I'm writing this review to share my experience with this office's new‑patient process. Unfortunately, I've now been turned away twice--once a few years ago and again this week--because they consider me "established" with another gastroenterologist simply due to a routine 2021 colonoscopy. I only met that doctor on the day of the procedure and never had any follow‑up care, but the office still refused to schedule me. I also want to mention that the staff was not very polite either time I called. While I understand offices have policies, the way it was communicated felt dismissive rather than helpful. It made an already frustrating situation even more disappointing. Because this has happened to me twice, I've decided to seek care with a different gastroenterology practice. I had DR. Kanner for many years and everything was fine. AFTER i HAD SCHEDULED MY LAST PROCEDURE THEY TOLD ME DR. KANNER WAS RETIRING AND I WOULD HAVE ANOTHER DOCTOR. I decided to cancel the procedure and called three days in advance. They told me I did not call three days in advance and charged me $150.00. I then sent them a copy of the paperwork I had and they told me I should have called the day before which would have been Four days in advance. Never have I had such a poor experience. They are not helpful at all. You never get to speak to anyone. You either have to leave a message or send a message thru their portal. And still no response. It seems that they only want to do colonoscopies but not help patients that have other issues. read more

Dr Mokhashi and team are the most knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful group that we've trusted over a decade now. Dr Mokhashi takes time to explain a procedure pre, during and post. There is no "hurry up and go" attitude from him or his team! Their caring attitude truly puts you at comfort. For your digestive needs this is the doctor you should give a try, most likely the last as you'll surely agree he and his team are second to none in their services. read more

Incompetent! Stood in-line for over an hour today. Never talked to anyone including the front desk as there were at least 7 people in front of me and no movement. Had an appointment I couldn't miss, but after waiting over an hour in-line I had to leave. read more

This is my second visit here, my first app was back in 2021, the original Doctor I saw had retired luckily as I wasn't a fan, just seemed to be in a hurry to get you in and out and didn't seem to care. This appointment I met with Dr. Chuang he was an absolute delight. He viewed my chart the day prior so he was prepared for my visit. He was very friendly, personable and tentative. I told him what I was experiencing, he listened and recommended different options. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the call center in the back. It's an old office thats crowded, uncomfortable and the girls in the back don't seem very friendly or happy to be there. Not sure if it's poor/bad management that's affecting the staff? But just basing it off of Doctor Chuang I'd recommend him. The two receptionists up front were nice too. read more

All the other reviews are correct! I showed up to my appointment and because paperwork wasn't filled out before they told me to reschedule. When coming to my rescheduled appointment they told me I had a $50 charge to pay for my last no show appointment!! Find any other office besides this one! read more

Dr AJ and team, staff, and facility absolutely crushed it. He miraculously rescheduled my procedures in a 15 hour timeframe with no hesitation, angst, or uproar. I needed to have them done because of a scheduling miscommunication with my primary Drs office and his office. When Dr AJ learned about the issue, he changed his to work for me. NO hesitations He is the best. read more

Dr. Rao is excellent. Unfortunately his office staff is horrible and the office manager is worse.. When I showed for a routine follow up they wanted me to sign a new no show policy. The office manager was angry when I questioned some of the details. I left without signing and they had the gaul charged me a no-show fee per new policy, the same one I refused to sign without more information. I refused to pay since I did show up. The office manager needs to be fired immediately. and the entire office staff needs to be overhauled. I have never been treated more rudely by an office manager. read more

Dr. Trevedi was arrogant, cold, uncaring and dismissive of my husband's GI issues. I am my husband's care partner and his "bedside manner" was the worst I've ever seen. I did all I could to hold in my anger during this visit. We were looking for a second opinion but will never deviate from the Banner systems again. We love Banner doctors. If he's your doctor, I hope he cares more about your needs than he cared about my husband who is also suffering from Parkinson's disease and Lewy Bodies. Shame on him! read more

Dr. Chuang is so kind and great at what he does. Was very thorough in explaining everything! I initially was trying to see Dr. Atia, but her books are so out and I couldn't wait that long to be seen. The front desk staff is so kind as well. Seriously couldn't have asked for a better experience on a sensitive topic. read more

Awesome docs. Kidney specialist. The care quality was unbelievable they're right on top of it and the office was very polite and kind. I recommend Southwest Kidney Institute to everybody who's having issues in that part of their body they are the best their patients, they spend time with you, they answer your questions and they offer you treatments and care. Have had problems being able to communicate with Dr. Verkhovsky the last year. The latest was when I called Wednesday and talked to his pa regarding his instructions for my wife Rose using OTC meds. I needed clarification of her use. She assured me that she would call back by end of business Friday. When I hadn't heard from her by 3:30 I called and had to leave a voicemail, because it was Friday I called the business to let them know I hadn't heard anything. Soon after she called me back but couldn't remember the details of our conversation then told me she didn't have instructions from the doctor. I told her that because of that I guessed we would need to schedule an appointment with the doctor to get answers. I don't know why Dr. Verkhovsky wouldn't give his pa instructions to give us over the phone. read more

