The lunch special here is a great deal! It is offered between 11am and 4pm! Came here as a group of four and each got a lunch special with half a Peruvian chicken, fries, a fresh avocado salad, and a drink. Service was good. Our waitress was very friendly and approachable. Tables were clean and pre-set and had a paper on it rather than placemats. (Not super sustainable, but clean) It wasn't super busy here on a week night, but it wasn't quiet either. We were able to get seats immediately and there was no shortage of service here. I had leftovers from my lunch that I was able to bring home with even more green sauce to go! The green sauce here is delicious and spicy! The salad was very fresh. The chicken was yummy, but a little bit dry.

Chicken was still slightly pink..?

My partner and I came here yesterday because I've been coming here for months on my own and I wanted to show him Peruvian cuisine since he'd never been. It was busy and I understood. We ordered a whole chicken to share, with large white rice, small beans and a large order of fried cassava & tostones. The girl comes out with the chicken and beans but puts it at the wrong table. When she comes to us and asks if we ordered/received our food she realizes she gave our chicken and beans to the wrong table. We watched her as she went back to the table and noticed that the table had already picked at our chicken, she apologized to them and the worst part is she thought it was okay to give us the food that that table had already breathed and picked on. Extremely inappropriate. I understand things happen when it gets busy. But to think it's remotely okay to give someone who's also paying money to eat there what felt like scraps at that point, hell no. Another girl came and retook our order and still had the nerve to ask why we sent back the chicken that was already picked on from another table. Food eventually came and it was ok. Beans lacked so much flavor, rice was a bit mushy and the chicken we had gotten seemed undercooked and just overly soft when you bit into it. I'm not one to salt my food if I don't need it but I found myself having to salt my food so many times because of how it lacked flavor. Not appetizing at all. The only things that were tolerable were the sauce with the yucca which even then seemed slightly cold. I really wanted to support this business since it seems family owned, Latino etc and I'd been coming for a while now and never had an issue till now. Don't think I'll be back...should've just gone to my childhood restaurant, Mi Casa which is a few blocks down by 115. Way better, even if it is a Dominican restaurant. I was disappointed because it was my bf's first time there and I wanted him to like it, but he was just being nice lol

Flavorful! The chicken is always moist! They also give great servings of food. I always order the half or whole chicken with rice & beans. I also order the salsa Criollla. It's vinegar based with onions and cilantro! Adds a great kick. The prices are reasonable, and again, you get a lot for your money. This is my favorite Peruvian restaurant! The staff are courteous and very efficient. The restaurant has great space for individuals that want to sit and dine. It's also very clean and upkept. The downfall for me, is that delivery takes quite a bit of time.

This is a fairly good restaurant that deserves all stars. Come in on a Saturday afternoon. Nice bright windows in the front with plenty of nice light going into the tables. Location was pretty good by the train but came in by car because was raining. Ordered the chunks of beef with onions tomatoes French fries mixed together. On the side I got beans and a drink. The food was great and plenty. Very yummy. Simple restaurant for your daily and casual dining. This isn't a luxurious place but for its category deserves all of the ratings for the great thing I came in here for: good food with a reasonable price. And because it exceeded my expectations this is a 5 star restaurant.

I've been getting food from here for a while it's usaulltv amazing but it has gotten worse over time !! It Usually takes forever for the food to arrive or they send a really nice older man that gets lost. Today was terrible and I think the last time I'll order here my rice arrived to my house the container was crushed soft and wet due to the steam from the food. They nice enough to replace the rice but they need to reconsider different to go containers going forward.

When we arrived, there were only two groups ahead of us, and the manager appeared to be handling seating. As time passed, it became clear that my party should have been next. Instead, another group walked in after us, and I watched as a table was cleaned and prepared for five people. I approached the manager to confirm whether we were being seated next. He acknowledged that I was right, admitted he remembered speaking with me earlier, but said the table was for five people. Despite that, he still seated the other party before us. By this point, our wait was well over 20 minutes. I even confirmed that the other group did not have a reservation--which would have been the only explanation that made sense. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and this kind of oversight completely ruins the experience. It's the simple things that matter. To make matters worse, yet another party walked in and was seated immediately. At that point, it felt intentional. Rather than assume the worst, I chose to leave. I will not be returning.

A few minutes later a waiter took our order. We got papa huancaina, yuca fries, lomo salteado and sugar free inca cola. Everything was delicious and not spicy at all. I've had the papa huancaina at family functions and it's always spicy so being able to try this version was refreshing. The ambiance was very plain as there weren't many Inca decor. Nor any photos of Peru. The restaurant looked clean as were the restrooms. There's metered parking.

I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.

We stopped in for an early Saturday dinner and were surprised to find the place completely empty…read more It felt like a hidden gem, especially given its years of Michelin recommendations. We shared the ceviche mixto, arroz con mariscos, and a dulce de leche dessert with tulle and cookies. The appetizer and entrée were excellent; the ceviche mixto was incredibly fresh, and the seafood in the arroz was perfectly cooked, with rice that was well-seasoned and flavorful. Unfortunately, the ice cream in the dessert was grainy, as if it had been sitting too long. This could have easily been a five-star experience. I wouldn't have held the dessert against them, but the service fell short. When we arrived, the server was on her phone and minimally attentive. Communication was a bit difficult, especially when asking about desserts which weren't on the menu. We had moved a candle from another table because it was so dark, and although she noticed, she didn't offer assistance. After dropping off our food, she didn't check on us at all and remained up front on her phone. She did inform us ahead of time that the credit card machine wasn't working, so payment would need to be cash or Zelle, which was fine. However, when we paid in cash, she didn't return with change, we had to ask for it, and she then disappeared to the back to retrieve it. The whole process was awkward. That said, the entrée was so good that I'd consider coming back to try more dishes...hopefully with better service next time.
