The Arizona Coyotes (known as the Yotes) are a professional ice hockey team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Coyotes compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference and currently play at the Mullett Arena in Tempe. Everyone knows I'm a hockey fan. This is one team that I'm sorry to say has been taking a slippery slide down the ice. When you read the team history it is very disheartening. The new owners are trying to breathe life into the team. I'm afraid they need to just take them off life support and let them die in peace. When you can't fill a 5000 seat college arena you definitely have a problem. I just can't think of a reason to give the Yotes more than two stars. read more

I am a fan of our local NHL team. I didn't grow up following hockey, but have attended a few matches over the last several years. Sports, like stand up comedy, are best enjoyed live. I am excited to have the Coyotes play in the new arena to be located near my home, just down Scottsdale Rd, in Tempe on Arizona State University's campus. It's a temporary home (shared with ASU hockey) until a new dedicated arena and entertainment complex is built nearby. Of the NHL's 31 active teams, the Coyotes have the worst points percentage all-time, dating back to the franchise's first year in the league in 1979. It's not good. I have always been a hockey fan. My husband and I have half season tickets for the majority of the 21 years we have lived here. In January of this year we were at a game in our season seats. The Yotes scored and when we were standing and cheering, my head was impelled by a FORK. The Metal Dinner FORK came from the suite above us in the Club Suites. I had to pull it out of my head. I sought paramedic help right away. While I was being treated the General Manager Joe came to me and said the lady was sorry and she dropped her plate too. He did not take an accident report. He did not get the ladies name. He hid for 4 weeks until I figured out whom he was. He never talked to me again. Coyotes offered 1 game of glass seats. They gave me a hockey puck. I was stabbed in the head at the stadium. They search you when entering stadium big time. They told me it is not all about safety. We will no longer support this Organization with our money. They will not take metal forks from the suites but they don't allow them in the Club Suites anymore. I have scars and pain still. They never retrieved the film. They said they were going too. A bunch of liars. They are a horrible organization that could care less about their fans. Why not let knives in if it is not about safety. read more

Worst experience I've every had going to hockey game. The introductions were in Spanish, mariachi band plays throughout the game and they bang annoying drums all night. I've been to hockey games all over the country and this is by no means a traditional hockey environment. I definitely see why the stadium was less than half full on a Friday night. Although the Coyotes are currently 3 from the bottom in the NHL, they are in the process of rebuilding the team. The last 2 games I've attended since the trade deadline have been some of the best games I have seen in the 2 years I have been a season ticket holder. With all the new players, there is an intensity in the play that has been, in my opinion, absent for a while. I guess they all have a lot to prove. I've been to a few Coyotes games over the past couple of years and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The team delivers the goods to it's fans. Last year, I thought they had what it took to win a championship. They played really hard and then fell to the eventual Stanley Cup champ, LA Kings. Not a bad way to end the season. For that, the hockey team of players, when their playing deserves 5 Stars. However, the team ownership can't get their financial act together and as a result has put this team in limbo. Can fans count on them staying in town? Who knows? They get 0 Stars. The players also deserve 0 Stars for causing the lockout that almost cost an entire season. The new smart phone download only ticket system is an absolutely stupid idea. Give us the option to print tickets at home! Seriously! Stop the insanity! You print them out for us at the gate anyway, so why not just let us print them at home? New season fan experience: spending hundreds of dollars for tickets, getting to the arena after a 45 minute drive in rush hour from the east valley, and then trying to find the tickets you KNOW you downloaded to your wallet, with them not showing up anymore! And then having to wait at Will Call for them to verify that you bought them, etc. What a total waste of time! We missed warmups as a result! Get to the box - five minute major, Yotes front office! When my friend (whose tickets they were) talked to her sales rep about it (who had assisted her to download them originally), he said he'd print them out and mail them to her in the future. Sigh. Who needs the hassle? We didn't! Beyond that - I love the Yotes, and the arena has made some improvements to the quality of food and drink. More vegan options please though! read more

Went to purchase tickets online. After paying for two tickets ($91) was redirected to the Ticketmaster website to download the tickets. For some unknown reason I was unable to establish a Ticketmaster account. Contacted the Coyotes ticket administration who not only were unable to assist but also would not/ could not rectify the situation. They couldn't even change the tickets to "Will Call". The person I talked to denied that there was anyone senior to her but her final words before she hung up were, "Sucks to be you". Extremely disappointed with the Coyotes management personnel. read more

As a rival of my beloved Kings I really cannot solidly "support" the 'yotes, but I definitely feel for them and really hope they can find a local owner interested in helping them keep some of their talent. Well as much as I LOVE hockey and the team, I can't go higher in my rating - for some abstract reasons - for example, it costs $20 to access the handicap parking - which is still a long way from the rink... I resent having to pay for parking. Also the seat rows (upper) are so close together that I can't actually put my foot down flat on the floor when sitting - most uncomfortable - and the concession prices for snacks and drinks are outrageous... So, less is more - drop the prices, get more people, make more money. read more

