9 12 17 I received my APS bill on 8 10 17. In the envelope was a note saying their printer had problems and was late in sending out bills. The amount of the bill was $266.08 with included a discount of $31.75. This would bring the total before discount $297.83 and this is for a 12 ft. X 60 ft. mobile home. I looked at the Average daily electricity use per month comparison from July of 2017 to July of 2016 and saw an outrageous difference in comparison. I immediately called APS and told them I disputed the amount. I live alone and did nothing different from last year to cause such a great increase. Then I got the "OH THIS WAS AN EXCEPTIONALLY HOT YEAR, BLA, BLA, BLA" BLOW OFF. I CALLED AZ CORP COMMISSION AND TOLD THEM MY COMPLAINT TO WHICH THEY REPLIED THEY WOULD CONTACT APS AND HAVE ONE OF THE CSR INVESTIGATE. Shortly thereafter I received a call from aps Customer Representative named Tracy Dean. I told her the problem and also insisted that just looking at the comparison from last year this bill was in error. She said she would get back to me. I stated that I reside in the same mobile I have for the last 25 years, a 12 ft. X 60 ft. live alone and have had no difference in my life style from last year yet just looking at the average daily electricity use per month comparison to last year there has to be some kind of error. The current bill being just shy of $300 for the month. She said she would check into it and get back to me. Get back to me she did. After checking into the situation she did notify me that there would be a $41.00 credit and that it would be applied to my next month's bill. I am a senior on a limited income and on behalf of all seniors living on a very limited income I want to extend a sincere thank you for her professionalism and promptness. The $41.00 credit shows me that not only is there a God but that large corporations do make mistakes. It is too bad that not all CSR really do look into it as many just want to just get rid of you. read more

Just recently we had a company that was contracted by APS, and 3 of those employees stood in the middle of a project screaming racial slurs and a Hispanic employee, then took off their safety vests wanting a physical altercation. Got charged two times in a month and asked for a total refund they ended up taking the money and using for the next bill without ever communicating with the customer on what is happening... so then I received only $32 versus my expectated bill $162 I was absolutely pissed. Then they told me I can't have the electricity turned on and I was responsible for the balance over $2000. My sister had passed away in October so I called APS to inform inform them of this because she lived there. The time I called, they couldn't tell me whose name the bill was under because it was not my account or billing. Having to evict guest that were there after my sister had passed away and being the executor of this home, that shouldn't make me responsible of something that could've been prevented when I called to let them know. APS is now telling me that I am responsible for this bill and have to pay. Why would APD allow the electricity to stay on after I had informed them of my sister's death. I called them in good faith to tell APS my sister passed away. APS customer service assured me that It would not be my responsibility to make that payment if theres any outstanding PMT. My last bill literally had $147.76 charge for "energy delivery service charge sum of tier 1 and tier 2" along with about another almost $200 in other frivolous fees. Far as I'm concerned, APS does fraudulent activity. I've been charged for months asking. Why am I being charged for a meter that has no service on never get an answer never get an answer then finally almost after about a year. I get an answer. They told me oh well you should've just turned that service off for that meter a long time ago That was never an option. I was always told the meters were linked together. I really hate that We don't have the flexibility to choose our providers like other states. What sucks is there's more APS territory than there is SRP, at least in the metro Phoenix area I want to live in. What I really hate about APS is how they've handled the pandemic. In 2020 even though it was just a few short years ago. I was just this kid in his early 20s that didn't know how to navigate this whole situation, I just did the best I could. I was getting less hours but just enough hours to wear my boss didn't have to get unemployment. The IRS also has not given me stimulus checks even though I had at least my 2018 taxes filed at the time. So I'm not making money really. So for months, I'm accumulating electricity, bills, and it keeps building up and up. So now fast forward to 2021, things are somewhat getting back to normal, but now I have to somehow pay all this money back while still having to keep up with the increased cost-of-living while trying to pay these very high electric bills, for the last few years on and off, I've had to pay anywhere from $250 to sometimes $350 because of the deferred amount, normally I should just be paying $70-$100 max. So I'm able to make the payments for a while then life happens, and I end up getting behind again, I've gotten assistance from Salvation Army and DES recently, and it's just not enough still. It's like a never ending cycle. So I had to move out of my apartment because I just can't do it anymore. I mean just four years ago I went from having an $800 rent to a $1400 rent and I'm supposed to maintain electricity by paying three or four times more. If I had SRP I'm firm that I wouldn't have gone through this. read more

Huge thank you to APS for outstanding service provided during recent outage which was extremely brief due to very quick response from APS after reporting the problem. My electricity was back on within 20 minutes and remained on while necessary follow up repairs were done. APS gave me the name and direct contact information for project manager (Lee) who immediately returned my call with answers to my questions and continued to keep me informed of everything being done. All repairs were completed today and the service provided from Lee and his crew was professional, responsive, intelligent, gracious, honest and truly perfection. Thank you again to everyone at APS and especially to Lee and his guys for being the best of the best and also to PDI who I understand worked in coordination with them. read more

