Great selection... we came here the last couple times within the last week to get some roses. A couple of them that we looked up online, were not available, and it was nice that they can try to order it . And they did and i picked it up the other day and they were a great bunch... healthy with some beautiful blooms! We will be returning Neil Diamond as it looked like it has developed a fungus. Armstrong helped with our small yard, and recommended a company to install a watering system. I don't understand how that system works, andI have made many attempts to contact the sprinkler installer. Armstrong said they will contact but nobody has called. I just want a primer or lesson on how this works and whether or not it is flexible for annuals, etc.with no help. No response. read more

I love this location. They have a lot of good houseplants here (which was a surprise to me). And it's very helpful it's set up by light needs of the house plants. Outdoor section seems good too, but I'm an indoor plant girlie. Plants are all in very good shape and doing well! Growing new leaves now and thriving. Hopefully I can keep them that way. The employees are very nice and helpful, I remember talking to Lou about roses with my boyfriend, and Lou was helpful and nice. Can't remember any other names but I just enjoy this location and the employees. A lot of nurseries have awful parking situations but there's tons of parking out front. read more

Giovanni is the best of the best! My 4th trumpeter rose tree died. After speaking with Giovanni, he ordered a replacement and said that it would take about a week to arrive. I received a phone call from him just after a few days that it came in already. Upon arrival, my order has been completed and ready to go. I couldn't say anything but great stuff about Giovanni. I usually go to Walter Anderson in Poway. But since I was in the area, I stopped by to see what Armstrong has. I wasn't really looking for anything. My garden is full and really couldn't take any more. But I can always use more indoor plants. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of indoor plants. I love how it's divided into light requirements. Also there are different sizes for the same type of plants so you can decide how big of a plant you want. But what really impressed me was the knowledge of the staff working there. I've been having trouble with my prayer plant. Jjust on a whim asked one of the staff how to prevent brown edges. She knew exactly what I was talking about and had great advice. I ended up taking home 3 plants. And to make things even better, on my way out, I saw a fridge with complementary water. We had wonderful customer service from Liz at the Rancho Penasquitos Armstrong Garden Center! I had spent hours on my own trying to pick out landscape plants for a new pot to no avail. I had so many questions, such as: which plants need full sun, watering amounts, any or seasonal color & placement. Liz covered it all! I bought some strawberry plants from home depot and some nice lady told me to go to Armstrong instead and I regret not taking her advice because not only was it cheaper at Armstrong but they were indeed much healthier and better quality. They have a decent variety of vegetables and flowers. Some stuff are priced cheaper or competitive to Home Depot/Lowes. The staff are very nice and very friendly and helpful. Only drawback is their limited amount of soil options and mulch. But for plants, vegetable, fruits, it's decent selection. read more

He was knowledgeable and helpful, and I left there with some new plants I'm really excited about. He also identified a tree that if left unattended would have cracked my patio. I killed the plants I bought here in February, mainly because we were neglecting the plants when we moved on top of a whole home remodeling project afterwards. Needless to say, the plants got ignored and died :(. We brought back the dead plants which were two trees and seven shrubs. We got store credit and got some Rosemary, flowering shrubs, and two Azalea trees (which apparently need acid soil) with potting soils, pumice stone, fertilizer, and organic bug spray. We got really good tips to properly care for our new plants - which will be my new goal for 2022! They advised to have us come back of any signs of the plants dying so we can revive them again. Customer service is great because the plants have a lifetime guarantee and they have many plant experts on hand. Dylan helped us during this visit and we gave us multiple tips with keeping our plants healthy and thriving. To me, it's worth the price because of the lifetime guarantee. read more

Two years ago I went into Armstrong to purchase fruit vines to cover an enclosed chicken coop. I asked for recommendations and the employee said passion fruit vines would be great for my yards conditions. My family and I were excited to plant them and watch them grow. We couldn't wait to pick our own passion fruit. For years it got full sun and watered religiously. It never grew any passion fruit so with Armstrongs suggestion we purchased expensive fertilizers to help the vines produce fruit. Today I went to Armstrong and asked about passion fruit vines and the employee told me there are vines that do not produce passion fruit. What?!? I asked him to check our account and sure enough, the vines that we purchased 2 years ago are non-fruit producing vines! We are beyond disappointed! We spent so much time, energy and money on fertilizers in hopes of growing passion fruit that inevitably would never happen. The vines have engulfed our chicken coop so it is far too late to remove them. We are beyond disappointed with the employees at Armstrong. We went there trusting their answers and suggestions. We will never shop at Armstrong again as we do not trust their ability or knowledge. Beware if you go to Armstrong asking for recommendations. Unfortunately the employees are not well educated with their products. read more

It's sad that I just wanted to buy a Plant, no specific plants, just a nice looking one, I saw a young Vermillionair, and picked it up to pay for it. The sad part is that a bad employee drove me out of the store, with his bas attitude. This review is both a complaint and suggestion on business retention. I have spent a lot of money at this location. Among other things I buy our Christmas tree here every year. Armstrong pitches their tree stand and subsequent $10 credit if returned. Today I took it back and was abruptly told "this has to be returned by January now I just have to throw it away!" It wasn't about the $10 that's no big deal, it was the belligerent attitude; I had planned on shopping but this behavior made me leave, as I was NOT TOLD THIS IN DECEMBER. When I told him this, no comment, just silence. I am the GM of a multi million dollar company. To advertise and retain customers is very costly. I gladly give customers free services or credit even if they are wrong to retain business and make many sales in the long run. Ignorant employee and practice by Armstrong today!! read more

This Armstrong location has the absolute worst customer service on the planet! The staff is disorganized and their checkout system sucks. You wait in endless lines, only to have another customer cut in front of you and the staff encourages this behavior! They play favorites with the store 'regulars'. Bought 2 healthy 6 in pot Calatheas 14.99 each. Four inch polka dot plant 4.99. One money tree 8.99. Not sure when they receive shipments but they had many choices on a Wednesday for indoor plants. Plenty of pothos choices and more indoor choices for 6in or larger. Beware it's a busy parking lot but they do have posted spaces in front of the main entrance. read more

The staff has always been extremely helpful. I had two planters I needed to get plants, one full sun one partial shade. Not knowing anything other then the ones they have in the sun must be ok for the full sun planter. Nope I decided to ask and although I'm so sorry I can't remember her name she was incredibly helpful. I picked up all the plants I needed and so far even with this May Grey they are doing Great!!
