This is probably my favorite restaurant in Moon Township. We have been going to Armstrong's many years now, and I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed! Tonight, I had the "meatball casserole," which was fettuccine noodles, meatballs, and mozzarella cheese baked deep dish style. As my side, I chose their homemade wedding soup. I had so much food I ended up taking half of it home! Their wedding soup is to die for!! It had homemade meatball and tender chicken in it! Their meatball casserole was delicious as well- you can tell they use fresh ingredients! My fiancé got the French dip sandwich with gravy and he devoured it, so needless to say he was more than pleased with his choice! We were stuffed at the end, but still ended up ordering a slice of banana chocolate pie to take home... and it was AMAZING! It was a banana cream pie with fresh chunks of banana and a fudge swirl! Usually, we order takeout, which isn't a bad option either! When we order takeout, we usually stick with the chicken sandwiches, which (unsurprisingly) are huge and delicious! Unfortunately as many other reviews have stated the prices have sky rocketed compared to other local restaurants. We really used to enjoy this place and did take out once a week. After the last time of ordering our same order and the bill climbing probably 40% that has been the last time we have came here. I wish they'd lower their prices closer to other competitions. It's quite unfortunate what inflation has done to brands that had good portions for a good price. Now I'm afraid there is no value for me to come back. read more

Since I was unable to find a menu online that was updated within the last 5 years, I stopped in to get one to go. The staff member working told me that they were out, but that I could take pictures of the current one. I also mentioned that there's no web presence, to which she said "yeah idk." So, okay. Thought I'd help someone else out and post the menu pics here. The dining room is closed for renovations so no in-house dining is available for now. Ordered the penne and vodka sauce with chicken, a tortilla soup, and penne Alfredo to go. We got home and had received fettuccini Alfredo which was really heavy and very bland, same with the penne vodka. The chicken had that chicken-y taste where you could be on the fence about whether it needed to go in the trash yesterday. The chocolate mousse pie was good, the raspberry cream wasn't. By recommendation of the Hilton Garden Inn my friends and I enjoyed a very good meal at Anderson's. At the door we were greeted with smiles and friendly welcoming. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with the appetizer and meal suggestions. I got a salad with salmon that was served just the way I like it. Plenty of food at a very good price. Everything here comes in big portion. Food was too salty and some dishes were just overloaded with cheese so they were a bit too heavy. There was no wow factors in term of flavor. Waitress was rude. She spilled the soup everywhere on the dish so it came out nasty and unappetizing. She came over too many times and it made the dining environment very awkward and uncomfortable. I've been to Armstrong's multiple times. Usually for a sit down meal (BYOB which is great as well and no cork fee). This review would be for a take-out order during the pandemic. I had called earlier in the day and asked if I could do pickup at a specific time which they accomplished. Systems were in place to maintain social distancing and have an efficient take out. I had the penne ala vodka with chicken. There is easily enough pasta for two meals with this. It is very tasty. I enjoy the wedding soup that accompanies it. My oldest son raves about the baked ziti. My wife had the linguini with clam sauce, and my youngest had the pasta from the kids meal. Three of us had leftovers for the next day. The bread was wrapped per person which was nice and fresh. We also had dessert. My wife and I split a slice of some type of chocolate pie which also was very good. Overall for dine in or takeout you will consistently have a quality meal at Armstrong's with leftovers for the next day. About once a year I make it to Armstrong's. Arranged take out for an impromptu dinner party at home. The wedding soup is still some of the best ever. Crab stuffed mushrooms and sausage stuffed peppers were both excellent. Had the salad with meats, cheeses, artichokes, red peppers, etc. it was huge and oh so good. We all loved it. Entrees were hit and miss. The Alfredo sauce was good but a bit too much on the fettuccini. Eggplant parm was as good as normal (my fave!). Chicken Roman was juicy and moist with a great flavor. Sausage bake was OK. Overall, we all enjoyed dinner. There was so much food, a side salad, 3 soups and 2 pasta sides were left for lunch today. Salad and pasta were fine. The soup was potato cheese. Nice restaurant close to many business parks. The proximity makes it good for business but also means that there can be a bit of a wait-- so get there early to beat the lunch rush. I went with a group of three for a business lunch and among the three of us we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, chicken parmigiana and a chicken and bacon sandwich. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. They said the pickup time would be about twenty minutes and I got there before the suggested time and my food was still almost cold. The burger had pretty much no flavor, the onion rings were barely breaded and were soggy. I had pretty high hopes for this place as the burger and onion rings were $20. Wife and I were in Pittsburg looking for a house. Got in later than expected and went to hotel to check in and then decided to go to a restaurant near by. Armstrongs had great Yelp reviews and was bitterly down the street from the hotel. The place was moved and the hostess told us there was a 30 minute wait. That was disappointing for the wait but we stayed as we were starving. Turned out to be about 15-20 minutes and we were seated. The waitress was super friendly and a real bubbly personality. I had the chicken parm with salad and french fries. The chicken farm was delicious and the fries were very good as well. If in the area definitely worth a stop. If you're looking for good pittsburghese Italian and quality diner-esque type of place then Armstrong's is for you. We stopped after church last Sunday with a very large group and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered everything from calzones and pasta, to wings and salad. The food (that comes in super large quantities by the way) was yummy and our fast. My only qualm was that my salad had a TON of cheese, but hey maybe that'll be your thing? Just don't expect diner pricing - two adult meals and one kids cane to around $42 but the quantities were big enough to feed four or