Having to reschedule 48 hours before your appointment is a money grab scam. Things come up in life that are uncontrollable. To charge $50 for complete cancelation is one thing, but to do for a reschedule is pure greed. read more

Avoid this place!! they are only money hungry and immediately begin ordering procedures you don't need. Dr Singer didn't listen to what I was telling him about my symptoms, and I kid you not, he called my exam "a date"!!!! WTH?? He gave me the creeps and I did not feel comfortable with him at all. Anyways, the bill came up for a total of $600 for about a 10 min visit that ended up with me spending an additional $80 cream at their suggested pharmacy. Their billing department couldn't explain why my new patient exam was $380 for new patient (the $263 diagnostic exam was self explanatory, but the $380 for new patient is ridiculous. What was the $380 for, for setting up a binder with my name?? Nobody listened to me from start to finish at this office. I'll pay the bill so they don't mess up my credit, but all I can do is to plead to fellow yelpers to steer clear from this practice. If you need a good GI doctor, please look elsewhere! Regarding Dr. Atia. I cannot, with a good conscience, give this doctor a good review. It has nothing to do with medical training or knowledge but with my personal experience as a patient. I felt that she was not a good listener when I was having problems and asking her for help. I felt that she was very dismissive of my symptoms and my concerns and even how often I asked for help. She commented that I call her office a lot. Well, yes I did because I knew something was seriously wrong, I was trying to get help and I knew I had to advocate for myself. You can't say that I didn't give her many chances. I felt I did not get the care I needed when I needed it and I finally had to go to the E/R for the necessary relief. It turned out to be a very serious problem that dragged on much longer than it needed to due to lack of timely treatment. I am now with a very experienced doctor that also shows compassion and care, listens to me and takes me seriously when I have a problem. It was hard to write a negative review but I hope Dr. Atia reads it and learns from it. read more

.this is the worst dr office I have ever been to. I got a referral on July 9,21 ( from PC it took me til Sept.17,21 to get an appointment. Their office call & left a message on cell ( on Sept.16th) & since I didn't have it on til today I didn't get message right away, I called at 11:15 am & was asked about Covid Vaccination which I gave them & they reminded me of my appointment for 12 noon & to be there by 11:45 am. I got there at 11:30 am & was told the Dr was running 1/2 hour late, . Well at 12:50 I was finally called & When i mention to the nurse that I wasn't happy about the wait, she said well we a busy because we have a lot of people that come here, Then put me in a room & took vitals & left saying the Dr would be right in. 20 minutes later I got up & walked out & the girl at the desk said have a nice day & I didn't even see the DR. From the moment I met Dr. Atia, I knew I was going to experience positive improvements in the quality of my life. At the initial visit, sure truly listened, and even supported my thoughts and wishes on how I would hope to proceed. She quickly arranged for me to receive treatment. She's smart, open-minded, and humble. At the treatment procedure, she provided great explanation and care. Her whole team mirrored her approach to patient care. My Son is a patient here DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!! I work in the medical field so I am very familiar on how things in a practice should be ran been in the medical field for 17 years and the communication between the medical assistant of Dr. Yanish is awful. It been almost 4 weeks and still no result on my son's test have called left message no return phone, called again finally got Dr. Yanish MA. She stated that they do not have the labs that she would have Dr. Yanish pull them and read and she will give me a call back and this was a week ago still no results. Called ask to speak to the office manager explained to the girl answering the phone what was going on she put me on hold and came back and said she was transferring to the office manager and I get her voicemail..still no results after 3 weeks maybe more from a lab test. Oh and I forgot to mention the MA for Dr. Yanish hung up on me the first time I called to speak with her because I was questioning her and she said I was being rude and hung up. In my days of practice managment she would have been written up or fired. Proper protocol would be to transfer to office manager to try and resolve the issue with the patient. This MA seriously needs some training and needs to be educated on customer service. STAY FAR AND CLEAR OF THIS OFFICE!!!! The sad thing is that Dr. Yanish was nice. read more

