First time at Swanton Farms, second time strawberry picking. The farm is very rustic, It was cold and we were not prepared. Thankful for their store. We grabbed a couple sweatshirts and headed out to pick berries. The raised beds were a welcomed sight. A lot easier on our backs. We picked almost 6 lbs. of berries. Before leaving we bought a Marion berry pie, and loaded up with a slice of strawberry cheesecake, strawberry shortcake and strawberry pecan scones. We will be back next year.

It's definitely a bit of a trek to get here from San Francisco, but totally worth it! I was in Pescadero for some Halloween festivities and made sure Swanton Berry Farm was one of our stops. I was shocked (in the best way) to see they were still offering U-pick strawberries this late in the season! We didn't have enough time to pick our own, but I couldn't resist grabbing a basket from their farm stand and wow. These strawberries always taste like pure sunshine. Sadly, they were out of pumpkin pie so I went for the strawberry shortcake instead. Pro tip: if you're smart, you'll grab one of each dessert and share. After a weird exchange with the guy behind the counter who asked me if I sew? .... He mentioned my clothes look like something his grandma made from patterns back in the day, I completed my transaction and joined my group at the large picnic tables to enjoy my treats. Charming, delicious, and always worth the drive... Swanton never disappoints!

My family has come here for many years! It's the perfect spot to stop along Highway 1 and get a sweet treat, specifically the shortcake! The shortcake itself is very well-made and so dense. And eating the fresh berries and cream with it is so yummy! The shortcakes range from $10-$12 but....they're local, fresh, and very yummy! Bring your friends and family and enjoy shortcake with an ocean view!

All companies should treat their workers this way :-)

"Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?" J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) I love strawberries...by far the best fruit. The strawberries here are phenomenal. As is the jam and the strawberry shortcake. I didn't pick mine, maybe in the future. This is a unionized farm that gives its workers a living wage and health benefits. Support such businesses! Highly recommended!!

This review is only for the marionberry pie, which I was fortunate enough to have been gifted. Wowowow this was the best pie I ever ate, and I didn't even like pies before (with the exception of pumpkin pie). Filling was juicy and slightly tart. Berries were vibrant and fresh. Crust was buttery and reminded me of a cookie. I will be visiting the farm in person when I can to pick some marionberries myself.

They offer some of the most delicious pies I've tried. The boysenberry is my personal favorite. Perfectly balanced and full of flavor. The strawberry shortcake is also enjoyable. However, the bread does become a bit soggy from the strawberries. The pumpkin pie leans slightly heavy on the spices, though the whipped cream complements it nicely. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be returning to try more items. Pies: 8.5/10 Service: 7.5/10

A must visit while cruising down Highway 1 in Davenport! Aside from u-pick strawberries, they have a variety of jams and pastries/other treats available for purchase. It's always fun to see what different items they have. There's usually pies and cobblers, and this last time they even had truffles. My mom and I both loved the truffles and will be keeping an eye out for those when we stop in from now on. You're able to taste the jams, all of which are absolutely delicious - so picking just one to take home can be a tough decision. I can't even pick a favorite because each is so great.

Came here to pick strawberries with some friends. We brought our own containers from home, but you can also pay for boxes there. We went through a few aisles and found lots of red strawberries! Santa Cruz was very chilly, even during the summer, so it was a bearable temperature while we were in the field. On our way out, we paid $8 per pound. The worker here was super friendly. We were intending to bake something with the strawberries, but they were so sweet, we just ended up eating them plain. They had a gift shop where we got Marion berry cobbler. I loved the whipped cream on this. They also had jams, a strawberry shortcake, chocolate covered strawberries, fresh strawberries, and other goodies. The inside of the shop is super cute. There was also an outdoor area with tables and games for kids. This was my first time fruit picking, and I had a blast! I would definitely recommend coming here!

went here for my friends june birthday! super great setup with strawberry picking lanes for you to frolick and pick strawberries! $8/pound at the end. Entry is Free into field. strawberries vary on sweetness depending on ripeness. first time strawberry picking and it was an amazing day!! will def return next strawberry season

My U Pick strawberries are in the plastic Tupperware. The others were on sale in the store.