I bought a new HVAC system and thought I would qualify for some sort of rebate since everyone that I've known that has purchased one has always told me make sure I call for the rebate. Called this morning and found out that unless the company is on their hand selected list, the new units are not qualified. As far as I know, if you're installing HVAC systems I would assume you'd have to be licensed under the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, so why does it matter which company does the job. This company's a joke. Prices are crazy high and pricing strategy is confusing as hell. On top of that, they only appear to want to help the consumer but in reality it's all just a cash grab for them. I would hate to work at this company and constantly have to tell people "I'm sorry but because of policy XYZ you don't qualify for this rebate or this pricing plan". I've been a customer for APS for 20 years, and I'm very disappointed with their services...They charge a LOT for an apartment like mine of 800 SQ feet, that does NOT have A/C just a swamp cooler for summer time and 2 Radiators for winter time...I am very frugal, I count my money very carefully, I am retired with a very low Income...I don't put up lights for Christmas, the swamp cooler is used very carefully, and it cost way to little comparing with a A/C...This year they charged me more for the month of july( 90 degrees) than the month of oct-nov(79 degrees) by their estimations,as average...Outside was 115 degrees... It' insane! Talking to them it's not helpful, trying to say that could be something wrong with my A/C...I don't have an A/C for 10 years...They read that Meter whatever the way is beneficial to them, nobody can verify a thing...They might say that is something wrong with the meter...They installed it...They also said that a physical person will come to read-check the meter...wait!!! in 20 days...Daah!!! Worst public utility ever! Expensive and unresponsive. I just waited on hold for 30 minutes and gave up.

APS was my provider when I first moved to Arizona from Washington DC in 2003. The fact that power remained on during and after storms gave it a huge plus after the horrors of PEPCO. The couple of times we did lose power during monsoon season it was restored within a couple of hours so no harm done. The service itself was reliable. But--it was crazy expensive. We rented a two-BR apartment and the bills were over $100/month almost every month, including the cool season. Now some of this is because the apartment complex didn't maintain their HVACs (we lost power over July 4 weekend!) but it should have been much lower during the months when we didn't need AC or heat. Since those days, I bought a home in SRP territory. More power failures but none last long and the cost is far lower in my 2-story townhome. Disclaimer: I briefly worked on a contract with APS. They are phasing out storefront payment in some areas. You can pay online with a credit card but there is a fee charged by the third-party processor (can't avoid this). The best way to pay is to set up automatic payments online. Also check their site for tips on saving energy. read more

