Came here to get my safety inspection. Seemed okay to start because there was no line. Luckily I thought to make sure to say not to remove any of their decals from my window because I still needed my DC registration on there. Otherwise I think he would have removed it because the people at the front desk said he usually does. So luckily I ran back there in time. Well I failed the inspection for a small detail. My fault. Got it. But instead of just being like "hey I'm sorry you have to get this fixed," he went through taking all of my info as if all was okay. Then was like "you failed the inspection. You have until this date to get it rechecked." It was delivered with quite a bit of sass and smugness. Just gave me a bad taste in my mouth. When I asked if I could use a mobile coupon or if it had to be printed, the desk kid said, "well I would highly suggest that it be printed... but yeah I can give it to you." Why not just say, "sure! We can take the mobile one!" Well I got the repair done the next day and came back to be rechecked and the only inspection person they have was not there for the day. So I come back the next day. Same front desk kid was there. He just has this smug attitude that comes off very poorly. As I waited, there was some raunchy show on the tv... bad language and intimate scenes. I don't care, but had someone been in there with a kid?! Come on! Seems like businesses in this are don't have to work hard at getting business so they don't need to have good service. Would not recommend this place, ever. The workers are dishonest. I went in for my annual inspection, and they unplugged my reverse lights to fail me. The lights worked before I arrived, and when I took it to a third party auto store to fix, they said someone just unplugged them. Never going back. read more

Tl;dr Don't go here, waste of time and money. Dishonest service and aggravating experience. Issues: --Took 3.5 hours to do a job (routine checkup and oil change) that takes an hour tops. We spent 2.5 hours waiting for an oil filter they should've already had --Kept telling us "almost done" every 30 minutes for the last 2 and a half hours of waiting. --We made an appointment specifying what we needed done, a week ahead. So it should've been easy to get an oil filter for the day of the job (this is also an auto shop's job to have them on hand!). --They charged us for the labor of waiting for parts. That's 2.5 hours of them not doing anything they made us pay for. --Other people arrived after us (with and without appointments) and were done before us. --Covid safety measures were a joke. Only two o the staff wore masks and all other employees would go in and out of the lobby without masks, some would hangout in the lobby and chat with staff at the service counter without masks. Story: We brought our car in for an appointment to get a routine service checkup and an oil change (should take 45 minutes to an hour and some change tops). IT TOOK 3 AND A HALF HOURS TO DO After an hour they called to tell us that the oil change was all that was left (very quick job) and that they would be done in 30 minutes. We came back and waited in the lobby. After an hour of waiting, I asked how long it would be and they told me they were waiting for the filter to be delivered (why tell me you're almost done if you don't have the part yet?). They estimated another 30 minutes of waiting. I asked again after another hour passed and was told the filter should be here soon (this is now 2 hours after they told us the car should be done soon). After over 3 hours of waiting, they finally call us up to pay, and we waited at the counter for 20 minutes. It seemed like a game to see how long they could make us wait without us blowing our lids. The staff who called us up went and dicked around while we were standing there; playing with the radio, talking with another coworker, and just having fun. Finally when they printed the bill, and it showed they charged us labor fees for every hour of work... including the 2 and a half hours of waiting for the oil filter. Did I mention only two of the staff at the counter wore masks? Every other employee going in and out of the garage through the lobby did not wear a mask. One of the guys would frequently come in to chat up his coworkers without a mask on at the counter. Don't say you are taking covid measures seriously if you treat it like a joke. I came because of a discount offered for AAA members. It wasn't worth it at all, and my time was wasted completely. They overcharged me for a job that took way longer than normal to do. I'd rather go to someone known for being expensive like the actual dealership, or anyone else in general, and get a good job done quickly. The price would probably be more fair too. I came here to get a piece fixed to clear my check engine light. They took my car first thing in the morning and had it finished by 2pm for a very reasonable price. I didn't feel jipped by them in the slightest and the service was great. The men there were so kind & helpful and didn't take advantage of a young female