For anyone considering Moon Valley for your backyard landscaping project, you can feel 100% confident in the quality and service provided by Moon Valley and the team. My wife and I did a major overall of our yard and scrapped the entire thing to start over with a new pool, hardscape, and landscaping. Moon helped us plan and coordinate all planting to create a truly private and serene backyard. We choose oversized hedges and olive trees to give our yard a beautiful walled garden / french villa feel and offer tons of privacy. The installation was not easy, and the Moon team did a fantastic job constantly checking in to ensure that our every goal and placement was met with our planting. Danny, our PM and lead installer, was one of the best trades we have had the pleasure of working with. He was professional, kind, always happy, smiling while breaking his back, and constantly being a "YES" man. Whatever we wanted, he said that he would make it happen. If we ran into an issue, he would say no worries, here is how we will handle this... and he would knock it out. I can't rave enough about the experience we have had with Moon, and I am confident in saying that no other nursery would have been able to deliver on our project as they did with their incredible install team. We have dozens of very tall hedges and 5 Olive trees weighing 2000+ pounds. Danny and his team of installers are machines and hand-installed all of these in very tight sections of the yard. The install crew worked full hours (that rarely happens these days) and cleaned our job site each evening (spotless, including hosing down the driveway and street where there was dirt.) I just wanted to share the great service that I received from the folks at Moon Valley Nursery in Carmel Valley. Upon my first arrival, I was intercepted on my way to the office by a friendly service staff named Daniel, who asked me a few questions. After finding out that I was looking for a shade tree, I was suddenly being driven around the expansive grounds, to look at various sizes of the two trees I had researched, in addition to a recommendation by Daniel. After taking some notes, I assured him that I would be back, after discussing the plans with my wife and making a final decision on tree size and type. I consulted with Daniel a couple times in the following weeks, and requested pictures of an African Fern Pine as that became my tree of choice, which he sent me. The trip back to the Nursery to make the purchase, was quick and efficient- I knew the type of tree I wanted, I just needed to settle on size and price. We settled on a 48 Spec, and I thought the price was fair, considering that planting was included. Within two weeks, the tree was delivered and planted. The planting crew were professional and courteous, and even cut and capped a sprinkler line that happened to be right where I wanted the tree, allowing us to maintain our desired planting spot and worry about rerouting the sprinkler line in the future. Chad M. was also very professional and responsive, in coordinating the actual work of planting, and calling Dig-Alert to prevent conflicts with underground utilities. We just visited Moon Valley Nursery and had an amazing experience. Right when we pulled up, Ken walked up and introduced himself. We only had a certain amount of time, so it was just perfect that he was there, and ready to help us. We explained to him that we were looking for some plants for the front of our house and we showed him some pictures of the empty area. He asked us if we had a certain budget, and if there are any plants we had in mind. We told him we liked blue agave, and he took us to where those plants were. We walked around and discussed an idea of alternating the agave with another plant to add some contrast and not have the cost too high. He showed us various options, he carried the blue agave to different styled plants to see which ones would look good next to the agave plant. He was SO accommodating!!! We finally figured it all out, bought 7 plants (doing 4 agave and 3 of the other in between). Our front area is going to look amazing and we are so excited. Ken was personable, knowledgeable, creative, and genuine. We are for sure going to come back for another part of our project, and have Ken help us. We are also going to recommend Ken to our friends who are re-landscaping their yard too. What a great experience!!! read more

My experience with Moon Valley Nursery was extremely disappointing, primarily because of their refund process. I placed an order for trees in May 2026, clearly explaining my intended planting location and purpose. However, after further research, I canceled the order out of concern that the plants they recommended were not suitable for my needs. Moon Valley Nursery agreed to refund my payment, but the process was handled with frustrating delays and poor communication. I had to follow up multiple times, and each time I was told the manager would call me--yet I never received a single callback. Even after reaching out to their corporate headquarters, the local manager still never contacted me. After three weeks of repeated follow-ups, my refund had still not been processed. This level of disregard for customers is beyond pathetic. While the sales process was straightforward, the post-cancellation refund experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I strongly advise other customers to be cautious about paying upfront, independently verify the suitability of any plants, and insist on written refund commitments before proceeding. read more

Fantastic place, and honestly the beat customer service I've had in years. I called Moon Valley Nursery in Carmel Valley and a friendly and knowledgeable young woman named Kayla answered my questions. I asked her if she would be there later in the day and she said she would. As soon as I arrived she showed me where to park and picked me up in a golf cart type thing and drove me straight to the area of the nursery with the trees I was looking for. she helped me choose nice specimens of each type and answered all the questions I had. Then we drove to another section to find the other types of trees and when they weren't in stock she called Geronimo who manages the regional Moon Valley nurseries and they arranged to have the trees I wanted delivered to the site. Afterwards I paid for the trees and scheduled delivery and voila, I was in and out in about an hour. Kayla even threw in a bottle of Moon Juice for the replanting of the trees to my yard. Moon Valley Nursery in Carmel Valley is the best! We wanted a lemon tree and they had a huge selection of sizes and varieties. Sebastian took us all around the property, showed us so many trees and told us all about the differences. We took our time to select the best tree for us, never felt rushed or pressured. We also selected the perfect vining plants for our front planters and entryway. I am definitely going back the next time I want to plants because everything there looked so healthy. George and the crew who delivered and planted our lemon tree and two large star jasmines were wonderful-- Professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They did a great job with the planting, and George fully explained the care instructions and answered all my questions. Today, Christian Frese, an Arborist and Manager of Moon Valley's entire MVP Pro Care Program came from the Carmel Valley Moon Valley Nursery location to take care of our plants. Extremely poor customer service. The cashier booth was empty, except 2 people talking to each other right next to me. One of them kept saying that he will give a good deal to the other person, speaking like he's a used-car dealer. Ended up, it's the cashier spending 5+ minutes "selling" to this customer. After that conversation, he finally have time to come to the cashier booth, but he said he cannot scan the tag, he asked me to get on to his gold cart. I said he can follow my car instead. I drove and then in middle of the way, he DISAPPEARED and DROVE OFF. What kind of SERIVCE IS THIS?!? If this is not a used-car dealer feel, I don't know what this is.
