Their pool opening service included: -Taking off the cover - installing the ladder - starting the pump - added shock because pool was very dirty *they did not/do not vacuum or come back to add remains chemicals. It took two days for a response to find out that they are not coming back out and if I want vacuum and additional chemicals I'll need to make an appointment and pay more. Ridiculous. Do your self a favor call Island Pools. They are coming out asap to get us up and running properly.

I didn't know anything about pools and wasn't living in the house and so was relying on their services. But this company proved to be unreliable, unresponsive, and low quality in terms of service and manager team. There's too much to say so I'll try to summarize - 1) will almost never call you back. left 5-6 messages for the valet service, and only called back once over the 6 weeks or so. same for the general line, and no one ever called back from there. the only way i managed to get through to anyone was calling repeatedly. Maybe once Tristan (?) called back with more info like he said he was going to. Generally unresponsive. 2) valet team unable to recognize that pool is no longer clear and should probably be shocked. i told the teams over and over again that i am new to pools and need their help and tried to learn from them what i could. i tried to be there for every service, and i even tipped them at times bc they were always patient and tolerant of my questions. but in retrospect the pool was becoming cloudier and they did nothing about it and kept telling me it was good to go. 3) the valet team lead doesn't know what she is doing - i sent her a picture with algae on the walls (uploaded separately) the day after the team serviced the pool and she told me it was from heavy use or dirt blowing in. none of which makes sense as i explained to her that dirt doesn't accumulate on walls and we don't live in the house and use the pool much. she doesn't have enough knowledge to process that, or to know what algae looks like. 4) the pool turned green after this despite two visits within days of each other, and she said it was my fault, and that their only job is to keep a pool clear, which also they did not do. i scheduled a service call to address the green pool, and she decides to deliberately screw us over and fire us as clients the day before they are meant to arrive because i complained about the quality of their service and inability to know what algae on the walls looks like. 5) there's a host of other things that went on including low water levels and a possible leak (which their valet service failed to understand). their inability to actually figure out the leak despite sending out a team (fixed by a different company i found), shutting off my pump and not telling me, servicing the pool multiple times in a week and still having an algae problem immediately following their service day. - During this process I even emailed her saying, this would be a lot easier if we could just talk on the phone, and still no phone call. Turns out she is one of the owners of the company and even the valet teams were face palm-ing at how bad she is at her job. - they are so unorganized that even after she fired us as clients, the valet team still came out to service the pool on their usual day. - if you read some of their responses to poor reviews you can see how unprofessional they are. - the only consolation is that they refunded me for the "leak detection", which was a failure, using an air pump that kept a poor seal. I asked for the last several service visits to be refunded since they were clearly ineffective. that one service they refunded was just a small percentage of the time and money i wasted on this company. Since you can't argue with people who don't care that they don't know what they are doing, I left it at that. I would stay far away from this company. In the google review you can see the obvious lack of knowledge in the pictures.

The owner, Matt is incredibly helpful and accommodating! I had NO IDEA how to maintain a pool when I bought my home. I called Matt on a whim, because another company was trying to charge me an arm and a leg for a simple fix. Matt broke everything down for me, explained exactly what to do and how to save money. He is always trying to come up with a cost-effective option for me when it comes to repairs. His team always shows up when they say they will and do great work! They have even spent time educating me on my pool and equipment! I would not have gotten through the summers without August Pool and Spa. They just completed my entire pool renovation (new plaster, coping and tile) and did an outstanding job. They got it done in less than two weeks, just in time for my birthday party :) Matt, you and your team are amazing and I'm so happy I have you guys in my corner!

Tim, the owner came over twice before the project because I had additional questions, plus another time after completion. Communication was excellent throughout and they handled all the permits. The workers themselves removed extra foliage, regraded, reseeded and left a tremendously improved yard after working very long days, everyone involved went over and above. Very rarely is dealing with contractors an easy or enjoyable experience but this was just that. 10/10.

Then when they showed up, they didn't have all the tile they needed (pattern needed three sizes; they only gave them two and told them to cut a bunch - no factory edge!!) Update: To their credit, they did track down the missing tiles and brought them to the house after I told them that if the manual cutting of tiles ended up making things look wrong, they were going to have to redo everything. The guy who brought the tiles (I think he may have been the owner) told me flat out that they prioritize their commercial work because "businesses have to keep a schedule." In the end, they ended up doing a nice job, but didn't leave spare tiles or grout behind. I will avoid these folks in the future.

This year there were a few issues I was dealing with from the start of the season. The new salt cell was not working and they had been promising me to repair it/ replace it. They stopped returning my calls and responding to my texts. It finally got resolved after about a month of follow up. Due to this I decided not to use them for my pool closing. The owner agreed to refund my prepaid closing cost in full. It has been 3 weeks and he has not sent me the check he promised, nor responded to my emails or returned my VMs. Apparently, when you are purchasing services or parts, Cascade is fine. When a problem arises, you can expect the poorest customer service imaginable. This has been very disappointing and I'm still hoping the owner will do the right thing and give me my refund.
