We ate here a couple of times recently -- one late Friday night and another time weekday lunch. Both times, the wait staff was very friendly, polite and smiling. It was very clean. They brought out 8 types of banchan -- my favorites were the bean sprouts and radish kimchi cubes. For the lunch we enjoyed the fried rice (called stir-fried rice on menu), the tender bulgogi, and samgyeotang. Location is around the corner from H Mart, next to the auto parts store. I've come here several times with my family for dinner. This is probably one of my favorite korean restaurants in the suburbs. It is conveniently located right around the corner from the mega-supermarket, H-Mart. I usually order their kalbi and soon doo boo combination meal. My two favorite korean dishes! My parents think that this restaurant measures up to their standards of korean food worth dining out for. Arirang is a little bit of a trek, but if you want authentic korean bbq without having to wait for hours for a table or smell horribly when you get out, this is the place for you. They have a pretty extensive menu of korean non-bbq dishes as well. If you're not Korean, they waiters will pretty much do most of the grilling for you. I highly recommend #1, the marinated beef. It has so much more flavor than the non-marinated options. Also, spreading their oil/salt slurry on anything off the grill really elevates the flavor. They only give a few ban chan and don't speak much English, but the waiters are really attentive and good at doling out the meat in the group. read more

The staff are sooo cute and friendly. Can't say too much about the food though. It is good, but not wow. The rice stir-fry seemed a bit bitter and burned, so we sent it back. I know, I know, you're not supposed to send back food, and my poor friend was a little embarassed, but there was something off about it. We ordered the tofu/bean soup instead. First, not sure why anyone would choose this place over H Mart's food court/ King spa ( if you happen to be headed there). Overpriced meats and terrible sea food pancake. The seafood pancake is supposed to be thin/ slightly crispy and not thick and doughy. Spicy tofu seafood soup was way off too. In addition, as people have mentioned, they ask if you've included tip as you're headed out the door. Don't bother with eating here, you'll just leave disappointed. read more

Amazing food! Their BBQ is delish as well as other dishes. Service is really good, all servers are super nice and i love how they try to get all the feedback as much as they can because they just opened with a new management. I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I only had a main dish and rice, so wanted to carry out side dishes that were left over and the waitress/manager said they cannot let customers to take out side dishes. (The only clue is because they reuse it. Why would they disallow to take out left over side dishes that customer paid if they would throw away?!) Usually come here with family but I can say that this recent experience was horrible. Don't get me wrong, food is great but service is down the drain. Basically it's a lot of waiting. We get our meat served but towards the end we finally get the rice and soup that it's supposed to come with. Great food, great price. The kimchi chigae is great for the Chicagoland area. The service is iffy, but if you want good food, this is the place. Order "Korean Style" which is: ORDER EVERYTHING AT ONCE FOR EVERYONE AT THE TABLE. Don't order appetizer and drinks first. Get it all. This may help with any "service problems". New management as of May, 2018! Ate here with my family, including my visiting Korean mother, and it was so good that we came back again five days later. The best was the yangnyum kalbi ($30), which was thick-cut, tender and delicious - the marinade wasn't too strong. We had around 7-8 banchan which rotated the second time we came. The kimchi is more fresh than sour, in case you have a preference - I loved it. We also had mul naengmyun, which I felt was very sweet but my wife liked. My favorite Korean BBQ place in all of Illinois! Every dish is served with amazing service and complex taste. The dinner menu is perfect for a special night out with family. The meat is the best part. The pork bellies in other Korean BBQ places might be hard to chew and be dry because they freeze the meat for long time use. But Arirang Restaurant's meat is very tender and juicy. If you are one of the people that do not like the aftertaste of grilled meat, then Arirang's kindness can save you. Arirang gives out free, traditional rice punch to customers to finish their meal with a sweet, but clean taste. Not only is the food great, but also the service. The servers are very nice and constantly ask if the customers need anything. Due to the friendliness and the smiles of the workers, it makes the whole party of customers happy as well. read more

