious and absolutely satisfying. It was full on gourmet with chips and a tasty pickle. Since, Aria is so small inside with hardly any space, there could possibly be a bit of a wait on weekends when Murphy's is most popular. Aria's is worth a stop for a quick lunch to go. It was very busy when we popped in around 2 PM, but the staff were friendly and helpful despite how overloaded they seemed to be. I ordered a raspberry croissant and a carrot cake to go. They were decent - nothing to write home about, but hit the spot. They were both very sweet, and I've got a pretty intense sweet tooth, so be warned. My husband got a latte that he raved about.