September 14, 2016 UPDATE: I received both an EMail and a Telephone follow up call from APS Customer Operations Leader Kathy Langstaff today. Kathy spent well over an hour talking and working together with me on the APS website showing how the billing / charging per KwH is set up. The issue is quite complex with having 21 or so total fees going in to making up your final APS bill for the month. However, Kathy endured my barrage of questioning, much of which I could have been a bit more tactful in presenting to her because I thought I may have been being cheated and was just overall frustrated thinking APS was just not going to follow up with me. After our conversation I have to say that I'm quite impressed with how Kathy represented APS and the fine job she is doing for them in the Customer Service department. So, if anyone out there needs a professional from APS to answer their questions please contact Kathy Langstaff. She is as good as it gets! September 13, 2016 APS. What a shame. No one from their Customer Service Department including Supervisors can answer a simple question as to why I am being charged one rate per KwH in my contract, but a higher rate per KwH on my bill. I found this out inadvertently by doing an on-line comparison of my old electric bills vs. my new electric bills after having a new Air Conditioner installed a few months ago. I believe I have been an APS customer since at least 1990 and I can't help but wonder if have been overcharged for the past 26 years? I contacted a Customer Service representative on August 11, 2016 and they were unable to answer my question. So, they forwarded me to a Customer Service Supervisor named "Esther M." Esther was unable to answer my question and took my information with a promise to call me back. A week had past and I had not heard back from "Esther M." so I called her back. She said she was "still working on it." Folks, how hard can this really be? To "Esther's" credit she did call me back a few days later saying she was unable to answer my question but had forwarded to an APS Analyst for review. On August 24th, "Esther M." gave me a courtesy call-back and said "The Analyst did not have the answer and is waiting on the "APS.Com" team for the answer." No one from APS has called me back since August 24th. I guess this is beyond the "Difficult" level for Customer Service? No luck at the Customer Service level with APS, so naturally go to their supervisor: The Vice President for Customer Services at APS is named STACY DERSTINE. She seems to very difficult to get a hold of and apparently does not list any way to contact her on the APS web sites, and the Supervisors would not give me her direct information. However, after an internet search I called their Corporate Headquarters at (602) 250-1000 on September 8th and got a voice automated system. STACY DERSTINE'S voice mail is answered by someone other than her. I left a voice message along with my email address outlining my concerns and asked for a call back. I also believe I discovered STACY DERSTINE'S EMail address and sent her a note with the same concerns. However, The Vice President for Customer Service has not responded with my Customer Service inquiry. Not very professional in my humble opinion. The Email was not rejected or returned so I know it went through. The previous Vice President for Customer Service was named Tammy D. McLeod. She would send out an Annual Account Summary in the mail to all APS customers and give her EMail address and Telephone number if you had any questions. If I can't "shame" APS into professionally following up with me, I'll take this note and all of my documentation to the Corporation Commission for assistance. Customer Service folks. APS is absolutely deplorable. They have a complete monopoly on Phoenix. Consumers don't have a choice for power service provider and because APS knows this, they charge like old mob racket. I have had service with them, again, no choice, and one day I get a letter stating that I have a security deposit required. I had service at this new address for 5 months before this came to so I called. They told me because I was past the due date that they can at their discretion ask for one. EVEN AFTER SERVICE HAS BEEN CONNECTED. I obviously have no choice in the matter. I asked them what past due meant. They told me after 13 days!!! My mortgage allows 30 days. The credit bureau reporting system is based on 30 days. The whole world works off 30 days. Past due after 15. Very crafty how the bill is due JUST before most people would pay their bills from their paycheck on the 15th. They charge me 1.5 times my bill for the last 12 months. Now remember, I have only been there for 5 months so rather than judge it on MY last bills which are low, I have to be averaged off of another family. So the deposit was massive. So I tell them (based on principal) that I cannot afford to pay it. So they say they will separate it into 2 payments (how generous). So I make the first payment of 80. Mind you, this is NOT for services rendered. Next month I get my bill in the mail, and like every month, I pay it. Few days later my power gets shut off. I think its a building fuse or from a storm, but as I am walking to the maint office, I see the yellow tag on my meter. So I call APS and say WTF?? They tell me I was shut off for non payment. I quickly log on to my bank and see it was paid and I tell them this. They say, " no, it was for security deposit". I asked them what do I owe on my service. They said nothing. I said, so I got disconnected over an arbitrary deposit when my bill is paid in full? They said yes. They then tell me there is a reconnection fee and if I want it done that day there is 100 rush fee. Now, this is all happening in the morning. I went to the gym and came home within the hour. So you know the service guy was within a mile. I talked to the "manager" and he was " nice enough to cut me a break" and not charge a reconnection fee. So I waited until the next day so I wouldn't have to pay the rush fee, and avoid reconnection. So because it was a cool 115 that day, I had to sleep at my gf's, WITH MY 2 KIDS!!!! The next day all of my food was bad and still cost me over 100 for no reason. APS needs to be stopped and there needs to be regulation. read more

First bill I ever got was for $10 millions dollars, its not a joke. I have a small business that surely did not use that much electricity. I called customer service 3 times to fix this, everyone there is an idiot. So I took the bill to the main office downtown phoenix. Was told by security that I cannot make a payment there, I laughed so hard I cried. I showed them the bill and said I need to speak to someone to clear this matter up and not leaving until I do. Finally a woman called down from her office but would not come down personally and said the problem will be fixed asap. So the next bill came, and now I have a 10 million dollar credit! If I was single, no kids no responsibilities, I would be in Aruba right now! But NO, I took it back down there and showed it to security again. I had about 6 APS employees come and look at bill and laugh or shake their heads but no help. I finally got a hold of Joanne Rodriguez (using name this time), same lady I spoke to before who said she would fix problem and told her about new problem, she again would not come down to lobby and again, said it would be fixed. Well I finally got a bill that was right after 4 attempts. But now I am trying to login to my account and it wont let me because it says the account does not exist, so I put in address of where service is, and again, I DON'T EXIST!!!!! They add random fees to your account and don't explain why, it takes HOURS to get in touch with them on the phone, they don't send your bill and then try to charge you late fees and their automated phone system is a nightmare. Do not move and transfer the service because all they will do is add the new address to the account and still charge you for a place you do not live in. Yesterday we arrived home from a vacation to find out electric power out! The house was just as hot as outdoors. The refrigerators both were out. It was a shock to say the least. Call an electrician (problem solved!). Well not at all, apparently electricians do NOT come out after hours to fix these problems, they all volunteered to come the following day. Not o.k. I called the APS customer service to ask for advice and talked to a wonderful calm lady (Julie). She looked up our neighborhood to find no localized outage. But still wrote out a report. Two hours later (getting dark now) an APS truck pulled into the driveway and a friendly guy asked me what the problem was. Showed him the electric box which he unscrewed and opened to the "guts", fiddled around and reported that "I've found the problem"! Immediately the power came back on! I was giddy with gratitude. Derrick is his name, he's a valuable employee and a night in shining armor. Also would NOT accept any payment or tip at all. What a marvelous end to a awful home coming.
