At the top of the stairs, a woman who I believe is named Brittany Y. began following closely behind them on the staircase, which felt unnecessary and made an already difficult situation more stressful. Once downstairs, I handed a cash tip directly to the gentleman. At that point, Brittany took the money from his hand and immediately asked me if I had more to give. When I said "excuse me," she responded, "Not trying to be tacky, but can you give him more money?" I declined. Instead of leaving it there, she remained outside harassing me while my husband and I secured the mirror and continued to ask us for more money. During this time, she told me that "this is her business, and the employee only makes $15 an hour and she doesn't have insurance for them to move things". This was uncomfortable and inappropriate. Discussing an employee's wages and internal policies with a customer-- and especially asking for more money--is highly unprofessional. I did apologize just to end the interaction, but the situation should never have escalated this way. I was willing to tip for help, but being pressured repeatedly and having the money taken from the employee was unacceptable. While I appreciate the help from the gentleman, this experience left a very negative impression. If employees are not supposed to assist with moving items, Brittany could have said something before they started down the stairs.