like most auto places tend to. I made a apt for a oil change and for a bulb to be looked at and they broke my release for my hood and never told me on site it took them 2 hours and they weren't busy and it was because they broke my release cord one of the mechanics told me who dates a friend of mine I called and asked a question to see if they would mention it and didn't so I did the fact that I still haven't gotten the truth or anything speaks volumes about how they treat women and how they run a BUSINESS I drive almost 40 mins to them because he works there and they didn't even appreciate me enough to tell me they broke the cord I'm not even sure they ever changed the oil but I'm sure they damaged my release cord and lied and it wasn't necessary it's a auto shop they could had been honest and then just fixed it instead they didn't care and they let me go on my way and took my money imagine if I were there sister wife or mother it's disgusting a shop full of dishonest man ! Arlington Autocare was recommended to me by my AAA road assistance technician. The technician had replaced my battery and after the installation, he was unable to close the hood of my car entirely. It wouldn't latch. He then told me that he couldn't fix it and that I had to take it to a shop (which is when he recommended Arlington Autocare, which is an AAA approved shop). The best news is that Bobby helped me, and when he went to take a preliminary look at the hood, he discovered that the AAA technician had left a plastic cap in an area that was blocking the proper closure of the hood. After removing the plastic cap, the hood latched. Within a few minutes he reported this to me, showed me the cap, and sent me on my way. There was no charge for this. Communication was great too, they called to tell me that it's done but I had a problem with one of my wheels (here I thought they were going to pitch some high priced fix). I hit a monster of a pothole, so I felt alignment was screwed up, I didn't realize I dented the wheel too. The employee tells me "No need to do anything now, it's just for your info. Will never patron this business again. When the incident happened, I thought I might be the only one, so I brushed it off. However, I saw that more Yelpers had the same problem as myself, so I felt it necessary to help keep others away. Long story short, came in for an inspection and received a failure because a light bulb was not bright enough. The car had not been touched in years and had passed inspections without fail the previous 7 years. I went to this establishment out of convince only, what a huge mistake. Arlington Autocare was happy to take my money and strip my inspection sticker without notice even though it had 2 months left of validity as I like to get things done early. So essentially I was left with a bill and no sticker. Drove across NoVA to another inspection garage, and spent another couple of bucks to get the inspection done once more. It passed as usual, SHOCKER! The fact that they took my money and sticker (with 2 months validity) without notifying me is extremely telling of what they would be capable of if I ever needed to use another one of their services. Avoid at all costs, do yourself a favor, drive a quarter mile in any direction and go somewhere else. read more

Had a light out on my safety inspection on Saturday (which took over an hour on that visit with just one car in front of me), so I took it home to replace myself. Brought it back to get passed off first thing at opening and should have taken 5 minutes. Sitting here and it's been 30 minutes (and counting) because they blocked me in with an oil truck that they refuse to move. They aren't even apologetic or willing to move the stupid truck so I can go. I have places to be and this was supposed to be fast. Don't come here - there are hundreds of other places to have work done. **Update: Finally able to leave after waiting 40 minutes. No apology, in fact the inspector tried to blame someone else. Amazing service! They were quick and took me as the last customer of the day for a DMV emissions testing. They also noticed my yearly inspection sticker had expired 7 months ago (crap - we don't have these in CA so I always forget) and said they'd get both in and it would only add another 5 minutes to my service time. Waiting area had chairs taped off to ensure social distancing and my car was done in the time promised. I would definitely recommend for any of the state DMV tests or inspections. read more

