The service was atrocious ! I have been a solid patron of this store for years, and I after tonight's experience, I will NOT only come back, but will also not recommend your shop to anyone! Awful awful customer service UPSTAIRS !! If I were the owner I would be ashamed of how my staff was treating a customer! I have regularly spent $400+/a visit, and tonight was treated like I was a huge pain in the ass! This is my first ever yelp review. I just couldn't let this slip by without note. It is despicable how the upstairs staff was behaving. Please note, I am not referring to the staff downstairs. They were helpful and courteous. I would describe my experience tonight as downright hostile! I left feeling like I was just punched in the gut. I hope the gals in the upstairs clothing area take a minute and think about how they would like to be treated when they are the customer. Shameful. Embarrassing. I certainly can find similar goods elsewhere and I will. I'll give my $2-3,000/year to a place that values their patrons! Big mistake. Huge! - end of rant. read more

What is going on? Been going here for years. The prices steadily increased which is a given but lately their prices are no longer even competitive. We used to buy here because it's local and the prices were competitive but something changed. It's no longer a 1-2 dollar difference (which I could justify because it's local) but it's now on average a 7-10 dollar difference. I used to always be allowed to use 2 coupons in one transaction, I was never told this was against store policy. This was a common occurrences and all of a sudden I can't use 2 coupons in one transaction. Not sure what happened but sadly can no longer justify shopping local. So sad to even say this because I loved spending my money here. I have lots of friends and family that do trips special to shop here but I've started to discourage this and not because of any personal experience. Staff is always great. The logistics just don't work anymore. read more

Loved this hardware store for Christmas. Such a treat just to walk through it. Many things I have never seen anywhere else.

When I first walked into the store I was at a loss. I was like a kid in a candy store. I could barely walk past the first isle then I went back for the shopping cart. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone was willing to help me find something I needed. How much stuff do they have? So much that each row is narrow to navigate. I'm already talking to friends to come with me to go shopping again. The prices were extremely reasonable and this made it easier for my cart to fill. Going shopping again soon. read more

Used to enjoy shopping there until I found out they were bigoted against LGBTQ people. They've always been overpriced but in the spirit of shopping locally, I was okay with that. Not anymore. They shut down their store and even blocked their parking lot during Arlington's Pride event this last Saturday so that no one could park there, something they do not normally do when the store is closed. I see from the latest reviews that people are finding what I have found recently, which is the service end of the business has gone into the toilet. I find the customer treatment to be appalling. Some service people, particularly in lumber and the Stihl shop weren't wearing masks, and seemed to be interested in chit chatting instead of helping customers. NO PROBLEM though, I have Amazon Prime, so I gave them the money instead of spending locally. I don't want to be judgmental, but what I find about Arlington Hardware is, if you're an old timer townie, you get service. If you aren't someone who was raised here you get the cold shoulder. Some of these service people treat you like it's a "hobby job" to them. Frustratingly difficult to "shop local" when you get this kind of treatment. I've found this in other Arlington businesses as well. I find the treatment by local business in other regional communities to be far superior. Examples include: Snohomish, LaConner, Burlington, etc. If Arlington want's to be taken seriously as a destination small town, they'll need to do a much better job. More specifically, the small town friendliness factor is very low. read more

First Timer: I made my first visit a week after Christmas to exchange a gift for another size. First the two employees on the home goods side thought they should converse for 3 minutes vs acknowledge a customer in front of them. Once they shewed me upstairs for my exchange a young person folding pointed me in the right direction. I had a tough time finding men's clothing that wasn't size 2X. I'm not sure if they were wiped out or what, but they didn't have much for size options. When it was my turn at the sales counter, my item had the ACE sales sticker on it (a AH logo item) but I didn't have a gift receipt. Boy, I was put on a mini trial and then given the silent treatment until I paid the difference and completed our disturbing transaction. Another cold shoulder or two from some downstairs employees while looking around and I was good. Last time: Cool store and vibe, just not the hometown ACE hospitality I'm used to at my local store. The employees upstairs are wonderful... The staff when you walk through the front door always have a conversation going with one another about personal topics & never once have I been greeted or attended to. On Saturday April 29th my husband & I went shopping before dinner around 4:30. Three ladies were behind the front counter chatting it up & let's just say the conversation wasn't appropriate for the atmosphere. I never feel welcome by the home goods staff. These folks are known in the community as a small town company that has everything. I was looking for something I couldn't find anywhere. Even Amazon. Anyway, I made the drive to Arlilngton from my home in Marysvile. I was pleasantly impressed with signs making it clear that masks were required. I also appreciated the table with sanitation station's equipment. Soon, my being impressed was about to change. Several people were proudly shopping with no face protection and no social distancing. No Arlilngton Hardware personnel said a word to them. I quickly got out without even trying to find the item I was looking for. If you're looking for a store that gives lip service to state law and doesn't care about their neighbors. This is your place. I'm going back to Amazon where I don't have to endanger my welfare. read more

