Really sad that I read so many negative reviews since my experience with Southwest Gas was Great. I called and reported a gas leak coming from the BBQ after we had turned the gas off. I talked to a really nice lady, named Stephanie who sent out a gentleman to check what was going on...he was here less than one hour later. His employee number was R6F2. He repaired the outside connection to the gas meter which was installed improperly. The BBQ will be shut off until someone who he will be referring to us connects the hose from the BBQ to the gas line. read more

They decided that my sliding glass door is not a "Window" so they won't give a rebate on that -- ($91) when it is really a large window. I found this online: Do patio doors qualify for tax credits? I have been a Southwest Gas customer for almost 30 years. Even though I pay the bill on time (have never been 30 days late) they don't process it and then tell me to pay another deposit. Then I pay the deposit and then my next bill shows a credit. Very confusing. And I have told them repeatedly to take my ex-husband's name off of the account. I would not recommend this company, but there really is no alternative if you have gas appliances. read more

So I just moved into a different home and I had to order Southwest Gas. When I called to set up service, I was a little annoyed because I was on hold for almost 30 minutes, but when the customer service agent came on the line, he was so professional and thorough. He was just so careful not to get anything wrong which I really do appreciate. So he scheduled me for service to be turned on the next day. Richard was the service person who came out. I wish all service personnel were as knowledgeable and thorough as he was. I mean, he checked everything. He is a professional and he knows his job. I hope he gets paid well because he deserves it! SW Gas requested entry into my backyard to replace a 12 to 15 foot stretch of pvc piping. The subcontractor they hired to dig up the line was Underground Pipeline Services. Their employees tore up my backyard, broke my water line, and severed my internet cable. Found out about this after returning from work late Friday. Spent the weekend without internet which caused $45 in data overages with my cell provider. After arriving home well after 6 pm on Monday I find a sign at my front door saying my gas has been turned off (I'm prepaid months in advance). Because a Southwest subcontractor turned off my gas I now have to take time off work to have a City of Phoenix inspection (of buried gas lines?) and then get SW back out to turn on my gas. It will be days - possibly weeks - before I can take a hot shower. "F" Southwest Gas! Horrible customer service. read more

Absolutely awful customer service. No problems for 10 years. They get one star because the service is reliable and have had no gas issues to speak of. When I opened account, a security deposit was not required. I had great credit and still have great credit now. Months back, my credit card had changed and I feel behind, since forgot that the acct was linked to a card I no longer had. I made payment and thought I set up autopay. I didn't come to find out. They billed me two more times and sent me a disconnect notice. That got my attention and I quickly paid all charges again. I then received notice that THEY felt it was necessary to bill me a $200 security deposit. I reached out and explained the issue and gave them a resolution. I will setup autopay so they need not worry about the payment any longer but I would not pay any additional deposit if they billed me. They declined and charged anyway and they cannot provide anything to me that I signed or consented to additional deposits. Currently an open BBB complaint with no response from Southwest Gas. Very disappointing how little companies care for the customers. SMH. Update: No response from Southwest Gas on my BBB complaint. Even though I have been with Southwest Gas for over 10 years and have always made payments each month, now if I make a payment one day over the due date they want to now charge a $65.00 security deposit. WHAT? it's not a late fee but a security deposit even though I've been paying perfectly for over 10 years. I waited forever to get a supervisor which then DID take it off but for the past 3 months it keeps ending up on my bill. I have had to call each month for them to look at my notes and remove it again and again. They say its a computer error. This company needs to get their system fixed! Horrible. read more

They're refusing to start my gas because the previous owner never cancelled his service and he has a standing balance, I am being held hostage and they refuse to open an account until I pay for the previous owner mistakes, also refusing to tell us anything regarding the owed amount from previous owner until we start an account so they can trap us. I was told it's my problem and I have to pay the owed fees that aren't even mine or else I wont get gas and they're the only gas company in Arizona.(scummy) They're claiming it's my responsibility to cancel the previous owner service? that does not make sense in the real world, when a person moves out they cancel their own accounts/service, also refusing to tell us anything regarding the owed amount from previous owner. it seems like there is a loop hole here where a person does not have to pay the bills and can just stick it to the next home owner. read more