I'm getting really sick of my mom coming back from doctor visits in tears. They see she's overweight and that's all they see. They don't listen to problems, they don't take the time to talk to her about other issues. 'Just lose weight and all your problems will magically disappear', is basically what every visit gets her. Sound logic there guys. Because every medical problem ever is tied directly to how much you weigh, so that's why thin people never have health issues and you've never had to treat anyone thin. Oh wait, yes you have, so what the hell is your excuse for this attitude? There could always be more to a problem than you are seeing on the outside, so why does Dr. Yanish not seem to understand this? She constantly feels attacked for her weight, put down, even insulted because of it. There is no bedside manner whatsoever. Every visit leaves her in tears. If she has questions like she had today they are dismissed, she's interrupted when asking them, or completely ignored. She saw a magazine ad for medicine that describes each and every symptom she endures every day perfectly. The ad said it could be due to an enzyme her body lacks, so she brought the ad in to ask about the enzyme and get a more professional opinion. As soon as she brought the magazine out of her purse, Dr. Yanish took it and threw it aside without even listening to what my mother was going to ask. He went on a rant about how people shouldn't be able to advertise drugs in magazines and dismissed any of my mom's other questions about it. She wasn't asking about the drug, just that they described her problems and mentioned the enzyme; she just wanted a professional opinion and was completely humiliated for even daring to bring it up! What has happened to bedside manner? All that is being asked for is an explanation why something would or wouldn't work. Instead, she constantly gets this attitude of 'Because I said so' and nothing after that. That explanation wouldn't work on a three year old let alone a full grown adult! Try harder! If you can't explain it, then you are in the wrong line of work! There is no excuse for treating someone this way just because they are overweight. There is no help outside of just telling her to lose weight. Thanks, we can get that advice from rude people on the street, can I get a little more information on how to go about that? My mom eats less than most people to begin with! Want to know what her normal breakfast is? Toast and coffee, and she's so bloated after just that that she eats even less the rest of the day. She never snacks. Does her doctor listen when she tells him this? No. They say nothing about it, just lose weight. Nothing about what could be causing the digestive issues, the constipation, or anything else. Just lose weight. Weight, weight, weight. It's like an action figure with one phrase programmed into it. Why bother with doctors when they've made up their minds about you without one real conversation with their patients? This is the reason why people don't see doctors like they should (besides the cost that is not worth it if this is the end result). Dr. Yanish doesn't care, so don't bother trying. Dr. Mokhashi performed my overdue colonoscopy. He removed one tubular adenoma, commonly referred to as "precancerous" or "premalignant" polyp meaning it wasn't cancerous but if left unattended it could become such. My previous colonoscopy had been done in California before I moved and I did not have any issues. I was told I would not need another colonoscopy for 7 to 8 years. Though, this time, I was a bit surprised to find I had a polyp, I could not have been more pleased with the care and thoroughness of treatment I received from Dr. Mokhashi and his assistant. Both were all I could ask for and attentive as one would expect...and I am very particular about medical care. And one last point, there are two types of preparations--one is covered by insurance and the other is not. The old style is grueling to do and can wipe you out through the night before. The one you probably have to pay for is worth every penny and is a much simpler process. Ask about both. Do the simpler and easier of the two. Cost was about $85 and worth every penny. It has been my greatest challenge since moving to Arizona six years ago which is why I did not have my most recent colonoscopy until about 9 years after the first. Whatever you do, do not wait to take care of this very important healthcare matter. PS. I am sorry for the person of the previous review. My experience was a complete and opposite 180 from hers. read more

I am a 59 year old female and had a colonoscopy performed by Dr. Atia. I had a few questions the day of my prep and they returned my call in about an hour. I used the Miralax prep and it was too harsh and almost brutal. Will never use that again. Next time I plan to try the PrepOpik. All the staff at the facility including the doctor were amazing. They were very attentive and kind. read more

Went in for a routine screening, my first one. It was to be covered 100% by my insurance. ADH billed with screening codes instead of preventative codes and I was left to pay a balance. I contacted my insurance company, they said it should be covered 100% and they went back and asked ADH to submit under the correct code, they refused. I contacted ADH and they stand firm that the codes are accurate and this is my insurance companies problem. I asked them to write it off and they refused. I would not recommend this establishment simply for poor business practices. I am appealing the decision. read more

This office took 36 hours to return a nurse triage call that should have been returned in 1 to 2 hours.. They apparently had no nurses to return the call so they kept sending my urgent question through to voicemail for a medical assistant. It seems to me they rely on the "if this is a life threatening emergency hang up and dial 911 on the phone system" but they leave it up to you to decide what is an emergency and, to cover their responsibility, rely on the Emergency room and the disclaimer on the phone system. I was scheduled to be seen 9 days after my original phone call and waited 45 minutes without being called. I have spoken with the office manager as well as they Physician and the office manager is lying about my having called the day after the urgent situation arose. They are lying saying they never received my message until right when she returned the call because they know what they did is wrong and bad, bad, bad patient care. If I were a new customer with a choice I would keep on looking. I am 34 year RN with 15 years working offices and clinics doing the same job I was needing help with from this office.