Justin Peterson is Mr. Coyote! We moved here in January from Chicago and are HUGE Blackhawk fans. Missing the action from home, we wandered into a Coyote game here in Phoenix. It was a fun time! We received a phone call a few days later from the Coyotes asking us if we indeed "had a fun time"! How cool is that? Nobody in Chicago would ever call you after a sporting event! Justin was the guy who called us. He then asked if he could help us procure any additional tickets because we had such a fun time. Unfortunately, we didn't have jobs here yet and funds were a bit tight, so we declined. Justin started calling us every month or so to check in. He first and foremost asked how we were doing and how the job search was going. We alwayst finished our brief chats with a pitch to buy tickets. Sadly, we had to continue to refuse for monetary reasons. Justin called in February, March, April, May, and by June he began to feel like family. Justin is a guy who really cares about his customers and clientele. We finally, in September, purchased a 5 pack of tickets (still my hubby without a job). You can teach people to do a job; but what you cannot teach is the ability to care about people. We are excited about going to games this coming season for the Coyotes (and got tix to the Blackhawks game too)...but more than that, we are excited to know someone like Justin. How the team continually stays here, Bettman should earn a gold medal for this. Truly impressive. It's sad how the team has gone through mostly down's...what's going to happen when Shane Doan retires, a true warrior that probably doesn't have more than 3 years at most to play at an effective level. Trading away Yandle this year at the trading deadline, their only true offensive gun back there, will hurt. Other than their monster centre Hanzal, it's not really a tough team to play against. Just need Smith to hold down the fort in the pipes. read more

This won't be a rant or rave about the team, the fans, or management. I'm going to reveiw this as an activity/night out for the family. Action: The team was right around .500 this season so most of the games were quite good. They do seem to play up for good teams and down for poor teams, so the games usually are well fought (which for die hard fans would be irritating, but for someone that just wants to see good hockey it's actually a plus). Value: For a pro sport, flat out awesome. You can get seats in the upper deck for right around $20-$24. We usually sit up there and you can see everything just fine. We've walked around the stadium a fair bit and have sat in several different places... I don't think there are many bad seats in the house. Souveniers are flat-out expensive; you can find the same items (or almost the same) online for about 50% of the in-arena cost. Ambiance/environment: Good enough so you can bring kids. Stadium is clean and well kept. The resturants just to the north are great and lots of people go there before the game for a drink or some food, and there are some decent places there. Food: Not bad for an arena. Definitely doesn't count as cheap, but not outrageous. The difference in cost is small enough that that I recommend buying the premium beer over the Bud Light/Coors Light/meh beverage. Location: Gets low marks for being way out in Glendale and recently instituting parking fees. Overall: Definitely worth going to see. The team is young and has several good players on it. It hasn't really taken off in popularity yet but attendence has gone up on average the past few seasons. I'd recommend going to see some games now, as signs do point to a good team in a few years and likely higher ticket prices to go with that. read more

I've been a hockey fan for years and I've tried so hard to like the Coyotes since I'm an Arizona resident, but I just can't do it. This team is absolute garbage and has been for years. Their star defenseman OEL is very shaky defensively, which is a shame. Their goaltending is subpar and their revolving door of young talent is killing this team. I pretty much only cared about this team for Dylan Strome and now that he's gone, well I can leave this team in the dust--thankfully. Still glad they're here cause that means I can see my Canucks. read more

When my wife and I had a chance to move to the Phoenix area in 2004 I was immediately thrilled to know we could see NHL hockey on a regular basis. The Coyotes have improved in the last couple years but even when they didn't make the playoffs you're still watching great hockey. So many People are fans of "winning" and not of a sport. I went to the preseason game on Saturday night September 21, 2019 and the coyotes were hosting the Anaheim ducks. It was a good game with a lot of scoring in the last two periods. I went with family members but it was getting late so as the game was going overtime we left which was OK by me. It is a little cool in the area and in the arena so you might want to bring a jacket and wear long pants but everybody there is friendly helpful and courteous and the food is good with different offerings at different stands throughout the arena and the restrooms were nice and clean. This wasn't the first time I was there as I've been to a couple regular season games with family. read more

This was my first pro hockey game! I really enjoyed the ambiance - but one thing I didn't realize.... Hockey = ice. Ice = cold. I froze. Make sure you take a jacket to stay warm (unless you are unnaturally hot bodied) and you will have a blast. They have all the bells and whistles with the lights and music blaring - just fun! We sat in the nosebleeds - but still really enjoyed the game. We got to the area before the game to grab a bite to eat - every place was packed. The prices also were higher than what the menu had posted - not sure if this is common at all the restaurants around the arena.... We went to the game right as it was starting, and were surprised by all the empty seats. They slowly filled up - so if you are on time, it is pretty easy to get in and to your seats. read more

