I called the Casa Grande, AZ Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery and advised them that I had…read morea diagnosis of an epidermoid that needed removal. The office acknowledged and made an appointment for 6 weeks later. A week before the appointment they sent me preliminary paperwork to complete online which I did. In that it asked, "Reason for this visit" which had a box for "Procedure" which I checked, then further stated "Epidermoid removal". At the appointment Dr. Jason Michaels came in and was in the room less than 45 seconds. He stated, "I'm not the guy that does this, you will be referred to someone else" and promptly left the room. When I went to leave, they stated that would be $104.00. They also billed my insurance. They were told multiple times why I was coming in and did not at any time state that they didn't do this procedure, they had ample time and opportunity to tell me that at any point prior to the appointment. It is obvious that if you tell them you need a root canal, they will make the appointment, bill your insurance, charge you $104.00, then tell you they are not a dentist. Their goals as a practice is to cycle patients and their co pays and insurance company to the highest possible frequency. Your health is not the concern. I received no procedure, no service of any type. It was a "Thanks for checking in, now get out" 45 second appointment. There is a reason they are not a BBB accredited business and have many complaints with a less than stellar rating. This is medical billing fraud. If you are not the guy and you bill the patient and the insurance company to say that, that is medical billing fraud. All of us lose if this becomes the standard in health care.

Once the nurse practitioner and Doctor came in to check all areas. Only a couple of spots needed to be checked. I opted in to have a mole removed and tested. It wasn't too painful as they numb the area. After they give instructions and some ointment to put in the area. A couple days later they called for follow up. I expressed concern on the area was red and a bit itchy. They said they would ask the doctor and call back with a follow up. Whig never happened. The area is healing and a bit dark. Would've been 5 stars but no follow up after I complained of area concern.

She got me checked in quickly, and I read my book and waited. What I noticed as I was waiting was the calm and cool atmosphere. It was one of the staff members' birthdays, so there were tons of decorations and food. The staff seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. Eventually, I was taken back to a room by the medical assistant, Maria, who took her time to ask me questions, listen to my concerns, and take pictures. Quickly Nurse Practitioner Nohe Sebhatu comes in and warmly greets me. Like Maria, he listens to my concerns and checks everything out that I mention. He put the choices of the next steps in my hands, which felt so good. I am excited for my follow up in May.

I understand what can go on, but my experiences with this dermatology department have consistently left me feeling rushed, dismissed, and genuinely uncomfortable. Every visit feels less like patient care and more like being processed through an assembly line. The most disrespectful moment came when I was actively asking a question and the lights in the room were literally turned off, an unmistakable cue that my time was up and I needed to leave. I honestly could not believe it happened. It was incredibly unprofessional and made me feel like my concerns were an inconvenience rather than the reason for the appointment. To make matters worse, I later noticed my dermatologist leaving the building in a rush with a car full of balloons. I completely understand that people have lives, schedules, and events outside of work, and I also understand appointments can sometimes run over. However, this was my annual appointment until they decided it wasn't. This is something patients often wait months for and reasonably expect not to be rushed through. Beyond that, the overall atmosphere has often felt cold and judgmental. Patients should not leave a medical office feeling embarrassed for simply asking questions or seeking help. Dermatology can already make people feel vulnerable enough without adding dismissive behavior on top of it. Efficiency is one thing. Basic respect and bedside manner are another. Unfortunately, this office seems to have confused the two.

This is not the first cherry angioma I have had removed, so I know that when the procedure is performed correctly, it is typically removed the first time. From the moment I arrived, the appointment was treated as a follow-up visit. In my view, this was not a follow-up; it was a correction of an unsuccessful procedure. Despite this, I was required to pay for another office visit. I do not consider this fair or ethical. I expected the clinic to take responsibility for a treatment that did not achieve the intended result and to show greater consideration for its patients. I have been a patient of this clinic for several years, but after this experience, I have decided not to return. I am sharing this review so others can be aware of my experience and make an informed decision.