First and foremost, the strawberries were very small, kind of sour and there were not very many of them. The strawberry patch is a 5 minute walk from the parking lot, and it's not very big. The store was also selling strawberries, but if you look at my picture, you can see that they are even smaller and more dried out. This is for $8/pound strawberries! Just go to the farmer's market to get much better strawberries without coming all the way out to Swanton. Service was kind of indifferent and store was kind of run down. Blue House Farm a few miles north is a more pleasant experience with better berries ...

You have to stop at Swanton's Berry Farm if you're driving along the PCH. It was totally spontaneous but turned out to be one of my favorite spots. Two words: Marionberry Pie Two more words: Strawberry Shortcake And don't forget about the Marionberry Cobbler, Strawberry Cheescake, and more. A berry-loving, sweet tooth dream. We decided to go pick some fresh strawberries as well. It was such a fun way to stretch our legs and enjoy some local goodies.

Very fun and great experience picking! You get a box from them and you pick your own strawberries for $8 per pound. They accept cash and apple pay. If you don't wanna pick your strawberries, they also very good strawberries they sell in the shop for $5 per pound. All organic and very sweet

I wish I can eat that Mom =D

Can't believe I've been coming around here for beach days & I've never known / heard about this place . I was craving some dessert & looked around the area to see what they had. Came across the Swanton Berry Farm . Upon walking into the establishment , they had a good selection of desserts . There was pumpkin pie , strawberry cheesecake , and Marionberry cobbler. I decided to get the Marionbwrry cobbler. I loved the fact that the dessert was super light and I loved the berry flavor. I also like the cake and the whipped cream mixture. It tasted heavenly . Going to com back again for the strawberry shortcake next time .

Taste the difference of organic farming practices plus ethical people practices - so sweet!

I wanted to stop off at the popular Pie Ranch before heading more south. We arrived at the pie farm stand on a Sunday afternoon recently. Pie Ranch is located in a nice road side area along the coast on Hwy 1 close to Davenport. Parking is limited in the small dirt parking lot out front. The pie farm stand looks like a rustic wooden barn from the outside and a state park visitor center in the inside. There was an outdoor small library for kids by the entrance which I thought was a nice touch. It's a free take one leave one book stand. There was a farmer's market vibe inside with local vegetables, fruit, baked goods, and locally produced pantry items for sale. Pie Ranch branded gifts and merchandise were on display as well. We ordered 2 strawberry streusel cutie pies, 1 lemon buttermilk blueberry cutie pie, 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 frozen strawberry streusel whole pie, and 1 lemon better milk blueberry whole pie. All of the cutie pies were delicious. The cutie pie size was about right since we were sharing everything. The chocolate chip cookie was moist and gooey with loads of chocolate. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pie Ranch. The staff were nice and helpful. There was a back patio with a few picnic tables that looked inviting. We enjoyed our food out there. The environment was family friendly. The price point was more in the high end but I understand due to location and everything was fresh, locally produced. I was happy to finally visit but I'm not sure when I will be back again.

"Rest and relaxation"? "Root beer and rum"? Maybe we will never know. Let's get the easy stuff out of the way:: Ambience: you wouldn't even know the places there if you don't have a map leading you there or a referral from a local unfortunately. Not sure why they don't have a sign out. Service is a little irrelevant since there is simply a person behind the counter checking you out. Now onto the product: there really is only one offering that is hard to pass these guys by for if you're in Pascadero area: R&R offer a cup of peanut for $4 that is magically delicious and snackable. did President Jimmy Carter have peanuts this delicious from his peanut farm? I submit that he did not? Pro tip: Do not have them around if you feel an oncoming snack attack. You'll possibly consume the entire cup o' vegan legumes which brings me to an interesting factoid: did you know that a peanut is neither a pea nor a nut? It is indeed a legume. The peanut is more like one of those hideous lentils then delicious pea or a delicious nut. Why!? This seems so unnecessary. I wouldn't be surprised to find That President Jimmy Carter President Obama somehow Secretly teamed up to rename and re-categorize what is clearly a nut into a legume. This is much the way the President Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of Mara Lago or whatever it was. A little personal story about R&R: it was the case that when I moved away from the central coast I found myself trying to replicate these tastey legumes By cooking peanuts in the oven at my new home which is 6300 feet above sea level. Many calculations must be made to adjust For cooking at that altitude versus at sea I think I have come close To replicating them but still no dice. I cannot get quite the coverage of salty goodness to adhere to the Redskins the way they have. This is my main struggle in life right now I have been trying to replicate this spicy peanut extravaganza and not really getting very close. Still worth it to just buy it here.