I love this hardware store. Have been coming here for years for everything from fertilizer to a shovel to getting a key made to buying furnace filters. you name it they likely have it if it's hardware store related. There's just something really old school and all American about walking through an old hardware store that's been around for years hearing that Oakwood flooring creek beneath your feet and all the associated smells of a real hardware store. Unlike the big box stores where you get lost on the inside and are endlessly searching for someone to help you, Arlington hardware oasis plenty of staff on hand easy to fine that are more than willing to assist you. I especially like the fact that if I want nuts and bolts or screws or something like that I can buy one of them five of them or 23 of them. At the big box stores you are forced to buy a package of 50 or 100 even if you only need one or two. read more

This place is a "must" visit if you are visiting Arlington. Allow at least an hour. My favorite part was walking on the uneven floors (this is an old Building that has been around for more than 100 years ?) and they creak! Very charming!! They have so many things to look at in addition to hardware. Love the upstairs clothing section. So many nice things in many price ranges.. a lot of good bargains to be found as well as high quality gotta have it at whatever price type items. Very friendly and helpful staff. Probably once of the nicest I have ever experienced. I will definitely need to bring the husband/go back again!!! read more

I received a sweatshirt for Christmas from this store. Unfortunately, it was the wrong size, so I went to exchange it. They told me I couldn't because it was a custom order. Ironically, there were several other sweatshirts exactly like the one I was trying to return being sold on the shelves at that time - didn't matter - it had a sticker that said it was custom. I asked to speak to a manager but there were none there at the time so they took my information down to call me back. A week later and still no call. I called back and got ahold of the manager, but she told me there is no exception to this policy. So now I am stuck with a gift that I have no use for and can't return or exchange it. read more

We have used Arlington Hardware on several occasions for hard-to-find items, specifically for my husband's ice hockey equipment. Each time he walks out mad and swearing never to return. The employees are rude (especially the gals at the front desk) humorless, and snappish. Their prices are high and for the gas we spend, we will order online. (P.S. The young women upstairs are friendly and outgoing. They can ignore this bad review.) read more

I like the convenience of this store! I have stopped in a couple times when I have needed canning supplies. At first their selection was great but like every where else they were bought out. Prices are high so don't expect a deal. They have a cute little housewares area when you walk in. Help was descent. Stock was badly in need of reordering. Helpful in a pinch. read more

An old time Hardware store feel! Very Eclectic. Something for everyone. We walked down the street to Arlington hardware store and talk about a neat place, It has a lot of rustic charm, with that old time feel, Even the old wood floors that squeak when you walk on them! Free popcorn too. They have Seed packets 4 for $1. A lot of neat stuff to look at. The store is clean and neat. They not only do they have hardware things, but they have clothing up stairs and Knickknacks, Old time sodas and candy and they have Mason jars and country decor. read more

We went to AH today to take advantage of the Super Saturday. The Arlington Christmas parade and fair were going too. We didn't know about the festivities though. We were able to find a good parking place. We headed on in and I immediately noticed very few people had masks on. Yes it's against the supreme dictator Governor's bs mandate. I say Bravo. Thank you for exercising your right to not be harassed by the state. There were some with masks (including us) but I wasn't terrified by unmasked people like so many of the one star reviewers were. It's a personal choice and should not be mandated in this free country of ours. There was a good sized crowd upstairs in the clothing section and what I could find to buy wasn't in my size. Oh well. That store has it all and it's fun to go in. The staff is friendly and courteous and receptive to questions etc. I saw a few things I might go back to get on a less crowded day. read more

I've shopped at this store since 1974. I had a business at the airport always pleased with with the comunity feeling it had. I don't know what is happening there but having just come off a bout with COVID I didn't see one employee with a mask when in the store. There is state mandate that masks are mandatory inside. My two kids and I came in for a visit since we were in the area and the lady on the floor didn't welcome us nor acknowledge our being there until she rudely approached my 7 year old little girl about "not touching" the stuffed animals- we were mortified by this and the lack of care we received - we will NOT EVER being going back!! read more

Noticed in some other reviews a couple things I need to voice my thoughts. one was an anti LGBTQ bias at AH. Sorry you experienced that, but I suspect it wasn't the store - It's Arlington after all. A community with older community values. I also saw a comment on price. My first trip there, I expected the same. But my first trip and all subsequent trips (many), I find the opposite to be true. I find the prices reasonable, and comparable to other places I'd go. And the bonus is I get genuine old fashioned service every tim. For real. In hardware or paint, or any department, there is a guy/gal I can walk up to, tell them what I'm in need of, and seconds later it's in my hands. I'd pay for that service, but don't feel I do. read more

