Ive ordered a lot of fish online. A lot. Shame on me because the thought did not even occur to me to check reviews prior to ordering. There is a basic understanding that people in this business have an appreciation for life and the animals they are responsible for. First, their shipping fee is absolutely insane. Well over $100. With other companies it's half or free after you hit a spend threshold. However they had varieties of fish I really wanted so I proceeded. Their web page boasts about how they have mastered the art of shipping fish, so I didnt know what to expect but it certainly wasnt this. More than half of the fish arrived dead. One bag, the fish were actually disintegrated. Just particulate in the bag. They have been in our care for 3-4 hours now and several more have died. Now this is bullshit and guilt I have to deal with. They mailed these poor fish 2 day mail in insane heat with 1 single icepack in the cooler. 1. The rotten ass smell is all over my house. Ive never had a fish shipment shipped 2 day mail. The kind of people that would do this to animals is absolutely disgusting. Accidents happen. Fish death happens, but based on these reviews there doesnt appear to be any kind of lessons learned. Please educate yourselves. This cant be profitable for you. read more

Scam. Sent fish that had clearly been dead for long enough they stunk. Paid almost $100 for overnight shipping for the guarantee and they refuse to send me new fish just a small store credit and I would have to pay the ridiculous shipping costs again to get the fish I paid for. Was scanned big time, ordered fish and because I wasn't at home at time of delivery postman usps does not leave at the door, live animals and it has to be a secure location. Package was returned to mission station on Valencia. Monday morning I inquired and they said they returned to center. They do not hold live animals. Through this process I called and kept getting a AI phone pickup. Trying to sell me gift cards could never reach a human. Emailed multiple times and they said my beef is with the post service not them. That I needed to take it up there. At later point they said that they did everything they could and the fish were returned back to them dead so I have to eat the cost. Without any proof that fish were dead. I paid $80 shipping to qualify for live fish guarantee, but when half my order arrived dead they would only offer store credit where I would have to pay another $80 shipping fee. After requesting multiple times to cancel the order after AZG admitted to not having the inventory I purchased Jamie refused to refund my shipment although it had not shipped. They substituted with baby fish (I knew the would), shorted the order and packed it so poorly I didn't even recv 50% of my order as they were missing or dead on arrival. The business is in my town and it still took days and over $50 shipping costs to process and ship my order. I wish I had done more research before placing the order. I ordered shrimp, minimum was 6, two different kinds, so should have been 12 total. There was only 4 in each bag, and a total of 3 dead ones. Ordered 10 rasboras, ended up with 5 live ones. This was my third or fourth purchase from this seller and I see why they have such low scores from people. I placed my order on 12/17/24 and didn't hear anything about my 6 crabs until contacting them after the new year. I was giving them extra time to prepare given that I had ordered during the holiday season. I paid $69 for next day shipping as well as $10 for packaging. When I finally received my order on 1/8/25, all but one of my panda crabs were dead. I followed the DOA claim protocol and was told that I would receive $56 credit. Really disappointed. I understand that you're a small business and are concerned about being "defrauded" but I can honestly say that *I* am the one feeling defrauded. Yes, I read your statement about shipping, however, no one expects a 2 day delay on a box with a "Saturday delivery" sticker on it. It's summer so it might not hurt your bottom line too much to throw in an extra ice pack anyway. Beyond disappointed. the Owner was very Rude in email, over all I ordered a butterfly hill stream loach, a reticulated hill stream loach, a Vampire Shrimp, and 3 Amano Shrimp all dead and one half eaten, the water smelled horrible, the shrimp had been dead for days in that bag well before they got shipped. (see photo) the reticulated Hill stream loach had obvious head trauma, and was barely alive when he arrived dying shortly after. Only the Butterfly loach survived, and the Vampire shrimp was a very small Bamboo Shrimp, the little guy is well and has been added to the Bamboo shrimp tank. I brought up the DOA's in a email and the owner was rude, right out the gate finally ending in blocking all emails and blocking me from the web Site. here are his words "you are banned from ever accessing our website again, we are also adding you to the national do not sell to list shared amongst many of the aquatic vendors. we are also blocking anymore emails from you." Being in this hobby for a number of years, 30+ I am not aware of any national do not sell list... I would as many people here have done not recommend this Seller at all, In closing I chose this seller do to them saying they had Vampire shrimp in stock, I made the mistake of being in to much of a hurry and failed to read reviews. GOT DEFORMED MOLLY. Really wish I had read yelp before spending over $100 on fish (over half of that being the cost of shipping) as I was sent a decomposing Goby (i got my package within a day), a severely deformed molly, and I was missing a fish! They were sent with very little water and was surprised that my GAE survived as he was squished between the folds of the bag, improperly packaged as that couldve easily been avoided. The GAE was also not the size the website described it would be sent at. I was happy when I was at least given a refund for the missing molly but was given $20 store credit for the dead fish and Im assuming yukatan molly (the deformed one). When I emailed I was ignored about the deformed fish that i received that CAN BARELY SWIM! So sad that I will more likely than not need to cull this fish. So, out of the FIVE fish i ordered only TWO were in good condition. read more

