Top of the Rock is such an amazingly beautiful place, that's why I was expecting something special for lunch. I was very surprised that the menu consisted of low quality Tex-mex dishes. I had the fish tacos that were simply two small pieces of over breaded greasy fish on cold tortillas, bland beans, and rice that tasted like something out of a cheap microwave dinner, to top it off was an ear of undercooked corn on the cob. My daughter ordered the kids quesadillas. She didn't like the beans or rice and the main dish was a tortilla with a huge piece of cheese that was not melted all the way through. The staff was warm friendly and accommodating. Everything about this place is amazing (except for the food). Until major changes are made to the menu I strongly recommend stoping in for a drink and taking a look around. The building itself and the views are worth the trip. read more

Very few menu choices. My husband got the burger ($16.00) he said it was okay. My son and I both choose menu items with chorizo. I got about an 8oz bowl of cheese dip ($10.00) and my son got the tacos ($15.00). The amount of grease just about made it unedible. The food gets 1 star. I am 74 years old, and never had food tastes this bad in a restaurant. This is supposed to be a Mexican restaurant, but has an odd flavor that I've never tasted before, with an outrageous price. When we think of Mexican food we think of Mexican food that we have had at other Mexican restaurants. This Mexican food, as they call it, has no Mexican flavor at all. While the restaurant was beautiful, the food was less than average. My husband and I both had tacos; I had rock shrimp and he had the hamburger chorizo. I had 3 small shrimp on each taco and about a teaspoon of guacamole. My husband had the chorizo/hamburger and Saint the meat was very dry . In both cases the tortillas were the consistency of cardboard. They were the worst tacos we had ever eaten! I will say tho, that the Bloody Mary's were very tasty and the service was good. read more

I've been coming to big Cedar for 20 years. At first this new expansion is breathtaking. But the nickel and diming at every opportunity is so incredibly tasteless. I'm going to start looking for a new resort. After paying several hundred dollars a night for a room you are expected to pay $10 to enter the area where they have restaurants. And you're expected to park in an area where you have to take a shuttle to the restaurant or you can pay an extra $15 for valet parking. Good for them if they can get it but it won't be coming for me anymore. goodbye big Cedar - it's been a good run but I already miss the old charm. read more

We just vacationed in the area and decided to go to Top of the Rock - Arnie's Barn. We used the valet option since it was astronomical amount of people visiting that week/day. The food was ok. I would order the nachos over and over. My burger was suppose to be medium and it was cooked well done. My boyfriends quesadilla wasn't crispy and our Arnold Palmer drinks started off GREAT, but the refills fell short of amazing! We did some touring and shopping before we left. Once the valet brought our car back we noticed a huge crack in our windshield that wasn't there before. We made sure to notify the valet drivers. They gave us their supervisors name and number. Needless to say, he was ABSOLUTELY no help. I called my insurance like he asked me and then called him back. He was suppose to call me after he checked on his end. Never did. Had several excuses and sounded very annoyed. It's an awful feeling to leave your car and come back to it damaged with no assistance or empathy after we just spent a lot of money there. read more

First off, I didn't eat at the resturant, so this review is in regards to the area itself. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful, with several interesting buildings to walk through. If you can go at sunset, you definitely should, as it's the best view available in the area, and the resort puts on a bagpipe player and shoots off a civil war era cannon. Even though kids could enjoy some aspects of this place, I see it more as a romantic evening for couples. read more

Excellent! Their Salsa is very fresh. Their chips are homemade, thin, perfectly salted, and very delicious. Their Guacamole is really what gets me though, Arnie's Guac and the Mango Guac were both divine! Their enchiladas were very good, although the meat was a little dry. The beans that come with it are clearly homemade and the Mexican grilled corn always tastes fresh even when it's out of season! The service is always very attentive and the servers are nice! It's a fun atmosphere, but pretty pricey. read more

Thoroughly displeased with how the whole Top of the Rock thing schemes to take your cash. $10 parking with a $10 certificate isn't terrible but it is when the website shows Arnies as open on a Friday night and it's closed!?! I blew $10 and an hour walking around. We went to Buzzard Bar instead, same parent company but couldn't use the $10 certificate?!? Very disappointing. The website was misleading. I doubt very much we'll ever try T.O.R. again. I expect more from a Morris establishment. read more