Two times I have come in with 1 specific issue and left with an additional unrelated issue. The first time I needed a check engine light checked, and left with a brake cable hanger bent out of place. "It looks like you could bend it back easily with a crowbar" they say after looking for 30s to find why my car was making a new noise. This most recent time, I got an oil change. I find today miscellaneous parts on the passenger seat floor. I open the glove box to put them in to investigate later, and the glove box hangs way too far open, and won't close. I've brought my car in a couple times for an emissions check and, most recently, to see if my flat tire could be patched. The shop is easy to find from Wilson Blvd, but the lot is small and there is only one way in/out. Both times, the front desk guys we're very helpful and tried to . For the most recent trip, I arrived on Sunday afternoon. The attendant said it may take two hours until they would have a chance to check my car and complete the job. He called me within an hour and gave me an update on the situation. I appreciated his customer service and that he made an effort to get my car serviced quickly. The management responds quickly to customer complaints and takes action as appropriate. Went to another auto repair shop nearby and they repaired it no issues. Had screws puncture my tire before in the tread spots, always repairable. Strongly recommend avoiding as their primary goal is to take advantage of you. They told me the cost to repair my car was more than the car was worth so I sold them the car and reported the car as sold to the DMV. As this was my first car, I forgot to take the license plates with me, and was not reminded to do so by any of the mechanics but thought this was the end of it. Shortly thereafter I began to receive speeding tickets, red light violations and parking notices showing my car, and then later my license plate on a different car meaning both that the car was useable for a time, and later that they knowingly used the plates to get out of fees for traffic violations, several of which I was required to pay as they would have required court appearances to contest. read more

The service was exceptional and the prices were affordable. Taking your car to the mechanic can sometimes be a burden, like going to the dentist when you know you need a root canal, but not with these guys. These guys are the best. The overall experience was far above my expectations. I needed to get new tires after i ruptured my side wall and was forced to use my spare. If i hadn't gone in when i did i would have failed to realize i needed my inspection. The turn around time was fantastic and the location is superb. This station treated my daughter well. The car was towed there while she is many miles from home with my car Of course she worried that she would be upchaged and treated like an out of stater who was hostage at a repair shop. The price didn't exceed normal limits. They fixed the car on same day and my kid was able to pick it up. The only reason that I didnt give five stars is that running diagnostics and reading the codes are two different things. In NH, any parts dealer will read the codes for free and that is really all that was needed. Being thorough does count though, if that is true. They earned a repeat based on same day service on an out of towner tow job. Im a mechanic here and understand how important reputation can be. That said, I would reccomend Arlington Autocare based on this experience. I have read other reviews here but I believe they provided timely service and recognized the needs of my Daughter and the car. This place is sketch !!! I called on the phone and was given a price for a part. I was also told over the phone they could not install the part. I'm cool with that since Joyce Motors quoted me $20 to do the labor. I came in to pick up said auto part. After being sized up by a sales rep the price for the part increased by $5. The younger rep asked me if I needed the part installed. WTF ?! I was told earlier that they could not install the part. Huh? I guess they figure I am an easy mark since I am a single female with a luxary car. As my car is in the garage I was told my car would require additional work for an additional price!! Freaking shady. I agree to let them install the part as long as they gave my car a look over. I was running late and had kids to pick up. I should have listed to my initiation and ran out. Well what do you know I got home and had the same issue with my car! The part they put in was not installed correctly. I had to go back to Arlington Auto care I go to get my car fixed. My night ruined and I had to shell out additional cash for a sitter. Low and behold after all this they forgot to put back and important piece to my car. Now it will cost me $250 to get my car fixed. Now for another alarming part. While I am waiting for my car again an single older woman comes in. The same sales rep who jacked up the price for my part tried to over charge her $50! Granny wasn't having it, she dropped a name who quoted her the lower price. He still charged her $12 over than what she was quoted. Somehow I needed the same tire plugged twice in one week, only I didn't know it. I whipped Welshie early one morn while he jacked the car up and put on the spare, after we'd already had the tire plugged at Alexandria Exxon (see http://www.yelp.com/biz/alexandria-exxon-alexandria-3). It was flat, so we assumed the plug had failed, as the mechanics at AEX warned us it might because the nail we'd run over was so close to the tire wall. I called Arlington Auto Repair, first and foremost, because