There is sometimes a moment when you are in disbelief that a meal could be so bad; this is that moment. The natural beauty of the surroundings and the restaurant itself were unable to save this meal - yes, the food is that bad. Our party of 8 was promptly greeted and waited only a short while for a table. Our waiter took a bit of time to get to us, but he was respectful and polite. I had a drink called the Paloma (I think that is what it was called), and it was one of the okay-est drinks I've had. My husband and our companions had beer, of which the restaurant has a limited selection. We ordered the guacamole sampler and queso to start with, along with the salsa and chips that are brought to all tables. While the presentation of the chips and salsa is adorable, the salsa itself is just tomatoes and water. There is ZERO flavor to this salsa, and if you like eating diced tomatoes out of a can you'll love it. The queso is listed in the small plates section, and they are not kidding. The portion that came out was smaller than an iPad mini, and was bland with chunks of what was supposed to be chorizo in it (we questioned the authenticity of that statement). For the guacamole you are able to select 3 of the 4 kinds they have, and we chose the Bacon, Mango, and Citrus Crab. The guacamole itself was incredibly bland and had no flavor. It tasted like just mashed up avocado, and for $15 for a portion the size of a cup I kind of expected something a bit more. The Bacon was...interesting. There were large pieces of bacon cut up in the mashed avocado. That was really all that was bacon about it. There was some queso fresco sprinkled on top that was just a hot mess and added nothing to the dish. There was no trace of the "roasted corn salsa" listed on the menu. The Mango had diced mango mixed in, and I like mango, so that one was not inedible. There was no hint of any kind of chili, much less a "pickled fresno chili," but it didn't turn my stomach so it was a plus. The Citrus Crab was a disaster. They basically took the bland guacamole as the base, dumped canned crab meat on top, squeezed some some sort of lemon/lime combo over it and called it good. We called it gross. After sampling it we found the crab meat to taste bad...we live on the Gulf Coast in Southeast Texas and are accustomed to fresh seafood. This was definitely not that. After the opening round of disappointment we received our main courses. The kids had burgers, the kids' nachos, and the beef and chorizo nachos. The burger's description sounds amazing on the menu, and honestly they were the best thing anyone had. The fries were also prepared well and not overly seasoned. The nachos, however, were not prepared well. They were just a pile of (mostly) broken chips and the above-mentioned poorly-executed queso poured over the top. The beef and chorizo nachos had some chunks of the meat mixed in. While we generally enjoy cotija cheese, this tasted like it was a prepackaged dish from the freezer section of the local grocery store. My friend and I had the combo plate, and our husbands had the braised beef enchiladas. The first thing we noticed was that ALL of our food was cold. The refried pinto beans that come with it were dried out and flaky on the plates, and the rice was hard enough to be crunchy when we took bites. The Mexico City Street Corn is anything but; it was boiled, not roasted, and the mayo/seasonings are slathered across the top. This was probably the most edible thing on our plates, though. The braised beef enchiladas were dry and poorly seasoned. There was no flavor to the meat, and the chipotle tomato sauce tasted like diced tomatillos that were out of a can - again, no flavor. The combo plate was a disaster and is now a cautionary tale for all we meet. Besides the dry and flaky beans and tooth-breaking rice, the food was just awful. My friend and I each took a bite of the cod taco and had to move the fish away from us, cover it with a napkin, and pray that we hadn't just gotten food poisoning. It tasted fishy and old, and those two things should never be said about a fish taco. The chicken enchilada was not the worst thing I've ever eaten, but as the dish is currently listed at $24 when you order just the Chicken Enchilada plate, I kind of want more than "not the worst I've ever eaten." The chicken was okay, but tortilla and tomatillo sauce took away from any positive it might have contributed to this terrible meal. The last part of our combo plate was the pork quesadilla with pepper jack cheese. These tasted like they had been made the day before and reheated for this meal. That is probably the nicest thing I can say about that. I heartily caution people to avoid this place, and will never go back again. I will also tell every person I know to avoid it. This food has no right to call itself Mexican food, much less edible food, and it certainly was not worth $130 before tip for 4 people. read more

Well worth the 45 minute wait. The carnitas tacos were spicy and very flavorful! Impressed with salsa as well. During our wait we had drinks from the bar and they made an excellent margarita! We are from Texas and were very pleased to find goof Mexican food in Branson. To top it all off we had excellent service! read more

We ate at Arnie's twice during our stay. The guacamole is delicious. I at the veggie fajitas once and the chickpea salad. Both were very good. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The view over the golf course was incredible. I would recommend eating here. Also, the history of the construction is a great history lesson. read more

The ambiance is enough of a reason to come here. The views are breathtaking and the restaurant is gorgeous. I had the combo plate and agree with some of the other reviewers. The quesadilla was great, the corn was fabulous, and spicy salsa they bring is really good. Nice roasty spicy flavor. The chicken enchilada was just okay, as well as the fish taco. A lot of breading- I missed the fish almost entirely. Overall, service was excellent and some menu items shined. I'd recommend to others. read more

