Ok... not bad. Decent neighborhood spot on a corner with about 10 tables that can be separated to create more for smaller groups. I brought my family, including my developmentally disabled brother. He's not just challenged intellectually, but his personality is a challenge for everyone around him. The decor here is pretty cute, nicely done. One thing I want happy about though, is the noise level. I could hardly hear my family talk over the music and the muddled sound of everyone else in the place talking at the same time. The staff and service were good regarding my brother (and step mom who can also be annoying as hell)... full disclosure: with the two of them, we're a pretty high-maintenance group. I like their salad dressing and the chicken. My wife liked the fried shrimp, but agrees with my daughter that the Peruvian green sauce here is not one of the best we've tried (and we've tried many)... too spicy and kind of low on flavor. Fried rice was OK... but the maduros were dry (check my photo). My step mom returned the fried calamari saying it was too salty. We waited almost a half hour for her Tamale, and in the end, it was too spicy for her taste. The wife was happy that they had Michelada and sangria here. Dessert was pretty good too. Food was great , but service was terrible our waiter had such a disgust face of greeting , maybe tired or annoyed but as customers we have no fault we were excited to try a different place coming from New Jersey and it was just a place I wouldn't recommend for dine in at that she had dropped one cup of ice picked it up from the tray she was bringing them in and laughed , if tip wasn't a mandatory thing nowadays she wouldn't have deserved the 20% that was included. We live right around the corner and have been going there for years since they opened. We are their original customers. But guess what? We will think twice before going there now since the last time we went in April 2025. We never dined in there, only takeout pick up. The last and final pickup there, we notice they added a 15% without our consent on our credit card bill. That's unacceptable. Even if the food is divine and considered on par with nectar of the gods, an establishment should not auto charge tip without customer consent. I am giving up Pio Pio for a long time. I found this Peruvian Restaurant in my neighborhood, i got their aji sauce the other day to try it out, i loved it. The place seemed very clean, wanted to try it out for dinner. Staff is very attentive, SMILING!, prompt service. Loved all of the food. Chicken is fresh and juicy, nicely seasoned. Beans had great flavor. Don't care about the fried rice, if they have any gonna order regular rice. Plantains, avocado salad, seafood ceviche, salchipapas were also delicious! My family and I have been coming to the restaurant for many years. As of recent, the service has depleted, there is one specific male manager that works there that has no people skill or customer service, when asked for help or for additional utensils, his body language seems to be as though we are placing a burden on him and he just walks away (has happened multiple times. During our last couple of visits, the bathroom was dirty and the dining experience was anything but pleasant. After coming here for so many years due to this manager's constant rude and unprofessional behavior my family and I would not be going back to this restaurant. read more

Food is spectacular! The chicken always rocks, the seafood platter (JALEA) is a dream to see and to eat. The secret hidden gem. Here is the whitefish and the pickle onions. Everything else on the platter is delicious! The CHAUFA rice is well seasoned and flavorful! Not to mention how good the fried plantains are (crunchy). But the most important thing on the entire table is the green sauce. You could put that stuff on a shoe and I would eat it. It is absolutely spectacular! Service is hit or miss. My mother was craving this spot for Mother's Day, so Ofc, her wish is my command. I ordered my food at 4:52 pm, total came out to $158 so we paid for it over the phone, ahead of time. I call back at 5pm to ask the lady how long? She stated 20 MIN. I decided since it's Mother's Day, let me give them a little more time. I showed up at 5:40. It was extremely packed inside the restaurant, I go up to ask about my food, and they tell me one minute.. at 6pm I asked the gentlemen to please give me a realistic wait time on how much longer they need because I ordered my food over an hour ago, he said about 10 minutes. I left, came back at 6:15, they still did not have my food ready, they handed me my food around 6:30. This is completely unacceptable, they need to be HONEST with their customers about the wait time so we aren't led on to false expectations as they completely wasted my time. If you need two hours, just say that, I'll show up two hours later to pick up my food, you nor I will be pissed and we can move on. Worst part, they had walk ins that showed up, ordered and paid on the spot, and EVERYONE left before me. I was stuck watching people coming in and out and those people were mad also, imagine me. I heard them answering phones, taking orders telling people the SAME exact wait time, that isn't honest nor strategic. After almost two hours, I finally get my food and the worker just says sorry for the wait... that's it, no form of courtesy for the almost 2 hour wait, I was patient the entire time but I was getting so pissed, you don't do that with someone else's time on Mother's Day. This is the best spot around for Peruvian or any Latin American food! We've been going here every now and then for years, and we're never disappointed. The #2 Rotisserie chicken combo gets you one entire