five people. Came here for the first time for dinner. We were a group of 6. Hubby and I ordered their fried provolone appetizer, hubby ordered their buffalo chicken calzone, and I ordered their stuffed shrimp with crab meat and asked for their side of a baked potato and Italian wedding soup. What's hot - Portions. With the exception of my shrimp, their portions are pretty large. The good thing is their portions are close to family size and can be split among multiple people, which is nice. - Menu variety. There appears to be something for everyone, veggies, sandwiches, pastas, sandwiches, burgers, etc... which is nice. Be aware they don't have vegan friendly food, though, which is difficult to find in Italian restaurants. I bring this up, because one of our group couldn't order any pasta like dishes because of her gluten allergy. - Quality. Their food is good, but I've had better. My stuffed shrimp was good, but the crab flavor didn't really come through, which was disappointing. One of our group ordered their stuffed banana peppers appetizer, which I tried. There was a bit of a spicy kick, which was nice. It's difficult to find restaurants that really do have spicy foods, so this was nice. Again, not bad, but I've had better. What's not - Price. My stuffed shrimp was around $21, which came with a choice of 2 sides. The reason why I ordered it is because it came with 2 sides. Their dishes don't generally come with sides; you have to pay extra. Although their portions are pretty big, that's all you're paying for. I'm the diner that likes to have options with my meal. For hubby and myself- one appetizer and 2 meals came out to $50 (including tip). - Service. First, they don't take reservations. You can call in a table about 1hr before you arrive, but that's it. Additionally, once I did call in, it took us about an additional 30mins to get seated. Our table service was pretty lackluster. It was difficult to get the attention of the waitresses and it took us multiple times for us to get what we needed, like refills on our drinks, an additional side of salad dressing, whatever. For example, I had to remind our waitress to bring me my side of Italian wedding soup. - Layout. I don't recommend coming here with more than a group of 6. They don't have the capacity for it, like round tables. They can push a few tables together, but that's it, which makes it difficult to have conversations. Armstrong's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Pittsburgh. They have two locations- one in the South Hills and one in Moon. Since the Moon location is closer to where I live - we go there more often. We stopped for lunch with the whole family after we went to our Christmas tree this year - we planned to get there right at 12pm on Sunday when they opened. It was the perfect plan - avoided waiting for table. For starters- we ordered the mozzarella sticks and zucchini appetizers. Both appetizers were very delicious! I also ordered a bowl of wedding soup with my entree. It was almost as good as my mom's. For my entree, I ordered the chicken parmigiana with a side of penn pasta. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. It's some of the best chicken parmigiana I've ever had. I will definitely be back to Armstrong's again soon. read more

Two coworkers and I came here for dinner on a Thursday in January while on a business trip in Moon Township. The receptionist at the office we were working at recommended the restaurant as a place to get a nice dinner, and it was pretty close to our hotel. There was a cold snap going at the time, and the day we dined here the restaurant's heating system had gone down so it was chilly inside. However, it was tolerable since they were trying to keep the place warm with space heaters and all the customers just kept their coats on. The menu featured both typical Italian fare and Pittsburgh-style dishes such as salads with fries on them. One of my coworkers and I each ordered the penne alla vodka, while my other coworker got the buffalo chicken salad. The portion sizes were comically large, even by Coraopolis standards. My coworker and I could easily have shared just 1 order of the penne alla vodka and the salad was covered in huge pieces of chicken and bread. Definitely good value for money if you're able to take leftovers home. Despite being stuffed after our mains, we decided to get dessert since it was our last night in the area that week. Having learned our lesson from the entrées, we decided to just share 1 slice of pie. The waitress recommended the chocolate peanut butter pie, which was really delicious and light and fluffy. It really melted in your mouth. The staff and the ambiance were welcoming. The place was reasonably busy for a weeknight, but not heaving with customers. I've heard about Armstrong's for so long and finally tried it this past weekend for a girls night and it lived up to the hype! From the outside this place doesn't look like much, but when we arrived it was already completely packed. We had call ahead seating but still waited a little over a half hour to be sat at our table. Our waitress was extremely friendly and we kicked off the evening with a bottle of wine since it's BYOB which I love - saves a lot of money! I ordered the penne a la vodka with shrimp.....there are no words. One of the best pasta dishes I've had in the entire city! I tried this place today for the first time based on a friends recommendation, it was absolutely delicious! I got the chicken Parmesan sandwich and it came with french fries, the sandwich was absolutely fresh and crispy, could've used more sauce. We love Armstrong's. Coming from a really Italian family so when we want to go out and enjoy great pasta dishes, we go to Armstrong's. The portions are huge for the modest prices. They have an expansive menu with something for everyone, but their penne a la vodka and calzones are our favorites to get. Penne a la vodka with chicken- 4.6/5 We almost always get this dish when we go to Armstrong's. We almost always have at least two more servings of leftovers when we leave! The sauce is creamy and rich and I just couldn't imagine anything better. Buffalo chicken calzone- 4.3/5 This is the type we usually order. It is LOADED with cheese and as big as my forearm. The downside is that the breaded buffalo chicken is so good but so sparse inside. It could use some more heat for being "buffalo". We crave It all the time nonetheless. My reasoning for not giving this place 5 stars is It just doesn't break that barrier of a really great restaurant and an excellent one. Having an expansive menu only means that they have frozen storages. Most dishes are exactly what you want but uninspired as far as presentation and uniqueness. We will continue to come to Armstrong's for a reasonably priced family dinner or date night and enjoy every bite. read more