This is my top pick for a date night restaurant. The views are AMAZING, the atmosphere is romantic and inviting, and they have delicious food! I highly recommend the chicken enchiladas. I usually take the shuttle to the restaurant and opt out of the valet parking. Occasionally the shuttle bus drivers will give an informative tour on the drive up. Tip: Bring a jacket. We came here for Thanksgiving. HORRIBLE!!! The food was bland and buffet was empty even after we waited for 30-45 minutes for them to refill. The stuffing was runny and vegetables way undercooked. There was no gravy. It was very disappointing as we went there 2 years ago for Thanksgiving and it was fantastic. We go there everytime we stay at Big Cedar, 3x per year. They have a new executive chef who has really cut back. The guacamole at $12 was half the size as normal and hardly any ingredients in it. This was some of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. But the service was a let down from start to finish. We came in around 2pm, and while several tables open, the manger took our name and told us and a few other parties there would be a 10 minute wait. When we were sat, there was no interaction between us and the hostess. The Server came over quickly. Me wife asked about drink specials and she said they never have special, and all the drinks are special. We ordered and she handled our request with our issue, and she brought the drinks and chips and salsa. Explained the two types of salsa, and I thought things were looking up. When our food was delivered, by another server, we realized we had no silver ware. It was quickly handled. The food was delicious and our server checked back to see if we needed anything, and we hardly ever saw her again. When we finished eating, another server pre-bussed our dishes, but made no inquiries with us. After several minutes, the manager came by and apologized for our food taking so long, due to the kitchen losing our ticket. We told him we already had eaten. He seemed relieved but I never saw him go to another table. We also asked him for a dessert menu, which he brought over. The dessert menu was unappealing, so when the server finally returned we just asked for our check. I am sure with the tourist filled area, service may not be a priority, but this was beyond bad. read more

Very nice atmosphere. The view is spectacular. The food was great, especially the guacamole. The service was great. Our server gave us samples before we ordered our meals. That was a great touch that you don't get many places. We really enjoyed it and if we ever come back to Branson, we will definitely eat here again. Not sure what the person that said bad things about the valet, we had no problems. They were very fast and efficient. Plus you get a $10 voucher when you go in the gate, how great is that? hi, i don't usually review things, but i had to review this. the service, view, and the decorations were beautiful, BUT the food isn't good at all. the chips were good, but the queso was weird. it was like a cheddar cheese instead of the normal white American cheese. my sister and i got the beef enchiladas, and it was gross. it had this weird sauce and it was ew. the corn was ok i guess, but i'm from Louisiana, so i say it doesn't have enough seasoning. the rice was gross, and the beans were ok. i ended up not eating a lot of it, it was gross. i feel like the vibe of that place is for comfort food, or steak. i would expect macaroni, mashed potatoes, potato skins, steak, burgers, green beans, and other stuff like that. i feel like Mexican did not fit the vibe. it was also extremely overpriced. and to finish it off, the waitress said the food was spicy, but i believe it was under seasoned. read more

The food was good, a healthier choice of Mexican fair. The view was what made the entire experience worth it. Our table over looked the driving range and the rear of the chapel. Both were spectacular views. There was a small wedding going on during our lunch and it was just beautiful to see the family and bridal procession file into the chapel. Back to the food, we had the queso, it was just ok because the cheese was not fully melted when it was served. Everyone at the table gobbled it up anyways. I chose the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans it also had Mexican corn. That was a lot of food, more than I could eat in one sitting. Overall the food was really good and the service was OK. I am sitting in the restaurant as I write this review because I honestly cannot believe how bad the food is here. The server was unfriendly, our $10 nacho appetizer was cold and under the top few chips was an entire bag of crumbs so we sent it back. My husband ordered the burger and fries...burger was mediocre at best. The fries were limp and soaked in grease and he couldn't eat them. I ordered the pork quesadilla meal and it was very bland. The "Mexican Street corn" was obviously boiled and I've had better at Chili's. The rice tasted like instant wild rice versus Mexican rice. We will not return and it is unfortunate that a place of this standard would find this acceptable. read more

Top of the Rock is such an amazingly beautiful place, that's why I was expecting something special for lunch. I was very surprised that the menu consisted of low quality Tex-mex dishes. I had the fish tacos that were simply two small pieces of over breaded greasy fish on cold tortillas, bland beans, and rice that tasted like something out of a cheap microwave dinner, to top it off was an ear of undercooked corn on the cob. My daughter ordered the kids quesadillas. She didn't like the beans or rice and the main dish was a tortilla with a huge piece of cheese that was not melted all the way through. The staff was warm friendly and accommodating. Everything about this place is amazing (except for the food). Until major changes are made to the menu I strongly recommend stoping in for a drink and taking a look around. The building itself and the views are worth the trip. read more