It's Monday December 23rd. 2 days before Christmas. We had a knock at our door this morning to inform us that our gas is being shut off due to no application. The previous owners stopped service on the 25th of November. We were informed we "had" 30 days to create an account. This means we have two more days to set our account up. Since they don't work Christmas they chose to stop service 2 days early instead of the following morning. We have a house full of kids and family staying with us for the holidays. When we called they said the earliest they can get here is Thursday morning and the man driving away would have to receive a separate work order to come back but he has to allow for "emergency stand by time" in case someone needs him....This company is just another example of injustice towards customers as we are just a number and money to them. Just called SWG to hook up my natural gas grill because I was told by by seller of the grill that SWG has to hook it up, they don't. 2 people at SWG told me that they only hook up dryers?? What is the difference....a gas appliance is a gas appliance?? Only a Monopoly would get away with this kind of service.....they want to bill you for gas but will not hook up the gas appliance that uses the gas. read more

SW Gas is awful - I'd go less than 1 if possible. My gas bill increased 5X from Dec to Jan: $50 in Dec and over $300 in Jan. My entire 12 months of bills in 2023 was about equal to my January 2024 bill!! Customer Service was useless with no explanation of why it would increase so much, but only trying to explain the arithmetic with a THICK accent hard to understand, putting me on hold 4 times and disconnecting me the 4th time. SWGas needs competition!! Running as a monopoly leaves no chance for the customer to get a break. read more

This was my first experience with SW Gas and when I called to start service, the recorded line said there was a 21 minute wait and Mondays were the busiest days to call, but I could leave my number and get a call back. I would certainly rather do THAT than wait on hold! Good job SW Gas! The representative Shanna called me in about 10 minutes and we got the service set up in less than 8 minutes! So far so good! The only complaint I really have is she kept calling me "ma'am" which makes me feel so old!! LOL read more

The worst company I've ever dealt with. If you're buying a home and the house uses southwest gas, do not buy the home. Find another. You'll regret it like I do. I have been using southwest gas since November 2018 and every single month there is an issue. They charge me late fees, dont charge the correct account, my bill varies drastically. It's all a mess. When I call the customer service line to get these issues resolved, the people answering phones have no idea how to help and always have to speak to a manager so you're on the phone for 30 minutes. I'm not sure why all my other automatic payments work just fine and they're the only one with the issue. Again, the worst. read more

Gas was on in the home we just closed on. We called for gas service the day before it was scheduled to be shut off. We set up our account and was told start date would be three days later, but gas would probably be left on since it was already on. Nope! They came and shut it off the day before we moved my 85 year old father in. I called to ask if someone could come to turn it back on as my father was in the home. Nope! 85 year old, veteran father goes 3 days with no stove, no hot water, and no heat... way to go southwest gas... Guess they really need that $35 service charge to turn it back on. Southwest Gas sent us a bill for the month of July 2019 for $4.39. It was a basic charge. Meter reading showed ZERO gas usage. I was forced to waste over thirty minutes to get these incompetent idiots to remove an illegal charge of $4.39!! read more

This gas company should be embarrassed of its employees. They can't get it together. First I called to see if my rental had gas as directed by the rental company I told him the address that I will be renting and they told me it did not have gas. I get to the house and it's gas.. I call back and they said it shows I called and they got the address wrong. Then tell me they can make me appointment for a few days later. Lady comes back on the phone and without confirming to me that she was scheduling it for a different day went ahead and scheduled it. Honestly I didn't care we just needed gas. I have children that need warm showers not ice cold ones. So then they don't show for the appointment.. by this point I'm frustrated! I called them and they said that they never had an appointment but it shows that I called. Meaning the lady did not actually schedule the appointment. Even after calling someone else to confirm it. So now I have to my third day off work to sit and wait for them to probably not show up again! If I had the option to go with another gas company I would 100% do it. read more

Horrible customer service. Gas was supposed to be turned on before a move, but they did not communicate they were unable to start service. Claimed they called, left a voicemail, and note on the door but did not do any of those things. The staff member and supervisor were horribly rude, and charged us for their mistake. They said they could not turn the gas on for five more days, and we would have to pay extra to have it turned on any sooner. It is a shame there is not other companies to use as I do not want to give them my business. Worst customer experience service I've ever had. read more