We love Arnie's Barn and are regulars there. Unfortunately, we were told today that they no longer have their salmon special which was our favorite item on the menu. This was a great offering for our family members who love Arnies even though they don't care for Mexican food. Please bring this back. read more

Views were amazing!!!! Spectacular even. Gorgeous place with excellent service...BUT bad food. Their queso was the worst ever...trying to be fancy but it was awful. $10 for a tiny skillet of gross. Enchiladas, beans, and rice, bland city!!!! $19? Really. First order came out incorrect and the kid didn't even know what kind of cheeses they had. Very disappointing. The food was incredibly bland. I took one bite of the pen chowder. It had no flavor at all but was fairly spicy. The kids thought their chicken tacos were ok but neither are too much of them. My wife got the combo and said it tasted like cafeteria food. Very bland. (Also not cheap but he way, $20 for a combo plate and $18 for small soup and small salad). Our waiter asked how it was and even asked if I didn't care for the soup since it only had a couple bites out of it. I told him no, that I didn't like it at all. He said that's too bad and just walked off. No attempt to comp it or offer anything to make it right. Biggest disappointment t though was that the only reason we came up there was to hear a cannon be shot off. We were told earlier that day if we came back at sunset we could see it. After dinner we walked over and were told they don't shoot off the cannon until after Easter! We left Big Cedar and drive up there 100% for the canon. Talk about some upset children! The views are great though. I will give them that. And the old barn is really cool inside. I'd suggest just walking around though and site seeing. I would give 5 stars for the scenery and atmosphere, but the food was terrible with a $25.00 price tag!! The chocolate flan was so bad I could not eat it. Extremely dry and thick, The tacos were not favorable at all, very bland, lacked seasoning. Salsa was good along with the chips. Need to add more variety to the menu. My friend is a vegetarian and she ordered the beef tacos (hold the beef) and they charged her $15.00 for onions, tomatoes and pepper tacos. I was bummed thought this would be a great place to eat. Really disappointed. We have been here a few times, but this time was NOT a highlight visit. The views are still amazing and the service was good. The food, not so much. Chicken enchiladas were ok, chorizo burger was below average. The beef and chorizo tacos were a major disappointment. No taste, except for the pickled veggies, no chorizo taste at all and the "mouth feel" of the meat was dry, crumbly, and kind of had a sandy texture. A visit to the pro shop wasn't much better. Had a couple of questions for the young man behind the counter, barely got any answer. I'm kinda used to not getting much info at golf shops, even though I play 4-5 times a week and really do know the game, there are still those golf shop people that just won't help a woman. And finally, what's the point of charging you $10 to get in if you then hand out a $10 voucher. We were sad. read more

This was our 4th year staying at Big Cedar Lodge. Way to many rules this go round, and all of these new rules, some necessary, we're not communicated. Outside of the resort area the family friendliness goes out the window. We also visited the pro shop to buy some top of the rock memorabilia, like we do ever year. We were confronted by a girl that worked there and told that the coffee sitting out in public is for paying customers only. There were no signs posted just a coffee bar. Manners must not count in the pro shop. I hope upper management realizes that family friendliness is the foundation of this beautiful place. If I did not have small children we would be traveling to many other destinations. Every time we visited Disney, service and courtesy were paramount. Top of the Rock, once praised by my family has certainly lost its southern charm. Once seated, service was great (John)and so was the food Hostess was a little rude and disrespectful. Great location, bad Mexican food, worse service. We ate at Arnold's barn. We were seated and 90 minutes later ate un remarkable flavor free but expensive Wannabe Mexican. The waitress seemed not to really care about the length of time of service or much else. It's too bad. This is a beautiful location and a beautiful property. Get a proper menu, a real chef, and hire a professional wait staff rather than high school kids and you have something special. As it stands you have an expensive El Pollo Loco with an incredible view. Also $10 valet seems a bit overkill. read more