Avoid This Vendor. They will quickly charge your credit card, but then not respond to any inquiries about delivery of livestock. If you call the phone number listed it is an off shore marketing compay that wants you to order other things, but they hangup if you ask to speak to someone about your order. I placed one order and canceled it due to my error in not ordering everything that I thought I ad. I ordered the corect items on Nov. 11, 2024, before 9:00 and they acknowledged the receipt and they did subsequently say tey were refunding the charges, however more than a week later and the charges have not been refunded, nor have I gotten any update about items being shipped. If I receive the order by the end of this week, I will update this review, but I would still not order from this vendor again. They do not communicate, nor do they deliverin a timely manner. I wish i found this page before I ordered from them. It would have saved me s lot of money. They dont have an option to leave a review on their website so im gonna write this here. I spent a lot of money on the expidited shipping hoping my guppies would arrive safe. After arrival i saw that they had fin rot or fin tears. I asked if there was anything they could do and they said it is normal for their fins to be torn in transit and that they will heal over time. Fast forward two weeks and all 6 of the guppies I ordered both male and female have passed. They were all weak swimmers when the arrived and ended up dying from fin rot or swim bladder issues. I know it wasnt my tank parameters cus i have other healthy fish in the tank. I have ordered 99.9% of my stock for my eight tanks, thousands of dollars, online. I have never had a more disappointing experience than my first and last order with this company. I originated my order with them for some Gourami. Because it seems a waste to pay expedited shipping for only three fish, I added four others and then I fifth specie before they shipped. Not only was there considerable leakage in the Styrofoam cooler, but two of the three Gourami were DOA. They were also not the specific species that I had ordered. When I reached out to them regarding the DOA, I let them know that they sent me a completely different species. They replied that somewhere in the terms and conditions, which I discovered is viewable through a click through link, it says that they can just make a substitution on a whim. Had I known that, I would have never ever never placed an order with AZ Gardens. If I wanted the type of fish they sent me, that is what I would've ordered. I wish I had read all the reviews on Google and yelp and Facebook because I have yet to find one that is good. We ordered 7 von rio Tetra fish and they arrived okay but the majority of them were highly aggressive bullying our neocarodina shrimp and eachother untill ALL of them died from stress of disease that THEY brought into our tank. So this was my first time purchasing from Arizona Aquatic Gardens. I hadn't done any research on them before and I came across their website looking for a rare species of Corydora catfish. Their website looked incredible and they had such a huge variety of tropical fish and plants that had me impressed. Well After I placed my order for 7 Corydora's and a few days went by I emailed them asking how many more they had in stock for additional purchase since on their website you could put an infinite number of qty of fish to add to order and I knew that couldn't be right. I was thinking about ordering another 7 since they were so hard for me to come by and this might be my only chance to get them. They never responded to that email which was my first red flag. 3 weeks go by and I didn't hear from them about my order so I emailed them a second time asking if they were going to ship out my order already and if they were out of stock of the type of fish I had ordered then to just give me a refund instead. They responded immediately this time and said they would ship my order out today but still had not answered my question on how many other fish were in stock for me to order. I did receive my package the very next day with the over night shipping I had requested. They did pack the fish very well with an ammonia removing sponge in the bags and a heat pack to keep the package from getting cold in these winter freezing temperatures. All the fish arrived alive and healthy in clean water and the fish looked to be the specific type of corydora's I had ordered. So even though, I wasn't to happy about their lack of communication and the 2 week shipping delay I was still very happy with the fish I received. Keep in mind these are a type of corydora I have wanted for years but never saw them in stock online or at local tropical fish stores. So with all this being said I think that as long as your not in a hurry for your order and your patient that they are a legit company and have quality live stock. From what I researched it's just the Husband, wife and son that work this family fish farm and they are in over their heads with the sheer volume of orders they get but will still get the job done in the end and you will be happy. I would still order from them again now that I know what to expect and I am an understanding person. Communication is key though and I hope they will work on that. read more

Placed a $500+ order without reading reviews. I drip acclimated everything. Livestock went in a brand new fully cycled heavily planted tank. Shipment arrived with many DOAs and just some heads. Fast forward 3 days. Almost everything in the tank had Ich. Every piece of wood, rock, plant tissue cultures, net, and tool was brand new and could not have infected this tank. I still did not check reviews. Ordered almost $500 order and guess what I got this time, columnaris. Don't even think this tank is dirty or I am not experienced. You have a dead fish and sure they will give you "in store credit " they won't replace the fish. So you go back and replace the fish NOW you have to pay Shipping all over again. Add it up. I ordered 10 green fire tetras and received beautiful healthy fish! The ordering process was easy, I received four emails prior to getting the fish, and they were packed well. I am so happy with this purchase. I will order from them again. This is my 5th time ordering fish online, but my first time ordering from azgardens. The survival rate for my fish has been the best so far with azgardens (9/10 are alive and healthy, you have to expect some losses when shipping through the mail). All I ordered from aquatic arts arrived dead (0/3), and 4/6 fish died promptly from live aquaria on my last shipment. I think it comes down to ordering when the weather is good (not too hot or cold) from the closest possible store, unless you're buying snails or crabs which are pretty hardy. Do you know how they said they will "let you know" when they send it? Well, they didn't with me. No tracking number, no alert email, nothing. So I had no way to prepare for its arrival as I have medical problems and was at a doctor's appointment. Needless to say, I got a surprise slip from the USPS. It was delivered after 4 pm anyway and the window was closed, it was a Friday, and it took them 8 days to send the package for 24-hour shipping. By that time, the Cichlid I ordered was dead, because it was kept over the weekend. I felt bad for the fish, and I will not be buying from these vampires again.
