Some of the kindest owners I've ever met at a nursery! Not only do they greet you upon arrival (unless they are helping someone else), but then they also offer help with your questions regarding the plants. So many plants to choose from, and they offer them in different size pots. I spotted several that I was looking for, including a large plumbago shrub, olive trees, and a large Japanese Honeysuckle vine. They have several varieties of lavender, as well, that were lovely. It is worth mentioning the plant prices are some of the best I have seen when compared to other nurseries and garden centers. As others have mentioned, they accept cash or Venmo only. It is an easy find from the freeway, located in a quiet residential area, which makes it a peaceful walk around the site. One of the only drawbacks I had was the plants weren't labeled with their plant species name or the price, but that is easily resolved by asking one of the owners for more information. Lastly, they have a small farm stand near the front, which sells oranges, avocados and other citrus. (Operated separately from the nursery.) Will definitely be back to this great find! read more

The urge to gatekeep Sunsol Nursery is real BUT the product is amazing, prices are fantastic and the people that run it are incredible, helpful and so hard working. Very easy to get to and right off the freeway, Sunsol has everything you need to landscape. I've purchased everything from fire sticks, protea, feather grasses, deer grass, bougainvillea, ground cover .. you name it. I am endlessly grateful for the people who work here and run the nursery as there is not a single plant they do not know inside and out. Every plant I've gotten from them has flourished and been extremely healthy. 10/10 would recommend. Few things to keep in mind: - cash only - there are no prices listed so don't be shy! You'll have to ask them for pricing and names of most plants but they're extremely fair and helpful - great for all landscaping needs but note you will not find a lot of cacti here - be nice and patient. I have been to dozens and dozens of nurseries over the years, and have never been treated this way. We are looking for a specific tree. Via text we confirmed they had one. We confirmed the size. We confirmed the price. And they agreed to hold the tree for us. Within 18 hours of the texts, we showed up to discover they didn't have any such tree. They offered us a different tree instead. We refused. We spent 3 hours driving (round trip) to get nothing! I feel bad for the sole nursery worker who tried to help, but he didn't cause the problem. So called he someone, who only apologized and suggested I get a different tree that they had in stock. Again, we declined - we made the trip for the tree confirmed in the text. This was a waist of 1/2 a day of time and 3 hours of gas, especially since we confirmed everything. read more

Hidden gem in Escondido. I have been looking for milkweed all over the town to feed my 50+ caterpillars. Some nursery didn't have the wide leaf I was looking for. Some nursery had the wide leaf but the leaves are turning yellow. I am so glad that I found Sunsol Nursery. They have plenty stock which are in good shape. And their price is almost half the price than the other ones I got somewhere else. I wish I discovered them earlier. read more

I purchased over 40 15-gal Privet shrubs, 13 5-gal Muhly grass, numerous trays of ground cover and succulents from Celia. I wanted drought tolerant, easy to grow plants and she had many suggestions for me, along with how to plant it. Everything she recommended is growing beautifully with no shock at all! Buying plants from her was easy and fun. We're not done yet, we still need another 20 trays of ground cover, so I'll be back every few weeks until our project is done. Amazing experience! This hidden gem is literally a block away from my home and the local farm stand. The nursery is well loved, decent sized and the plants are happy! The owners Celia and her husband are very respectful and professional they speak English and Spanish. They greeted us and asked us if we need any assistance or if we were looking for any specific plant or tree. They were so polite let my family walk around and feel welcomed. We are barely getting our toes wet with plants and trees so we wanted to small small with plants that are easier to keep alive. We want to buy about 10-20 plants for our home but want to learn more about trees, and plants and how to care for them. Today we started with 5 small plants for the home that require 50% sunlight and 50% shade. They explained the difference in the types of plants and how to water them. The owners were just wonderful, pleasant and kind-hearted. As a Christian I hope God continues blessing this hard working family! They work hard, have great polite service and fair pricing!!! The prices were much more affordable than Home Depot, Lowe's, target or any other local nursery we went to and the plants were so beautiful! I wish I could fit all of the trees and palms beautiful extravagant ones they have in my yard! We have a small condo and small yard but we are going to fill it with their greenery! I got lost on my way to the North County Fair Mall and noticed this nursery for its neatly arranged pots of healthy-looking greenery. Aside from the terrific prices ($3.50 for 1 gallon plants; $10-15 for 5 gallon), Celia and her husband Ramiro were super friendly and helpful. Most importantly, they keep their plants outside, meaning the plants are already acclimated to the outdoors. Most plants are commercially grown in the shelter of indoor greenhouses for fastest time to maturity. These plants are accustomed to indoor lighting, temperature and humidity, and often go into shock when first introduced to the Great Outdoors. Sunsol's plants sit out in the real San Diego sun, so they won't go into shock the moment you introduce them to your backyard. They helped me load 3 large ficus trees ($12 each) into my car and reminded me to repot by providing 3 heavy-duty pots ($2 each). So far, my new ficus trees are doing quite well on my uncovered patio. read more

A small sized nursery which stocks a little bit of everything. They have fruit trees, ornamental trees, flowers, bushes, vines, and some plants I don't even know. Selection changes a little bit every time I visit them. GREAT prices, I bought a banana palm with lots of little suckers ($12) and 3 bushes/vines $3.50 each. The plants they sell are huge compared to those at the Home Depot (about half as expensive). They are supposed to be expanding soon, so I hope they will bring in more novelty plants. Overall, it's a very nice nursery to visit to pick a couple of plants for your backyard or as a gift for someone who likes digging in the dirt. read more

We went to Sunsol on the recommendation of a family member, and had a great experience. I bought two large Haas avocado trees at a phenomenal price. I also picked up some nice perennials and ground covers. Ramiro was very helpful and knowledgable. I too appreciated that the plants are housed outside in real conditions, and don't mind the simple layout. I'd rather get good prices for good plants than pay for a lot of frou-frou overhead.
