I've been a wine club member at quite a few of the SC Mountain Wineries, and Armitage wine, the tasting room, and the crew are all just a bit above the rest. Brandon is an amazingly talented winemaker, Sara, Beth, Kelly are always so gracious and fun. They remember your name, they take the time to explain the wine to you. They sponsor the Tiny Winery Concerts that are so much more fun and intimate than the big name winery concerts over the hill. The wine, the people, and the respect they show for both the art of winemaking, and the people who support them leave little else to be desired. Do go to the tasting room and become familiar with this local gem. You will be glad you did. Did I mention they have THE BEST Pinot? Yah, that too. read more

Cute little wine bar / tasting room that has some great wines. Santa Cruz Mountains is one of the top Pinot Noir producing regions in Cali and Armitage is definitely one of the top producers even if one of the smallest ones. Simply beautiful wine. Tasting room is cute, small and inviting. Art on the walls is rite up my alley and resembles the art on the Wine labels. Sarah was our sommelier, she was rite up our alley. Down to earth, kind, and attentive. I tried The Estate Flight, every wine was satisfactory but the one that stood out the most is The Pinot Noir Estate, so yummy, has warmth, sweetness, with just the rite amount of tannins. This is a wonderful intimate tasting room with really good wines....yes their Pinot's are known for their quality, but I've had good Chards, Merlots and Cab's there....so it is clearly more than a one trick pony! It's located in somewhat of a shopping center/strip mall - but it's a lot cuter than it seems. I came here on a Saturday midday and were the only ones there. It's a smaller tasting room but there's a nice amount of indoor seating and they also have a small outdoor area. We got Great service, but were the only people there. I noticed they did have some board games available. If you have the Santa Cruz Mountain Wineries passport you can use it for your tasting. The tasting included a white, a rose and a few different reds so you got a mixture. The wines were good but not amazing so I thought that they were maybe a little pricey for my taste. But everyone has different tastebuds! They also do pours by the glass. read more

Armitage specializes in Pinot Noirs and boy are they good. We arrived with our Passports in hand shortly after opening time on Saturday afternoon and were greeted by a very friendly person. We sat outside to enjoy the sun and the wines were brought out and explained to us one by one. I had no idea different Pinot Noirs could taste that different! The price point ($40-$50) was slightly higher than what I wanted to pay that day and we ended up not purchasing but Armitage is really worth a visit if you happen to be in Aptos. read more

That's a first- I had gone here a couple weeks back and had such a good experience I went to Yelp it (yup! That's an official verb!) and it wasn't listed yet. Don't think I've ever added a business but a first time for everything I guess. Where was I...oh, right...so I was invited by a friend to go to this wine tasting and art viewing event there a couple weeks ago. I am from Sonoma County and I definitely get my fill of wine tasting but I went along because it was where my friend was going that night and we hadn't had a chance to hang out in a long time. The tasting room is very nice- really classy, clean, nicely decorated and open. The art they were featuring was gorgeous...all fabulous but THE WINE! Ok, so my home is smack dab in the middle of a major Pinot Noir hub of northern California so plenty of the varietal makes its way to my dinner table. Having said that, this Pinot was phenomenal! I tasted (ok- by the end of the event wasn't so much "tasting" as it was just drinking!) through everything they had and ended up purchasing several bottles to bring home with me (no intention of doing that but it was just. too. good.) In the end, I guess it was refreshing to be pleasantly surprised by new wines. Now when my friend comes to visit me up north I'm going to politely request the wine comes, too! Wine tasting at its finest for Santa Cruz County! Everything about Armitage Wines is high quality. Jeanie is absolutely lovely and knowledgeable about the wine. There are four wines I believe, and each one of them are off the charts. The price point is perfect for me. This is so nice for us to have a true tasting room right here in Aptos. I rented out Armitage about four months ago and invited about 50 people for no good reason what so ever. I just wanted to introduce some of my friends to this amazing little business. I just opened the wine from Armitage and I think it is the best tasting wine I have ever experienced. I am 57 years old and I think I just fell in love with my first wine. Being the cynic that I am, I am wondering if it's because I had the awesome experience of a vineyard tour hosted by Brandon who nicely answered all of our questions and even showed my daughter the way a vintner tastes wine. I am not sure. Does making one feel connected to the source improve the quality of the experience? Hmmm...I will just settle for being extremely happy right now. Sip. Sip. Sip. read more

Stopped by on a whim, needed an escape from visiting family. What a pleasure to find a lovely tasting room, with a warm and friendly hostess. Sorry, did not get her name. The Chardonnay is nicely balanced with pineapple notes, I wanted a bit more oak, but that is more my style. The two Pinots were the hit of the day. The Santa Cruz Mountain pinot is full bodied and juicy, so it came home for a Thanksgiving dinner soon. I would recommend this place if you love Pinot's like I do. read more

Great tasting room experience. Jeannie was wonderful. She provided lots of excellent information in a non-pushy way. The wines were excellent. Very different style for Santa Cruz mountain wines, but also very good - reminded me of Russian River Pinot. Anyone who enjoys experimenting with different wine styles should check this place out. The tasting room is also a really lovely space. Great to know that they are also open till 7:00 for glasses of wine. read more

I am officially obsessed with this place! I went on a Saturday afternoon and they were featuring paintings by an incredible artist- Ben Rush- and the atmosphere was perfect. Everyone was so friendly and personable, and the environment was such that someone flying solo, as I was, could easily find someone to chat with. Brandon and Jeannie were perfect tasting hosts, full of information and simply wonderful to chat with. Jeannie was great in that she'd introduce me to others with a tidbit to foster conversation- this is a sign of an amazing host/hostess!!! And the WINE! I couldn't resist, I bought a bottle of every pinot Brandon was tasting because they were all delicious. This place is top-notch and definitely worth a visit. You won't regret it. read more

Incredibly friendly pourers who welcome you like family. Armitage solely pours Pinots, including a Rose of Pinot, so it's fun to horizontally taste from the various vineyards. Cheese, chocolate and cracker offerings accompany the wines. This is an Aptos gem. read more

Wine is overpriced. The tasting room opened 30 minutes late on a Saturday and the woman behind the counter lied when I asked why. She said she was in the back room, but I could see her through the front windows while I waited for her to open. Very unprofessional. read more