they're right next to my office and I could drop the car off and walk from there. I told them I needed a tire, and the guy quoted me $68 for some Uniroyals (FYI Bridgestone high-performance tires are $80+ each at Costco. More expensive, but a way better deal, but it would take them three days to get my size in). Both of those prices are with installation. The guy on the phone was upfront about pricing and said he could have my tires the next day. What delighted me most was they called after I dropped the car off and instead of swindling me and charging me for a tire or two or four (as many mechanic shops are wont to do), they told me they just plugged the tire and that I had run over ANOTHER nail. I was impressed. It wasn't cheap ($30+), but honesty goes a long way with me, especially at a car repair joint. read more

HONEST COMPANY. I've been here on three separate occasions. And while I'll spare you specific details of when went wrong each time with my vehicle, I'll say these guys had their chance to screw me over and they never did. Today I dropped off my car with what I thought was a gazillion problems but they just called me back to let me know they found nothing wrong with my car. On a separate thought - I inquired if they thought I needed new brake pads since it's been a while since mine had been replaced. They said "no" and to bring it back in about about 3K-6K miles and they'll do a recheck. See - they had their chance to make a buck and they didn't. Bottom line is, I think they're honest mechanics and I feel that is something hard to come by these days. They offer a super awesome AAA discount, friendly staff and GREAT hours. They're open late until 8pm most days and even open on Saturday and Sunday. They also offer a free shuttle van, are close to the metro and close to a few bus lines. They also do state safety inspections, no appt necessary. read more

Re: I can't believe that guy hasn't been fired. Dave the inspector exceeded embarrassing and asshole. Staff excuses his behavior stating "he is just old school. Don't worry about it. Trust me you aren't the first complaint." My response, "In this economy with people who would love a job why is someone like that still here getting paid to be an asshole?" Let me preface by saying 1. its a Miata (2 seats) 2. I've been fostering two large dogs who have been in the car for vet visits ongoing for a month. 3. I am using the car to transport things during my housing relocation. Kitchen things, blankets, documents, mail, etc. 4. The car has a lot of stuff from my move in the trunk and has dog hair, a yoga mat, and laptop case in the seat. What happened: I wouldn't have even given one star if not for the staff trying to compensate for the incident at the front. I was instructed to wait with my car in line, so I did. One car was in process of inspection. I saw him remove the vehicle from the garage. Twenty or so minutes later I got out of my car to find out why I was still waiting in my car on a hot day (30 minutes idling with AC necessary?) and found he was just sitting at a desk. The staff had him come over and initiate the process. He didn't apologize for the delay or break between cars (he had returned from lunch where he was when I came by earlier) nor was he in the mentality of kindness. He was grouchy no matter... I returned twenty minutes later. Dave practically growled at me in the presence of customers that my car is disgusting and how I probably have something dead in there and how he wouldn't even drive it. How he hasn't seen anything like that and he could not believe how much junk was in it. I said to him. #1. There is dog hair bc I am fostering two large rescued dogs. #2. I am in the process of moving so yes there is stuff in my trunk (which has been filled emptied and refilled over the course of a week). Dave snaps at me again, I don't care what you're doing but you better clean that car out because I wouldn't drive such a messy car. He goes on to berate me in front of everyone when I said to him, "You have a better suggestion for moving and fostering dogs with a 2 seater Miata? Or do you want to move for me with my car and show me how YOU would do it? You can also pay the movers the extra hours more than it took them to work 5 hours while you're at it since you are complaining about MY car, mister. He leaves the lobby and customers just watch in shock... The manager just laughed it off watching. SMH... And emissions inspector guy still gets paid. Huge a**hole. They asked for my # for my record. I said no thank you I won't be back. Inspection costs the same at Mr. Tire. Go there. You won't even have to wait with your car for half an hour while some man plays solitaire and doesn't notice you waiting. Oh and that star is the $5 off they gave me bc of this guy being a jerk. If not for that I'd say the place doesn't deserve that. If Dave got written up or at the least corrected for embarrassing and mistreating a customer who already has A LOT on her plate and all the alleged others who have complained, I'd probably have give more stars. read more