I've been shopping AH for 20+ years and recently went in to get a part for my outside faucet. It took over 15 minutes to get assistance which was great when I did finally get the help. What I noted was on a busy Saturday, one other person in the entire store wore a mask ( another customer). The design of the store makes it literally impossible to social distance. Not one single employee wore a mask. I prefer shopping locally so will find another local hardware store to spend my money. read more

A friend of mine is from Arlington, and has told us stories and shown us pictures of Arlington Hardware and its excellent taxidermy. I finally got a chance to go and check it out myself on a weekend trip and was not disappointed! It's sort of like a mom-and-pop version of Cabela's, right down to the taxidermy displays. This is a very large store, but you don't get the full sense of it until you've walked through a few of the rooms and/or gone upstairs. When you walk in, the front area is a surprisingly cute little gift shoppe, with soaps and lotions, decorative signs, and other housewares, very much in the mason-jars-and-shabby-chic style. After that, though, it rolls up its sleeves and turns into a full-on hardware store, with everything from fishing gear to crab traps and bulk seeds and nuts. There was a popcorn machine that seemed very popular -- just about everyone was wandering around with (free?) paper cones of popcorn. Upstairs, there's a large selection of men's and women's clothing and accessories. I was surprised again to see a corner display of pretty cute gemstone necklaces and jewelry, the kind of thing you'd see on Etsy, along with more fancy goat milk soaps and lotions. The clothing tends toward either outdoorsy working gear or rhinestone-embellished cool mom clothes, but definitely check out the jewelry -- and the mountain lion taxidermy over the stairs. The taxidermy! This store is FULL of it and it's great. From the owls and raptors in the front to the impressively large deer and bison heads in the back rooms to the more whimsical displays (like a coyote head wearing sunglasses and sombrero), there's a lot to admire. They also have some antique chainsaws in the front room, so don't forget to look up and check those out. I really did want to buy something there, if only in appreciation of all the cool stuff they have to look at. But the truth is, as a renter and non-handy-person, there's not much at a hardware store that I need. However, if you're a homeowner, gardener, fisherman, or camper, this store is a real treasure and it's totally worth a visit to check out this one-of-a-kind place. read more

I had heard wonderful things about Arlington Hardware. Myself and two friends decided to take a day trip to Arlington with the highlight of shopping at this store. We brought our children along, so we could see what items they may like and make sure they fit properly. Unfortunately, we let the kids enter the store first, while we held the door. The kids were greeted with a "No! Out!" They paused and looked at us. I asked them what was wrong and then saw a woman yelling "Nope, not with out your parents, out!" My friends and I entered and said "Is there a problem, we're the parents?"The woman then said "Ok" and glared as we walked in. The kids were loud, but didn't touch or harm anything. We continued to look around and had other employees politely ask if we needed help. One friend bought a few sweatshirts, and then we left. We exited the same door we entered with the same woman at the counter. She didn't look at us or even say thank you or apologize . It was a terrible first impression and left a bad taste for all of us. I refused to purchase anything and my friend took her items back. I emailed to log a complain, but never got a response. Won't recommend this store to anyone, especially with kids. Being kind goes a long way with paying costumers. read more

The whole family can go here and enjoy some time shopping for their different needs. Very kind people that work there. A great hardware store! We found everything on our construction list today and we scored a 20% discount as it was Senior Wednesday. Thought I'd mention that we priced the post caps at Home Depot today and they were almost a dollar cheaper at Arlington Hardware and we actually got helped by a human being....there was no one to be found to advise us at Home Depot. Probably my favorite thing is the wonderful old floors in the main store. A little creaky and so beautiful! read more

Today I went to Arlington Hardware to pick up a few things. While there I noticed that most of the employees and many customers were not wearing face masks. I chose an employee to check out my things based upon the fact that she was the only one wearing a face mask. I asked one of the unmasked employees why they were not wearing face masks. She told me that "they don't have to." I told her that according to the State of Washington it is a requirement for employees in retail to wear a face mask. In the future I will go else where to spend my money. read more

I live far south, mukilteo. Bought my son pants for Xmas they didn't fit, brought up in Jan to exchange. New size didn't fit. Between work, kids, life, I am finally making it back up here. Mind you I wasn't wanting my money back, I shopped for other items. Got to counter with receipt and TAGS ALL ATTACHED. And explained to her. Nope it says 30 days. Tried to explain again. Nope 30 days and actually we are changing it to 15. Very very rude with no customer service skills. Put my sweatshirt and hat back and will never shop here again!! read more