Worst service the lady rushed us by packing our left over food without being finished. The beef ribs we got was not listed as Kobe beef and 2 pieces were brought out. When questioned about it the lady claimed it was Kobe beef when the waiter clearly stated that it was enough for 2 people. Do not waste your money you are better off eating inside HMart. My family and I went last night and ordered Kalbi and a Agu Jjim(a fish dish). Kalbi was unbearably rough, least tender I have had recently. In short, this restaurant OVERCHARGES, VERY POOR TASTE, POOR SERVICE(very slow), and more importantly the least friendly. I do not recommend this at all. This is the worst Korean restaurant I've been to!! I went there last Friday and split the check with a couple of my friends. My share of the check was $17.26, so I wrote down $18.50 as the final amount on the merchant's receipt as I was planning to pay $1.25 for the tip. However, when I checked my credit card statement a few days later, this restaurant charged me a total of $35.76!! For some weird reasons, they thought I am paying $18.50 in tip, even though my food only cost $17.50!! Come on guys, you are not a fabulous restaurant with awesome customer service, why would I pay you so much tip?! By the way, the food was bland and mediocre. I will never come back here, ever! The service in this place can be inconsistent. Sometimes when we go here, service will be stellar and other times, it is lackluster and rude at best. The food is the only reason why I gave it two stars instead of one, but at a KBBQ place shouldn't the customer get a say in how the food is made? The staff almost HOVERS around their guests and gets irritated when we try to move the food on the grill ourselves. The rice and the steamed egg get cooked to the point of burning because of the hot plates that they use, and by the end of the meal, the majority of the egg and rice have stuck to the hot metal. To top it off, I felt like I was ignored several occasions when I tried to call the servers' attention. Last time we came here, the tip was automatically connected to the bill, and now that it has changed (tip is separate from bill now), it seems like the servers are begging for a tip. I would have given a tip willingly, but as a food industry worker as well, I feel like it is tactless to have to ASK for a tip. read more

Either this restaurant has changed owners, or we were there on a good night. We arrived with no reservations and a group of 14 and were seated promptly and given GREAT service. We has 3 different families and a confusing order, our server answered all of our questions patiently and made sure everyone was taken care of. They made sure that someone was helping cook at the table with the kids. We were cheerfully given refills on any side dishes that we needed. When our friend asked about the salad dressing, the server said it was the cook's secret recipe but she brought a to go container full of it for my friend's daughter. We all thought the food was great. The kalbi was tender and the marinade was perfect. One of our party said the the spicy pork bulgogi was the best he's ever had. The side dishes were a little slim, but the miso soup and salads were a nice addition. Also everone at he table got rice, even though not every person ordered an entree. Lots of restaurants charge up to $2 for extra rice. The only thing that kept this review to 4 stars was that there was no menu option for bulgogi grilled at the table unless you ordered the bulgogi "soup" for 2. what's with the hate on this place? here are the facts: - we were seated pretty quickly- walked in w/no reservations, sat night and took them about 15mins. - service. a smile and friendly chatter- impossible?. not here. after having food just flat out thrown at me (like food spilling out of the dish thrown, not in a figurative sense) or just flat out being ignored when asking for something at both of the more commonly visited korean restaurants in the city (cho sun ok, san soo gab san), i was shocked. that alone is worth going back for. - the food itself was very good. galbi was high quality meat (and i love the fact that they leave you with scissors and tongs to cut it/cook it the way you like. every other place treats meat scissors like they are encrusted with diamonds- what's with that?). and here's the magic in how i judge korean restaurants- their soy bean paste soup. rich, spicy, well cooked. now only if their cold noodles were any good, this place would be complete. yeah it's a bit of hike from the city but hey, there's free easy parking in the burbs. stop supporting bad service at korean restuarants- give arirang a shot. read more