roast rotisserie chicken (extremely flavorful and moist), salchipapas (french fries and hot dog slices), delicious, rich fried plantains, and a fresh tasty avocado and tomato salad, and a plate of fluffy yellow rice. The creamy green hot sauce is a perfect addition. We also had the tres leches for dessert, which was quite good and nicely plated with some raspberry glaze. The table service is always friendly and attentive, and the decor is really clean and tasteful, with beautiful Andean prints on the wall. So disappointed. They used to be one of my favorite spots. Much closer than Pio pio and just as good. Not even close anymore. Last time ordered for pickup of a full chicken combo the rice barely filled the container. It was hard and felt old. They gave me even less tostones. They were cold and mushy. Again, felt as though they gave me what was left before they closed. Lastly, the waitresses there could not be less rude. I've never felt so unwelcome. I am not Latin and I speak very little Spanish but I do try my best. Last handful of times I've eaten there or taken out they made me feel as though my money was no good and I was inconveniencing them. I'm done wasting my time and money here. We found another good roasted chicken resturant !!! The chicken was nice n juicy the skin was nice & crispy !!! No need for any sauce !! The salad was fresh & delish !! ( a lil small ) for the family plan so I ate the entire salad myself !!! The fries with sliced hot dogs off the chain !!! The fried rice also very good .. The beans, can't forget them ..... one of the best bean dishes I've ever had very tasty compliments their rice perfectly !!!! Also loved our crispy fried plantains!!! The food was pretty good, ordered the combo with rice, salad and sweet plantains. Chicken is always a solid choice here. But, we usually go to the Jackson Heights location. And, after this visit, we'll stick to Jax Hgts from now on. Main issue was we arrived at 10pm, they close at 11pm. But we were so rushed out that it was rude!! The waitresses were standing over us, watching us and started sweeping under our table at 10:45. Then then stacked all the chairs on all the other tables around us. We had to grab rest of our food to go....since it was apparent we couldn't stay to finish. As we left, the entire staff walked out of the restaurant at 11:05!! I mean, usually restaurants close and staff doesn't leave for at least another 30-40 mins. If they want to be out of the place completely...they should not seat anyone after 9:45 to be out by 11!! I was excited to try something new last week and ended up choosing this restaurant. The reviews didn't lie, this place does get packed. I entered the place around 7pm with only two tables empty. My sister and I walk up to the bar and ask if there was seating available and the woman replied no to come back later. Again, we clearly see two tables open so we asked her again and point to the tables. She says we can sit in the back because the table in the front is too big for two and continues working. This should have been a sign for me to walk away but we decided to stay. (FYI another two guest arrive and with no questions ask they were seated in the table "too big for two"). I was hoping the gentleman who came over to clean our table and give us menus would be our server but the woman who told us there was no seating was our waitress. Though the restuarant is crowded I could understand the wait time but the waitress didn't move from behind the bar for such a long time even the customers who sat next to us already had drinks and their order taken by the gentleman who gave us menus. Let me just fast forward to the fact that I ordered a second glass of water and 20 minutes pass with no refill. I'm not even sure where the waitress was. Not to mention they were suppose to bring us something to the table as an appetizer and being that she forgot another table whose been there longer than us, she gave it to them. In my opinion the food taste good however, we were served chicken with the head still on it. I did not order the chicken so I did not notice until we took the chicken home and i seen a wing. Then the neck. Then I picked up the head. In the mist of a very difficult week filled with upsets and disappoints I came to this local Peruvian café for their praised red Sangria by previous Yelpers. This cafe is very accessible by the A train (88th Street and walk two blocks) or Q8 bus on 101st Avenue. I found it in Ozone Park, Queens! One red Sangria $7.00 was undeniable strong as I was somewhat tipsy by the time I hit the bottom of the glass. Customer service is attentive. No comment on food or facility. The jalea was good but i would next time ask for the dressing that is used for salad to be put in the jalea. Jalea is the seafood platter. The green sauce is good. They have a really well priced "lunch" special (it may be an all day special) (a $20 combo and a $25 combo...we ordered both and the serving sizes were well worth it...we had a lot of food left over and fed 6 people with these two combos). Chicken was very fresh, moist, and tasty (and I am not a fan of chicken). Maduros were delicious, yellow rice was fine and the French fries were your run of the mill "diner style" fries. The salad was very fresh and plentiful, but the dressing totally tasted like cheap bottled salad dressing (which ruined the freshness of the salad) (what does it take to make a fresh house made dressing...I mean really, come on). Service was okay, the waiter never came back to check on us or to refill our water. I would definitely come back to try some other items on the menu if I am back in the neighborhood...but would not travel all the way to Ozone Park to eat here.