I attended the game last night with my wife and daughters. The overall experience was excellent. Plenty of restrooms, food and beverage choices, outside of the game entertainment by staff was excellent, staff is friendly. The only thing that was a negative and wasn't that the Coyotes lost was the harassment at the main gate by a marketing company. I was actually stopped in my tracks and asked why I did not want to partake. Ticket prices a little pricy for the product put on the ice. read more

Great experience. I ordered tickets on-line and was able to get pretty decent seats in the defending goal area. I am from California but I was visiting family in Phoenix so I thought I'd treat them to a hockey game while I was there. A few weeks before I was set to travel, a representative from the Coyotes (I am so sorry, I wish I could remember his name), gave me a call to say he had seen my order and noticed that I was from out-of-town. He asked if I had ever been to see the Coyotes in Arizona and when I said no, he asked if there was any information I needed or anything he could do to make my attendance at the game more enjoyable or convenient. I said no, and he told me to give him a call if I needed anything. Once we got to the game we parked across the street in the football stadium parking lot. The area around the Gila River arena was pretty awesome with bars, restaurants, and assorted shops all right there on the same property. You can walk through the courtyard and choose where you want to eat or have a beer before the game and then stroll over to the arena for the game. Inside, the staff is friendly and the seats are comfortable and the restrooms and food areas are conveniently located. On top of that, the Coyotes won in over time. First off I'm thrilled to be living in the Phoenix area finally and for two primary reasons. 1) the Dbacks 2) Phoenix Coyotes hockey! I use to go to Las Vegas Wranglers ECHL minor leauge hockey all the time and I dreamed of the day I could come to Phoenix and see my beloved Coyotes play whenever I please and that day has finally come. We've only lived here for two weeks and my wife and I have already caught two games. The second game we beat the Sharks in true Arizona, hard earned fashion and it was amazing. I'm even more hooked than I thought I was before. Even the game they lost was still fun and entertaining. The fans are great, they always get into the game, the arena is incredible! Best sound system I've ever experienced, and the actual play on the ice is always outstanding. This is all around a first-class entertainment option and quite possibly the best value in town. Sure the location kinda sucks for most people, but once you step foot in that building and hear your Phoenix Coyotes howl and skate onto the ice, you know it's worth it and are already asking yourself, "when can we do this again?!" read more

Coyote fans are ridiculous!!! They have no passion!!! They are the worst in the NHL!!! They get mad at the fans and threaten to throw them out because they get excited over what is going on the ice!! My friend and I would stand up on exciting plays at our end of our ice, and also during stoppage of play. This is hockey people!!! People get excited!!!! I have never heard anything like this ever in any sporting event that I have been to!!!! I'm very disappointed in the coyotes!!!! I was told by the security that "you can't stand up if people behind you complain" What is that crap!!! Have you ever heard of that??? When you hear "local" you usually think small. But this local team brought out 17,000+ friends, family members, and neighbors for game one of the playoffs series last week. The venue, Jobbing.com Arena, is on the west side right off the 101. Parking was organized, and we were in our seats within ten minutes of arriving. The energy inside the stadium was great. Walking around during periods provided the usual munchies, beer, and sports memorabilia, but the best part was the people watching. Wear white, everyone does, but it doesn't stop there: white faces, white Mohawks, white tuxedo suits, and white skirts, T-shirts, and sweaters--the "white out" is real! When the game in on, it's fast moving, tense at times, unbelievable (Smith defended his goal for what seemed like forever without his stick, which had been knocked out of his hands and beyond reach--crazy!), and just a great time. Granted, it was a playoff game, and the Coyotes won in overtime, but any time you can yell, scream, stamp your feet, do the wave, and and jump to your feet to high-five the stranger next to you must be considered a good time. Maybe growing up in Michigan and hearing "Red Wings" at least once a day left me with hockey in my DNA, but I think anyone would love this. Go in person or watch on TV, but support this local biz! read more

I've been to at least one game of every sports franchise in Phoenix, including minor league events. While all of them were solid experiences, not one of them comes close to treating their fans as well as the Coyotes do. This organization seems to genuinely care that you have the optimal experience at every event; and it isn't just false actions to try and get your money. I went to a game tonite, my first in a few years, with my two year old son. I have a disability however the tickets I was given by a friend were normal seating. By the time I got to Glendale, it was right around gametime. However, despite the fact that by this point the handicapped accessible seats were full in the section of seats I had, the organization went out of their way to help and got me seats in a CLOSER accessible seating section. In fact the section I was put in only would have been closer if I was on the ice with the team. They did so and did not charge one cent extra. They just as simply could have stuck me in the nosebleed area to get me handicapped accessible seating but upgraded me because they "wanted me to enjoy the full experience." Then, the team went above and beyond to make sure my son had a tremendous experience, giving him a pack of player cards, one of the on ice used pucks after the game, a certificate for attending his first game and a few coupons for the team store. This all is above and beyond the fan experience I expect when buying a ticket or attending an event. Will be back again very soon. Oh and did I mention, if you get there early and look, you can find free parking? Not too many teams offer that.. read more