Started off by letting the hostess know we had a group of 7 adults and 1 child. We were informed we would have a 20 minute wait. 45 minutes later we made our way back to the hostess stand and asked about how much longer it would be before being seated as we had seen several other similar sized parties going ahead of us. She said she had a place available now and took us to a circular booth. We ordered guacamole which as stated by others nothing more than large chunks of avocado in a tiny tin cup for $10.50 which is outrageously overpriced. Three of us ordered beef enchiladas in mole sauce, they were disgusting. One person in our party had the fish tacos, after the first bite the fish taste was horrible. Another person in the party had the Kansas City strip steak. They started cutting the steak and found it to be mostly fat, and the spices on it were terrible, nothing you expect for a $32.00 price. Overall the price of the food was extremely overpriced for the food, then the food itself was really terrible. Would not recommend this place to anyone else. Not worth your time other than the view. Staff was good, except for the hostess-seating issues, but oyr waiter was good which is a shame, they should be working at a real restaurant. read more

Had dinner here with my family. Views are great (and I may have to try the course one of these days) and servers are friendly. Unfortunately, the food did not stack up. The two salsas had virtually no flavor. I decided to try the burger and it might have been good, but for it it coming out barely warm with the fries cold. After a few minutes in the microwave, it was at least warm. The burger was then passable and the fries not bad. But, no apology for the cold food. The kids meals were fine, but something I could make at home in the microwave. Overall, I was very disappointed. We have come down here for years and decided to try this place. Unfortunately, it was the first and last time I will ever eat there. The $200 meal was not worth a quarter of that price. There are so many places within 20 minutes of this restaurant that have far better food. Pay the $10 and go see the view, but stay far away from this restaurant. Really enjoyed Arnie's barn. The atmosphere is awesome. My wife and I split the fajitas which were very good and enough for both of us.. I also enjoyed Arnie's Margarita and guacamole. We were at Top of the Rock on Tuesday August 8,2018. there were 8 adults and 1 toddler, We did the golf cart tour and LOVED all the different waterfalls and just the whole total experience on the tour. Then we went to Arnie's for lunch.We were the first party there a couple of minutes before they opened. They took our name and we waited for 11am opening time. We were taken to our table which was not set for 8+1 but 6. Our waitress was little slow but finally took our order for our appetizers then finally our drinks and food. The food was just okay, we were disappointed. Not sure where our waitress went so we had to ask someone else for drink refills. Finally our food can, not by our waitress. several things were not right ( someone else adjusted the bill) but she never did come by to check on us and the worst thing for us was that we arrived at opening time and the flies were TERRIBLE, We would do the museum and golf cart tour but NOT the Arnie's read more

Fantastic views and the barn was impressive. Our waiter was attentive if not a little over the top. The food, however, was sub-par! The corn chowder was over the top with salty, butter cheese and as my daughter said with her tacos($15) the corn cob was the best part. Guacamole sampler was below average($15) - lacked salt, flavor and an acid like lime( which we asked for and squeezed on). When The waiter asked how I liked the chowder and I said It was not to my liking he said nothing about taking it off my bill ( half eaten). Then asked if I had room for dessert! Hell yeah I did! Because I didn't eat but with lunch costing almost a hundred bucks and all 5 of us agreeing that not one thing but the corn cob was acceptable (3 of us had soup) I'm not gambling on the sweets. I struggled with the rating to give but it comes down to one person that made our experience better. We arrived just looking to get drinks and chose to wait for a table outside since we wanted to enjoy the scenery. We were seated then proceeded to wait several minutes while those around us were being served and waited on. And we continued to wait......we probably waited probably 20 minutes and were greeted by another server that said there was a mix up with servers and apparently our waitress hadn't been informed that we were her table. After about another 10-15 minutes we still hadn't been greeted by our waitress and had flagged down yet another person to ask. We finally decided to leave this table and try by the bar while members of our party had to leave. At the bar we were waited on by the bartender Tim W., and he was fabulous! I would like to give a better rating but it was really only Tim and the incredible job that he did making sure we were served and had everything we needed that redeemed our first experience at this restaurant. The food was good, I had the braised-short rib enchiladas and they were tasty. But if I were to ever go back, it would be to sit at the bar and have some drinks because at least there we were actually served, and what amazing service it was, thanks Tim! read more
